00:00The Senate on Monday approved on third and final reading a bill rescheduling the first
00:05regular elections of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mandelao, or BARM.
00:10Senate Bill No. 29-42 was approved and passed, with 18 affirmative votes, one negative vote
00:16and no abstentions, to reschedule the BARM elections from May 12, 2025 to October 13,
00:222025.
00:23Under the said bill, BARM elections shall be held and synchronized with the 2028 national
00:28elections and every three years thereafter.
00:31The Senate version of the bill is different from the proposal in the House of Representatives,
00:35which was also approved on third and final reading in the House to defer the polls to
00:40May 2026.
00:42Should this be the case, a bicameral conference committee will be held.
