00:00Picking fights with your rivals and compromising your political ideals don't exactly scream
00:05husband material, which is why we're more than a little worried about Mark Zuckerberg's marriage.
00:10Gone are the days of nerdy Mark Zuckerberg always opting for a perpetually dressed-down
00:14look. Instead, he's swagged himself up with a set of curls on top and a series of bold
00:18fashion choices. Some of his recent looks include a dragonfly-detailed black suit,
00:22a cozy knit cardigan, and a cowboy-inspired shearling jacket. But we can't help but wonder
00:27if his wife, Priscilla Chan, really wants to be known as a fashionista.
00:30While a personal transformation is worth applauding every once in a while,
00:33we can't help but see this as a matrimonial red flag as Zuckerberg completely reinvents
00:38himself in front of the college sweetheart who knew him well before he was rocking a gold chain.
00:42Accompanying Zuckerberg's fashion rebrand is also his political one,
00:46as he's recently been buddying up with Donald Trump. He reportedly flew to Mar-a-Lago to
00:50schmooze with the returning president and attended the 2025 inauguration alongside
00:54other major tech executives.
00:56Look, I mean, we're living in a pretty crazy time."
01:00Zuckerberg and Trump haven't always seen eye-to-eye. For example,
01:03in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020,
01:06Zuckerberg and Chan both expressed their disapproval of the president,
01:09making a statement through their Chan-Zuckerberg initiative that read in part,
01:12"...we are deeply shaken and disgusted by President Trump's divisive and incendiary
01:16rhetoric at a time when our nation so desperately needs unity."
01:19Zuckerberg later banned Trump from Facebook and Instagram in the wake of the January 6th
01:23insurrection. But apparently time and political influence heal all wounds,
01:27considering that Zuckerberg co-hosted a reception for Trump and his buddies after the inauguration.
01:32Meanwhile, Chan has not been nearly as vocal about welcoming Trump back with open arms.
01:37Zuckerberg isn't just cozying up to the new, most powerful guy in the room.
01:41He's also changing his mind on policies that his wife expressed her support for.
01:45For example, when he came under fire for the way that Facebook handled the spread
01:48of misinformation, despite banning conspiracy theory groups like QAnon,
01:52Chan appeared on Today and said,
01:53"...I see him at home and in his work,
01:55grappling with these massive questions that sometimes don't have clear answers.
01:58And I am proud of how he's been handling all of this,
02:01and I know he is doing his hardest, and I wish others could see that."
02:04But now it appears that much of that work has been reversed,
02:07as Zuckerberg has reportedly put a stop to the fact-checking that was implemented on meta
02:11social media platforms. It's a move that appears designed to placate Donald Trump,
02:14who was previously banned from Zuckerberg's platforms.
02:17It's also worth noting that Zuckerberg and Chan previously donated $400 million
02:21to local election offices in anticipation of the 2020 elections,
02:25but they did not make a similar donation in 2024, with Zuckerberg saying,
02:29"...my goal is to be neutral and not play a role one way or another,
02:32or to even appear to be playing a role,
02:34so I don't plan on making a similar contribution this cycle."
02:37"...we're gonna try to manage it so that way the politics doesn't
02:40drown out the human connection and the community."
02:43Every midlife crisis needs a new hobby, and Zuckerberg has picked perhaps the most
02:47on-the-nose one possible. He's been hitting the gym and training with Dave Camarillo,
02:51a renowned Brazilian jiu-jitsu coach who has trained a number of famous UFC fighters.
02:55His coach has had nothing but glowing things to say about Zuckerberg, telling ESPN,
02:59"...I think he has a good balance between what he does with his business and what he
03:02does in the physical realm. And he excels. He's one of the best students I've ever had."
03:07Zuckerberg eventually took this venture to the next level when he walked out at UFC 298 with
03:11Alexander Volkanovski. This cameo appearance was surely meant to buff up his credibility
03:16in this macho world, although the New York Post reported that he got lost amidst the hustle and
03:20bustle. As for what Chan thinks of all of this, her husband posted a screenshot between the two
03:24of them on his Instagram story in which he asked if she saw the octagon that he placed in their
03:28backyard. To put it mildly, she didn't exactly sound pleased, especially when she made sure to
03:33say, "...I have been working on that grass for two years."
03:36There comes a time, or several times, in many marriages when the wife quietly puts her face
03:41in her hands as her husband does something stupid. But only Priscilla Chan can say that moment
03:45happened to her when her husband tried to fight a fellow infamous tech billionaire.
03:48It all reportedly began when Zuckerberg announced the launch of Threads,
03:52a text-based social media app that would compete with Elon Musk's ex,
03:55formerly Twitter. Musk responded to the news by saying,
03:58"...I'm up for a cage match if he is lol."
04:00Zuckerberg in turn responded on Instagram by saying,
04:03"...send me location."
04:04And then he texted UFC president Dana White to try and drum up an actual round of fisticuffs.
04:09In many ways, this episode was the ultimate distillation of Zuckerberg's recent heel turn.
04:13He had ample opportunity to just say no and let Musk look like the immature one.
04:18But instead, he did the opposite. Considering Chan's recent comments, or lack thereof,
04:22we can't imagine that she was especially happy about this development,
04:25so maybe Zuckerberg should try to make peace with Musk. After all, if things keep going the
04:29way they are, he might be looking for a place to crash when the divorce papers
04:33are served in the backyard octagon.
