00:00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're diving into the archives to relive the most notable
00:00:08celebrity reactions to shocking scandals.
00:00:12And we're starting with one of Hollywood's most infamous battles, Johnny Depp vs. Amber
00:00:17Heard.
00:00:18Honestly, the Depp-Heard trial makes me vomit.
00:00:22Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the top 10 celeb reactions
00:00:28to the Depp-Heard trial.
00:00:29I was completely unaware of how entertaining the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial is.
00:00:35For this list, we're looking at commentary, hot takes, and social media posts that famous
00:00:40names have made concerning the Depp v. Heard trial.
00:00:43Which celebs do you think had the best take on the trial?
00:00:4710.
00:00:48Lori Holden
00:00:49In May 2016, Heard filed for divorce from Depp and attained a temporary restraining
00:00:55order against him.
00:00:56Although many turned on Depp during this time, Lori Holden defended him on Twitter.
00:01:01The Walking Dead actress declared that she was going to Depp's new movie, tweeting,
00:01:05quote, "'His personal life is just that—personal.
00:01:08No one knows the real truth, so just zip it.'"
00:01:11While Holden clarified that she was encouraging people not to jump to conclusions, her comments
00:01:16still received backlash.
00:01:17Reflecting on the tweet six years later, Holden was, quote, glad that she spoke her mind,
00:01:22and, quote, "'would do it again' in a heartbeat."
00:01:25Throwing further support behind Depp, Holden asked her followers to, quote, "'get past
00:01:30stereotypes of what a victim is supposed to look like.'"
00:01:339.
00:01:34Ricky Lake
00:01:35We're all familiar with Hairspray, the John Waters cult classic starring Ricky Lake that
00:01:40spawned a Broadway musical.
00:01:42Although it followed a similar trajectory, fewer people are familiar with Waters' Crybaby,
00:01:47in which Lake co-starred with Johnny Depp as a teen rebel without a cause.
00:01:52Although they only made one film together, Lake has fond memories of working with Depp.
00:01:57Sharing a nostalgic photo from the Crybaby set, Lake tweeted that Depp was, quote, "'kind,
00:02:02funny, inclusive, professional, a joy.'"
00:02:05Due to her beloved dog's illness, Lake hadn't been following the trial, but she concluded,
00:02:10quote, "'He was soft-spoken, gentle, and I loved him.'"
00:02:148.
00:02:15Meghan McCain
00:02:16While the trial is ongoing, many have already, quote-unquote, picked a team.
00:02:21In late April 2022, Meghan McCain wrote a Daily Mail column, observing the situation
00:02:27from the plaintiff and defendant's perspectives.
00:02:30The former View co-host declared without hesitation, quote, "'If there is any truth to any of
00:02:35it, Depp and Heard had one of the most toxic, dysfunctional, and violent relationships since
00:02:40Sid and Nancy.'"
00:02:41However, McCain wasn't sure who to believe, writing, quote, "'There are credible allegations
00:02:47of abuse on both sides.'"
00:02:48While McCain isn't ready to choose sides, she isn't, quote, ready to cast Amber Heard
00:02:53as the villain either.
00:02:55McCain ultimately argued, quote, "'Due process is essential,' and we must trust but verify
00:03:01when the lives, careers, and reputations of both sides hang in the balance.'"
00:03:057.
00:03:07Bill Burr
00:03:08Comedian Bill Burr has never been one to shy away from saying exactly what he's thinking.
00:03:13He didn't hold back while discussing the Depp v. Heard trial on his Monday Morning podcast.
00:03:18As far as Burr is concerned, Depp is out in front.
00:03:21Being a Depp fan, Burr couldn't bring himself to closely monitor the trial, but he was happy
00:03:26to see the actor defending himself.
00:03:28He also stated that people who had, quote, "'publicly trashed' Depp owed him a public
00:03:33apology if Heard were to lose the trial."
00:03:36Suggesting that Heard lied about her
00:03:48accusations against Depp, Burr contemplated what this would mean for feminism.
00:03:52Burr argued that when someone lies about being a victim, quote, "'it hurts the people that
00:03:56are actually in it.'"
00:04:026.
00:04:04Howard Stern
00:04:05The Depp v. Heard trial has sparked many debates about domestic violence in the MeToo movement,
00:04:10but the discourse has been just as much about how the media tackles these subjects, especially
00:04:14when celebrities are involved.
