00:00First, let's start off with some news here on the show and then we'll get to some sports betting as well.
00:04This is surrounding the upcoming Olympic Games here, which is really fascinating,
00:08considering that we're talking about travel here, which is crucial to the upcoming Olympic Games.
00:14There is a report that says the U.S. travel system is not ready for the upcoming Olympics in a couple of years.
00:20The U.S. travel system, according to this report, inadequately equipped for the millions of visitors expected to visit the 2026 FIFA World Cup,
00:28which is coming up right around the corner, and the 2028 Summer Olympics.
00:32And this is a report from a nonprofit representing the travel industry.
00:36It's called the U.S. Travel Association Report that says that 40 million people could potentially visit the U.S. for the World Cup,
00:43the Olympics and Paralympics and even the Ryder Cup.
00:47And they're not equipped necessarily to be able to handle this travel.
00:50So, again, this is an independent report.
00:53Sure, the U.S. will refute this. Naturally, keep an eye to see if the U.S. steps up their game in order to get things going in the right way.
00:59As far as the college football playoff system is concerned, we're headed toward a change.
01:04I don't think there's any question about that before we get to the beginning of the regular season and even into the summer.
01:08The SEC and the Big Ten are going to introduce a new change to the seating for the 2025 playoffs next week.
01:13No more automatic buys for conference champions.
01:18So such as teams like Boise State, they don't get an automatic buy.
01:21In a move that will require unanimous vote, the Big 12 and the ACC are going to battle this,
01:27because they're going to want their teams getting automatic buys regardless of where they're ranked.
01:31Needless to say, it does seem like the SEC and the Big Ten are driving the bus here.
01:35Stay tuned.
01:36National Football League Free Agency is set to begin, and we're going to see more money spent than ever before.
01:41The salary cap is going up again in the range of $277.5 million, maybe up to $281 million.
01:48Last year's cap, $255 million.
01:51So, yes, it will increase by $30 million this year, $20 million the year before.
01:56Buckle up, your favorite backup quarterback about to get paid, or two, or three.
02:01That's the way it works in the NBA.
02:03Some bad news for the Milwaukee Bucks.
02:05It was reported this morning that Bobby Portis has been suspended for 25 games for the use of performance-enhancing drugs,
02:12or basically what's called the anti-drug policy.
02:16A statement has been released by Portis' agent, said that it was a mistake.
02:21This is usually the M.O. for these players and these agents.
02:24Toradol is the drug of choice, apparently here a recovery drug.
02:28Portis will miss the next 25 games.
02:31That puts him out essentially for the rest of the regular season, and maybe even the postseason in the NBA.
02:37Meanwhile, last night the NBA did return.
02:39There was one game, the Los Angeles Lakers.
02:4112.5-point favorites, and they end up losing to the Charlotte Hornets.
02:45What a huge disappointment here.
02:47As you see the final score, 102-97 that the Hornets end up taking this one.
02:53Sometimes this happens, first game out of the box in the NBA, and indeed it happened yesterday.
02:59Not the best game for both Luka and LeBron, but needless to say, LeBron did his part.
03:04Some others did not.
03:05Luka LeBron talked about the loss after the game.
03:08I think it was good.
03:10Obviously, like I said, I'm getting a little time just to adjust to everything.
03:16But I think it was fine today.
03:18I think we had some good opportunities to make shots, but we didn't make any shots, especially me.
03:25Just get a little time to get used to it.
03:28Yeah, for sure.
03:30That's going to be it every night.
03:32Obviously, myself and Luka, we're going to draw so much attention.
03:37Myself and Luka, we're going to get double teamed a lot.
03:41Our guys have got to be recipients and be ready to shoot, drive, or pass.
03:47It's an easy game.
03:50In college hoops, the number four team in the country goes down last night.
03:54Alabama has got to fix that defense, I think, before the NCAA tournament.
03:58Missouri put 110 on them last night.
04:00110-98 the final.
