00:00With only a few months left before the 2025 midterm elections, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has instructed the Armed Forces of the Philippines, or AFP, to secure the electoral process and underscored the importance of maintaining peace and order throughout the election period.
00:17PTV's Kenneth Paciente tells us more.
00:20A few months before the 2025 elections, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. directed the Armed Forces of the Philippines to ensure a smooth electoral process in May.
00:31The President emphasized that the elections must be conducted in an orderly and peaceful manner.
00:36He pointed out that the Filipino people must not be denied a credible election, especially since it is a fundamental part of the country's democracy.
00:45Once again, we find ourselves at the critical juncture where we have to preserve not only the integrity of our election, but the very ethos of our democracy.
00:58As a nation that deeply values and honors our right to vote, we are counting on the Armed Forces to ensure a peaceful, credible, and orderly conduct of the electoral process that Filipinos expect from us.
01:11We cannot fail them.
01:13The President made this statement during the oath-taking ceremony of newly promoted generals and flag officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
01:20He once again underscored the crucial role of the AFP in upholding the integrity of the Philippine territory.
01:26The President encouraged AFP officials to continue living by the core values of the Armed Forces in fulfilling their duties, especially in protecting the country's territory and ensuring the security of every Filipino.
01:38Each of you here have your fair share of challenges in protecting the Filipino people and in protecting our nation, but you have risen above those challenges.
01:49You persevered in improving our country's security, you have pursued reforms to better your organization, and you have taken steps to enhance your capabilities.
01:59I am certain that you can never go astray, so long as you are guided by the time-honored principle of serving with honor and with integrity.
02:08Among those who took their oath before the Commander-in-Chief were nine graduates of Foreign Pre-Commission Training Institutions, or FPCTI.
02:16He encouraged them to utilize their knowledge acquired abroad to further strengthen the Philippine Armed Forces.
02:22The training, the discipline, the strategies that you acquired abroad will certainly boost our forces' capabilities, especially amidst the increasingly uncertain geopolitical landscape.
02:34Our nation relies on you to bring fresh perspectives that will strengthen our defense systems and enhance military cooperation across borders.
02:44A total of 35 newly promoted generals and flag officers of the AFP, along with nine FPCTI graduates, took their oath before the President.
02:52The oath-taking marks their willing acceptance of their duties and responsibilities of being officers in the Armed Forces.
02:58It demonstrates the readiness of the GFOs and new officers to lead the AFP, guiding and defending the nation against any threats.