00:04:16On his radio show, Howard Stern accused Depp of being a, quote, "'narcissist' for allowing
00:04:22the trial to be televised.
00:04:28Stern also felt that Depp was, quote, "'overacting' on the stand, calling his accent into question."
00:04:34In Stern's opinion, welcoming the world into the courthouse doesn't paint Depp or
00:04:39Heard in a positive light.
00:04:41That said, while Stern has mainly talked about Depp, he didn't throw support behind Heard
00:04:45either.
00:04:46These two things both come off as, quote, "'battling children,' and the trial isn't
00:04:50going to end well for either."
00:04:51The best-selling author isn't having it, adding that both Amber and Johnny sound like
00:04:56two battling children.
00:04:575.
00:04:58Paul McCartney
00:04:59Johnny Depp has popped up in several music videos, including My Valentine by Paul McCartney.
00:05:05When asked why he selected Depp and Natalie Portman for the music video back in 2012,
00:05:09the former Beatle called them, quote, "'nice people' and, quote, "'friends.'"
00:05:14About a decade later, McCartney seemed to support Depp amid his trial.
00:05:18During a performance of My Valentine in Seattle, McCartney played a clip of Depp on guitar.
00:05:30While McCartney hasn't made any formal statements about the trial as of writing, actions speak
00:05:35louder than words.
00:05:37In this case, it's safe to say who McCartney supports.
00:05:40Jill Vetter, who's married to Eddie Vetter of Pearl Jam, shared an Instagram video of
00:05:44McCartney's performance, writing, quote, "'might be controversial to post this video
00:05:48with JD.
00:05:49Don't care.'"
00:05:504.
00:05:51Russell Brand
00:05:52Reaction videos to the trial have not been limited to TikTok stars.
00:05:57When Russell Brand rose to prominence, some noted his resemblance to Depp.
00:06:01There were even rumors that Brand might play Jack Sparrow's brother in the fourth Pirates
00:06:05of the Caribbean.
00:06:06While that never came to fruition, Brand has heavily discussed Depp v. H.E.R.D. on his
00:06:11YouTube channel.
00:06:16Although Brand mentioned that he didn't know the former couple especially well, he
00:06:20hoped that the accusations against Depp weren't true.
00:06:28Brand has mostly focused on society's response to the trial and what it morally means for
00:06:33us as a species.
00:06:35Being a comedian, Brand also couldn't resist joking about the trial's most bizarre moments
00:06:40and the media's coverage.
00:06:41It's Russell Brand at his brandiest.
00:06:473.
00:06:50Jennifer Grey
00:06:51Depp was engaged to Dirty Dancing and Ferris Bueller actress Jennifer Grey during the late
00:06:5680s.
00:06:57Being his ex-fiancée, many were curious to hear Grey's two cents on the trial.
00:07:04In May 2022, Grey initially said, quote,
00:07:12While promoting her memoir Out of the Corner on the Tamron Hall show, Grey claimed that
00:07:21she hasn't known Depp for 30 years.
00:07:24Grey mentioned that she hadn't watched the trial partly because she isn't sure how
00:07:27to access it.
00:07:28Based on the clips, though, Grey says that she doesn't recognize Depp in the footage,
00:07:33and choosing not to take a side, Grey simply expressed her heartbreak for all those involved.
00:07:472.
00:07:48Joe Rogan
00:07:49The Fear Factor host-turned-podcaster has made it no secret that he is 100% Team Johnny
00:07:55Depp.
00:07:56He's talked about the trial at great length on The Joe Rogan Experience, calling it a,
00:08:00quote,
00:08:01Rogan has accused her of being, quote,
00:08:09and called her mental state into question.
00:08:12He also took shots at Disney for letting Depp go from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise,
00:08:17believing that the company could raise their stock market price if they brought the actor
00:08:21back.
00:08:24Of course, Depp testified that he wouldn't return to Pirates even for, quote,
00:08:29Regardless, Rogan feels that Disney goofed by dropping Depp, and that the trial has already
00:08:35been a, quote,
00:08:36First of all, this is a big win for Johnny Depp.
00:08:411.
00:08:42Drew Barrymore
00:08:43It feels like everybody has an opinion on Depp V Heard, but Drew Barrymore's has perhaps
00:08:48made the most headlines thus far.
00:08:50The Drew Barrymore show is usually a beacon of optimism and light-hearted escapism.
