00:00Mike, I have to ask you, um, about Simone Biles.
00:08She has done it again.
00:10She won the individual gold and beat this, uh, competitor of hers, Sunni Lee, I believe
00:17is her name.
00:18And she had won it in 2020 Biles in 2016, they both are the last two individual goals
00:25are on the same team and it was hyped up as this big competition, but I didn't watch
00:31today.
00:32I'm sure it's going to be on again tonight when they re air it, but I didn't see her.
00:36I just know she won the gold again.
00:39And I know you wrote about her because she led that team to the gold in the, in the team
00:44gymnastics.
00:45So they're cleaning up the women in gymnastics, especially her ninth gold.
00:51Simone Biles today was just amazing.
00:54Uh, there, there, this is a real privilege, I believe, just as it is when LeBron plays
01:01or back when I got to see Michael Jordan play, uh, when I see little messy play now, these,
01:08these athletes that are the absolute best, uh, you only get so many opportunities in
01:14to see athletes like that in your lifetime.
01:18And this is the last I'm sure occasion that we'll see Simone Biles at an, on an Olympic
01:25stage.
01:26And it was interesting today, Scott, uh, because she had a difficult routine on the uneven
01:34bars and she stumbled a little bit, uh, for lack of a better term on the lower bar.
01:40And then while she was swinging on the lower bar appeared to catch her foot, uh, very slightly
01:46on the, on the mat.
01:48So that was two pretty big misses and her score was in the thirteens in, in her time
01:54as Olympic all round champion, 2016.
01:57And now she'd never come close to a score like that.
01:59So it opened the door and it put her next up the next rotation for all the top competitors
02:06was the balance beam.
02:07She's sitting there in third place and having to go on the balance beam.
02:10Now she's great at the beam.
02:12Don't get me wrong.
02:13She's one of the best ever, but anyone could fall off that thing.
02:17It's four inches wide.
02:18So it was, it was so nerve wracking to watch that, that, that, what, 90 seconds that she's
02:25on that beam.
02:27But she was, she just absolutely nailed it there.
02:29When they got to the floor exercise, it was obvious.
02:32All she had to do was basically not fall off the mat, uh, and she was going to win, but
02:37she did far more than just not fall off the mat.
02:40Uh, just some breathtaking stuff.
02:43Uh, I, I, I'm really, really pleased to have gotten the chance to see her now, uh, in a
02:49couple of Olympics or one and a two and a half, I guess we'll say, uh, 20, I still see
02:54online Scott people embarrassing themselves by calling her a quitter.
02:59Look, she had what amounts to an injury.
03:02It wasn't visible, but Hey, you can't see if somebody has like a heart issue, you can't
03:07see that either.
03:08Like you, you gotta trust that it's there.
03:11She did not quit in 2021.
03:14She wasn't able to compete.
03:17She hadn't, she had a condition, uh, it could use a better term than the twisties.
03:22It sounds like nothing, but just imagine yourself in the air, 12 feet above the ground, Scott,
03:29and not knowing where the ground was and how you were going to land and what the danger
03:35of that, I would think so.
03:38I know you fly high on those dunks that you do in your pickup games, your, your league
03:42games, but I don't think even you are 12 feet off the floor.