04:02Mark Mitchell had 31 points for the Tigers.
04:05Mizzou went on a 12-0 run.
04:07They never looked back.
04:09Needless to say, it was not a great defensive performance for Alabama.
04:15Their head coach said that they could have used less turnovers as well.
04:19We gave them 12 steals.
04:21They scored off them.
04:23We didn't do a great job prepping our guys for their pressure.
04:28They do a good job of it.
04:30You kind of look at some effort stuff.
04:33I mean, Caleb Grill ends up with 25 points, but he had 10 rebounds.
04:37I mean, he had more rebounds.
04:40Nobody had more rebounds than him on our team.
04:43Diabate is the only guy that had 10.
04:47Nobody else had more than four.
04:49For our entire front court to have three and two, Jaron had four.
04:57For their guard to out-rebound us that bad,
05:00I just think they wanted this game a little bit more tonight,
05:02which is a little bit disappointing,
05:04because we still had a lot riding on this game.
05:08I mean, we were still in full control of our own destiny with the league championship.
05:12Had we won out, we no longer are.
05:16And Missouri deserves a lot of credit for it.
05:20Yeah, I think right now Alabama has got to get things more figured out
05:24because their state mates, Auburn, just keeps rolling.
05:28Now, this was a tough game for them last night.
05:3067-60, the Tigers end up winning.
05:33Johnny Broom had 16 points, 13 rebounds.
05:36Not the cleanest game in this one.
05:38They couldn't hit a lot of threes,
05:39but Bruce Pearl after the game talked about the defensive performance.
05:43Sometimes you just got to play these type games to win.
05:45Because Arkansas is so good defensively and such a great rim-protecting team.
05:51Our offense left a lot to be desired tonight.
05:55Our execution wasn't very good.
05:58I don't think our shot selection was great.
06:00When you only have 11 assists and 12 turnovers,
06:02I don't think we shared it as well as we have been.
06:08But our guys competed.
06:09They did not let the fact that we weren't making shots and playing well offensively
06:15affect their defense.
06:16Holding Arkansas to 60 points is significant.
06:20At the same time, I'm sure John, they had a bunch of good looks.
06:25They had some open shots.
06:26If they go down, it's a different outcome.
06:29Big win also yesterday for St. John's.
06:32They played DePaul.
06:33They crushed them.
06:3482-58 the final.
06:35Also, Kentucky beats Vanderbilt.
06:37Final, 82-61.
06:39Those are some of the marquee games yesterday.
06:41Now, over in the Big Ten, Zach Hicks had 19 points.
06:45Penn State beat Nebraska.
06:46Final score, 89-72, ending a seven-game skid.
06:50West Virginia beats Cincinnati 62-59.
06:53R.J. Davis and North Carolina beat NC State in that matchup, 97-73.
07:00And Oregon, in a very close game, goes on the road and beats Iowa by two.
07:06Some news from Major League Baseball this morning,
07:08as the New York Yankees have just announced that they have extended
07:11their manager, Aaron Boone, for the next two seasons.
07:14So Boone Ball continues in the Bronx.
07:17Meanwhile, John Means, recovering from Tommy John surgery,
07:20once upon a time the Orioles' ace, is now pitching for the Guardians.
07:25He has a team option for next season.
07:27It's unknown as to whether or not he will pitch this season.
07:30Also, the Nationals make a pitching move.
07:32Lucas Sims signs with them to a one-year contract.
07:36Also, the new-look A's, Sacramento, however you want to call it,
07:40A's, looks like they're going to sign, according to The Athletic,
07:43Lawrence Butler, who had a nice year last year,
07:4522 home runs for them to a contract extension.
07:47And would you believe that spring training does begin today?
07:51305 Eastern out in Arizona, the two teams that are playing overseas,
07:54they're going to go at it between the Cubs and Dodgers.
07:58By the way, the starter today for the Cubs will be Cody Poteet,
08:01and for the Dodgers it will be Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
08:05And so spring training officially gets underway.