00:08:56Some argued that Barrymore crossed a line, however, when she excitedly referred to the
00:09:00trial as, quote,
00:09:05Barrymore thought it was, quote,
00:09:11While some would agree that the whole thing is pretty out there, others felt Barrymore
00:09:15came off as insensitive.
00:09:17Amid backlash, Barrymore apologized in an Instagram video, calling this a, quote,
00:09:24Barrymore aspires to grow and change from the experience.
00:09:28I can be a more thoughtful and better person moving forward.
00:09:34The verdict in disgraced actor Danny Masterson's trial sent shockwaves throughout the entertainment
00:09:39industry.
00:09:40Let's take a closer look and see how celebrities reacted to the high-profile court decision.
00:09:47We are aware of the pain that has been caused by the character letters that we wrote on
00:09:54Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're examining the most notable public responses to the guilty
00:09:59verdict and 30-year prison sentencing of Danny Masterson, and in some cases, reactions to
00:10:04a reaction.
00:10:05Leave him alone.
00:10:06Leave me alone.
00:10:07Leave people alone.
00:10:08Who are you?
00:10:09Who are you?
00:10:10Leah Remini.
00:10:11Heavily wrapped up in the Danny Masterson case is the Church of Scientology, of which
00:10:15Masterson has long been a member.
00:10:18Another actor who was also once affiliated is Leah Remini, who left the Church in 2013
00:10:23and has since been a vocal denouncer of its reported corruption.
00:10:27This is just one of many cases that Scientology has been involved in, in attempting to obstruct
00:10:32justice and Mike could also speak to that, but it's the absolute policy of Scientology.
00:10:39Remini even produced a documentary series investigating the Church with an episode specifically
00:10:44focusing on Masterson.
00:10:46Scientology sees us as kind of producing Scientologists, right?
00:10:50But especially as a celebrity, they have protection.
00:10:54Remini was present during the sentencing and unsurprisingly posted to the social media
00:10:58service now known as X about her relief that Masterson is now, quote, off the streets.
00:11:03She went on to laud Masterson's accusers for their bravery while also criticizing the Church
00:11:08for their reported cover-up of the offenses.
00:11:10People should not be in fear of retaliation for a multi-billion dollar organization calling
00:11:16itself a church for fear of what they do to people.
00:11:22Cedric Bixler-Zavala, lead singer of the band The Mars Volta.
00:11:26Cedric Bixler-Zavala has been married to actor and model Chrissy Carnell Bixler since 2009.
00:11:31So I go downstairs.
00:11:32I was like, what happened?
00:11:34I have no memory.
00:11:37And he just kind of chuckled.
00:11:39Carnell Bixler is one of the women who accused Masterson.
00:11:42And while that particular charge didn't stick, Bixler-Zavala has been publicly critical of
00:11:47Masterson since 2017, when he first accused him of assaulting his wife.
00:11:51As soon as I said it, I just immediately started defending Danny and justifying why he did
00:11:59it.
00:12:00And he just looked at me just stunned.
00:12:02Following Masterson's sentencing, Bixler-Zavala expressed his gratitude on Instagram to the
00:12:07people who played a part in obtaining the verdict, including Judge Charlayne Almedo
00:12:11and Remini.
00:12:12He followed it up by saying he's working on a post listing people he doesn't appreciate.
00:12:17If we do, in fact, see such a post, we're sure Masterson's name will be at the top of
00:12:22the list.
00:12:23I think Scientology found a very special way to spin it to her to say it was your fault.
00:12:30Because she was not a celebrity, but had dated the celebrity, it was far more important to
00:12:35cover his ass.
00:12:37Stephen, I was gonna clean your kitchen for you, but frankly, I'm afraid.
00:12:45Of course, most people will know Danny Masterson from playing Stephen Hyde on the hit sitcom
00:12:49That 70's Show.
00:12:50One of his co-stars, Deborah Jo Rupp, continues to play Kitty Foreman on the sequel series
00:12:55That 90's Show.
00:12:56You got twice the balls, act like it.
00:12:58Kitty is the lovable and cheerful mother archetype, and Rupp's response to the verdict was largely
00:13:03in keeping with that.
00:13:05Rupp was just one of multiple co-stars to write a letter to the judges asking for leniency,
00:13:09with many of the letters subsequently being leaked to the press.
00:13:13While Rupp stated that she, quote, respects the law, she called Masterson, quote, respectful
00:13:18and kind.
00:13:19As for writing the letter itself, she also said that, quote, Masterson would take the
00:13:23time to do it for her.
00:13:25Pick your battles.
00:13:32Kurt Wood Smith
00:13:33So, what's it gonna be, Stephen?
00:13:36Prison, death, or a birthday party?
00:13:38Almost the polar opposite of Kitty is her husband on That 70's Show, Red, who is stern
00:13:42and outwardly unfeeling.
00:13:44However, the letter actor Kurt Wood Smith wrote to the judge following the verdict was
00:13:48fairly in line with Rupp's.
00:13:50So what, you don't want a hug, do you?
00:13:53God, no.
00:13:54Good.
00:13:55Because you're not getting one.
00:13:56Smith also described Masterson in good character, claiming that he, quote, treated all women
00:14:01on the show with respect.
00:14:03It's a pretty big departure from what Masterson has been accused of doing.
00:14:08And while it's important for all of us to have friendly relations who will vouch for
00:14:12parts of our character, it definitely isn't the whole story, especially when it comes
00:14:16to weighing outward personality against actions.
00:14:19But Red, for an extra two bucks a month, your wife and children could be enjoying full frontal
00:14:24nudity.
00:14:26But I don't want you to enjoy anything.
00:14:30I want people your age out of my house.
00:14:34No more sex.
00:14:36No more exploiting our bodies and our hearts.
00:14:39If there's one person Masterson wanted in his corner throughout this whole ordeal, it
00:14:43was his wife, actor and model Bijou Phillips.
00:14:46Phillips definitely gave him her full support, sticking by his side through it all.
00:14:50Bijou Phillips leaving the courthouse just moments after the sentence was handed down.
00:14:55Anything to say?
00:14:56While Phillips hasn't commented on the sentence as of yet, she did similarly write a letter
00:15:01to the judge.
00:15:02Somewhat predictably, Phillips focused on Masterson's role as a, quote, life-saving
00:15:07partner and a, quote, devoted father to their daughter, Fianna, who was born in 2014.
00:15:13Phillips also stressed how reliant she and Fianna are on Masterson, something that has
00:15:17also been echoed by Masterson's brother, Jordan.
00:15:20Despite these concerns regarding Masterson's absence, Judge Almedo still felt the charges
00:15:25were serious enough to give Masterson the maximum sentence.
00:15:28You are not the victim here.
00:15:30Your actions 20 years ago took away another person's voice and choice.
00:15:34One way or another, you will have to come to terms with your prior actions and their
00:15:38consequences.
00:15:39Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.
00:15:41All I need is my buddy Hyde.
00:15:48No chick is going to come between us anymore.
00:15:51Right Hyde?
00:15:52Uh, yeah.
00:15:55Of all the people who came out in support of Masterson's character, that 70 show co-stars
00:15:59Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have faced the fiercest backlash.
00:16:03And a lot of that stems from their response to the backlash.
00:16:06We support victims.
00:16:07We have done this historically through our work and will continue to do so in the future.
00:16:12Like the others, the now married Kutcher and Kunis also penned character letters, with
00:16:17Kutcher not deeming Masterson a, quote, ongoing harm to society, and Kunis calling him a,
00:16:23After the sentencing, Kutcher and Kunis posted an apology video, claiming that the letters
00:16:30were never meant to be made public and that they apologized for potentially re-traumatizing
00:16:34the victims.
00:16:35The letters were not written to question the legitimacy of the judicial system or the validity
00:16:41of the jury's ruling.
00:16:42They were intended for the judge to read and not to undermine the testimony of the victims
00:16:47or re-traumatize them in any way.
00:16:50Public response to the video wasn't any kinder, with many criticizing the couple for not actually
00:16:55apologizing for writing the letters in the first place.
00:16:58Amy Schumer
00:16:59This one's a little tangential, but it eventually gets there.
00:17:03I discovered not to apologize before putting my two cents in.
00:17:09The weekend following the Masterson sentencing, comedian Amy Schumer incidentally posted a
00:17:13recent photo of Nicole Kidman at the U.S. Open and poked fun at the awkward way she
00:17:18was sitting.
00:17:19Nicole called Schumer out online for the mean jab, and she promptly deleted the post.
00:17:26At this point, the Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis apology was trending, so Schumer got
00:17:31playful with her own apology, writing, quote,
00:17:34I will be asking the cast of That 70s Show to write letters advocating for my forgiveness.
00:17:42That post was also promptly deleted.
00:17:45But when you're as famous as Schumer, everything you put out there is immortalized.
00:17:50Do you know the difference between pain and suffering?
00:17:52Oh, I can't wait to hear this.
00:17:54Perhaps best known for playing an incarcerated character on Orange is the New Black,
00:17:58Taron Manning had some choice words for the general public after Masterson received a
00:18:0330-year prison sentence.
00:18:04The fact that people want to just tear us all down, like even like with my friend Danny
00:18:10going to prison for 30 years.
00:18:11Yeah, he made a mistake, but everyone just, just, just, just keep, keep going.
00:18:15Just keep crucifying him.
00:18:17Manning vehemently defended her friend, whom she claimed, quote, made a mistake, even though
00:18:22in the eyes of the judicial system, he made it at least twice.
00:18:26More passionately, however, she criticized people for continuing to, quote, crucify Masterson,
00:18:31pleading with them to leave him and everyone else alone.
00:18:35In the caption to the Instagram video, Manning also criticized Kutcher and Kunis for what
00:18:39she views as, quote, backpedaling in their apology video.
00:18:43People like you, people like me.
00:18:46Yeah, enough, enough, it's enough.
00:18:49Christina Ricci.
00:18:50Don't be a baby, I know what I'm doing.
00:18:54Sometimes the best way to respond to controversy is to simply pass on valuable lessons that
00:18:59can be learned from the whole situation.
00:19:01That's what actor Christina Ricci did without naming names, even though she didn't have to.
00:19:05Well, I'm a very passive aggressive person.
00:19:07Are you?
00:19:08Oh yeah, I'm five foot two.
00:19:11I can't be openly aggressive, I'll get killed.
00:19:14Shortly after Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis issued their apology video, Ricci took to
00:19:18Instagram.
00:19:19She expressed that the people we know as our friends can sometimes do terrible things in
00:19:23secret.
00:19:24And as much as we want to defend their character as we know it, it's still important to listen
00:19:29to people who might have been exposed to a different side of them.
00:19:32In short, Ricci said, quote, believe victims.
00:19:35You know, you can learn so much about a person by going through their personal refuse.
00:19:39Ashley Hinshaw.
00:19:40I'm sorry, I didn't know he had a girlfriend.
00:19:43Yes, you did.
00:19:44She did.
00:19:45Shame on you, Ashley Hinshaw.
00:19:49How could you do that?
00:19:50Since Masterson's verdict, people online have been vindicating his That 70s Show co-star
00:19:55Topher Grace over long-time behind-the-scenes anecdotes that the latter wasn't incredibly
00:19:59social with the other actors.
00:20:01You're lucky I don't kick your ass.
00:20:03Some have also commended him for not falling into the trap of writing a letter appealing
00:20:07for the judge's leniency.
00:20:08Come on in, make yourself at home.
00:20:09I'm out of beer, but if you want, you can break something.
00:20:16Actually, I had my eye on the phone, so...
00:20:21While Grace hasn't publicly responded to the verdict as of this writing, his wife, fellow
00:20:26actor Ashley Hinshaw, has.
00:20:28In an Instagram story, Hinshaw reached out to victims of assault everywhere, stating
00:20:32that she sees them even though most of society is more interested in what is going to happen
00:20:37to the perpetrator.
00:20:38In a case that's wrapped up in such a high-profile celebrity, that is especially true.
00:20:44What do you make of these responses?
00:20:47It was the slap heard around the world.
00:20:50Will Smith's shocking Oscar incident with Chris Rock became an instant global headline,
00:20:56and plenty of celebrities had lots to say.
00:21:00Will Smith is significantly bigger than me.
00:21:03We are not the same size, okay?
00:21:07Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the top 10 celeb reactions
00:21:12to the Will Smith and Chris Rock feud.
00:21:14I was fogged out by that point.
00:21:17It's, it's, it's all fuzzy.
00:21:21For this list, we're looking at responses from within the industry regarding the seemingly
00:21:25never-ending slap saga, from that fateful Oscar Sunday to Rock's 2023 Netflix special.
00:21:31Are you team Will, team Chris, or team we're still talking about this?
00:21:36I'm team we're still talking about this.
00:21:39Number 10, Adam Sandler.
00:21:41Since joining SNL in 1990, Sandler and Rock have collaborated on various projects.
00:21:46We, we were on this show together, right?
00:21:49Yeah, yeah, we got the same time, yeah, yeah, got hired the same days.
00:21:53In March 2023, weeks after Chris Rock's selective outrage landed on Netflix, Sandler received
00:21:59the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
00:22:02When People asked Sandler if he felt Rock's comments about Will and Jada crossed a line,
00:22:06he supported his fellow comedian.
00:22:08I thought he was unbelievably relaxed, funny, thoughtful, crushed it.
00:22:14Sandler praised Rock's special, going as far as to compare it to the Super Bowl.
00:22:19Rock was present that night to honor Sandler, discussing how he had been robbed of an Oscar
00:22:23nomination for Uncut Gems.
00:22:25Rock also referenced his own Oscar ordeal, saying that Paul Pelosi, who endured a hammer
00:22:31attack in 2022, knew how he felt.
00:22:34Based on Sandler's reaction, he found that joke funny too.
00:22:38One of the best experiences, I thought it was amazing.
00:22:40Number 9, Eddie Murphy.
00:22:43Almost a year after the slap, Eddie Murphy accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the
00:22:4780th Golden Globes.
00:22:48This is very nice, I want to say thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press.
00:22:52Murphy kept his speech short and sweet, thanking all the people who helped him get to where
00:22:57he is.
00:22:58Murphy's calm, humble demeanor made it all the more surprising when he built to a punchline
00:23:02referencing Will Smith and his infamous words on Oscar night.
00:23:18Speaking to the press backstage, Murphy expressed his love for Smith and Rock, saying that he
00:23:23hadn't heard from either of them since the previous year's altercation.
00:23:33Had Murphy hosted this year's Oscars, he says he would have worked that joke in.
00:23:37While Murphy wasn't afraid to go there, he thought it was wise to address the incident
00:23:42and move on.
00:23:43Good night everybody!
00:23:48Number 8, Jim Carrey.
00:23:50While the slap left the biggest mark at the 2022 Oscars, some were just as shocked by
00:23:56the fallout.
00:23:59Smith was permitted to remain in the theater, winning Best Actor later that night.
00:24:04Jim Carrey said that he was quote, sickened to see Smith receive a standing ovation following
00:24:08such a violent display, believing that the since-banned Best Actor winner should have
00:24:12been told to leave up front.
00:24:15Carrey went on to call Hollywood quote, spineless.
00:24:21Although Rock decided not to pursue legal action against Smith, Carrey would have gone
00:24:26down another route had he been on the receiving end.
00:24:29Carrey added that he had nothing against Smith personally, but his actions overshadowed what
00:24:33was supposed to be a special night for everyone.
00:24:42Number 7, Jimmy Kimmel.
00:24:44Virtually every late-night host commented on the slap.
00:24:47Jimmy Kimmel stood out since his show is on the same network that broadcasts the Oscars.
00:24:52This did not stop Kimmel from breaking down the feud during his monologue the following
00:24:56day.
00:25:02When Kimmel was enlisted to host the following year's Oscars, a few jokes about the controversy
00:25:07seemed inevitable.
00:25:08Kimmel did not tiptoe around the elephant in the room, assuring the audience that a
00:25:12crisis team was in place.
00:25:14If somebody tried to attack Kimmel over a joke, they'd have to get past several action
00:25:19stars including Michael B. Jordan and Michelle Yeoh.
00:25:22Just don't count on Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man getting caught in the middle.
00:25:26Kimmel got through without any slaps or envelope mix-ups.
00:25:29Number 6, Marlon Wayans.
00:25:32Marlon Wayans dedicated his 2023 stand-up special, God Loves Me, to the Smith-Rock feud.
00:25:38Marlon Wayans expressed deep admiration for both parties.
00:25:41He couldn't help but take at least a little pleasure in the slap.
00:25:44He revealed that Rock once heckled him, driving Wayans to quit stand-up for 20 years.
00:25:56Wayans also had a huge crush on Jada Pinkett Smith, who he knew personally.
00:26:01Upon learning that she was in a relationship with Will, Wayans was naturally disappointed.
00:26:14So when Smith slapped Rock on national television, Wayans saw it as God demonstrating his love
00:26:20for him.
00:26:24Despite taking shots at everyone involved, Wayans said in a Hollywood Reporter interview,
00:26:30that the purpose of this is more healing than it is deconstruction.
00:26:34Number 5, Joe Rogan.
00:26:36Never one to shy away from controversial subjects, Joe Rogan of course had a hot take about the
00:26:41Smith-Rock feud.
00:26:42The podcast host was quick to comment on the slap, condemning the Academy for not having
00:26:47Smith escorted from the ceremony.
00:26:49Rogan found Rock's joke, quote, mild at most, saying that Smith's reaction, quote,
00:26:54sets a terrible precedent for comedy clubs.
00:27:02About a year later, Rogan had more to share on the heels of Rock's Netflix special.
00:27:06Rogan once again questioned what Smith was thinking, but this time, he focused more on
00:27:11the audience's response, or lack thereof.
00:27:14In Rogan's eyes, Hollywood has few independent thinkers who are willing to call out something
00:27:24morally wrong.
00:27:25The standing ovation that Smith garnered seemed to support Rogan's argument.
00:27:36Number 4, Serena Williams.
00:27:39Smith won the Oscar for portraying Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena.
00:27:44While Smith thanked the Williams family in his acceptance speech, he also compared himself
00:27:48to, quote, the crazy father.
00:27:50On behalf of the real King Richard, his son, Shavota Lasane, stated, quote,
00:27:55We don't condone anyone hitting anyone else unless it's in self-defense.
00:27:59Venus has been mostly quiet on the incident.
00:28:02Meanwhile, a stunned Serena initially said in a since-deleted Instagram story,
00:28:10The tennis superstar went into greater detail nearly a year later.
00:28:14She felt that Smith's actions overshadowed Questlove, who subsequently won Best Documentary
00:28:19Feature.
00:28:19At the same time, Serena expressed sympathy for Smith, saying that she knew what it felt
00:28:24like to make a, quote,
00:28:38The 2022 Oscars was not the first time that Rock cracked a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith,
00:28:43notably throwing shade at her boycott of the 2016 ceremony when he hosted.
00:28:48After Rock made his G.I.
00:28:49Jane comment six years later, Pinkett Smith's eye roll seemed to say everything.
00:28:54Pinkett Smith, who shaved her head due to alopecia areata, touched upon the slap while
00:28:59discussing her condition.
00:29:00The actress expressed hope that her husband and Rock would be able to, quote,
00:29:04reconcile.
00:29:05My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal,
00:29:11talk this out, and reconcile.
00:29:13Pinkett Smith has yet to officially go on the record about selective outrage.
00:29:17However, a source close to her told People that she, quote,
00:29:20has had no part in all of this other than being heckled.
00:29:23The source also accused Rock of being, quote,
00:29:26obsessed with her.
00:29:34During his Oscar acceptance speech, Smith apologized to the Academy and his fellow
00:29:38nominees, but he only alluded to Rock.
00:29:41On social media, Smith subsequently apologized to the comedian,
00:29:44saying that he was, quote,
00:29:45out of line and, quote,
00:29:47wrong.
00:29:48Smith appeared in a YouTube video the following July,
00:29:50claiming that he had reached out to Rock, but he wasn't ready to talk.
00:29:54For the time being, Smith again apologized to Rock, as well as his family.
00:30:12He also asserted that Jada wasn't responsible for his decision.
00:30:20Like Jada, Will still hasn't publicly shared his two cents on selective outrage.
00:30:25According to a source that spoke with Entertainment Tonight,
00:30:28Smith didn't watch the special, but Rock's comments left him feeling,
00:30:32quote,
00:30:32embarrassed and hurt.
00:30:34Now, a source tells ET,
00:30:36Will is embarrassed and hurt by what the comedian said about him.
00:30:39Before we unveil our top pick, here are some honorable mentions.
00:30:45Diddy claimed in March 2022 that the feud was, quote,
00:30:48over.
00:30:49Was it, though?
00:30:50That's not a problem. That's over. I can confirm that.
00:30:56We don't talk about Jada, no, no, no.
00:31:00We don't talk about Jada.
00:31:04Jaden Smith, quote,
00:31:05and that's how we do it, Will and Jada's offspring declared.
00:31:09Gerard Carmichael.
00:31:10Barely a week later, he was already tired of talking about it.
00:31:14Like, aren't you sick of talking about it?
00:31:16Isn't it kind of crazy?
00:31:18It feels like we've been talking about it for so long.
00:31:20Number 1.
00:31:21Chris Rock.
00:31:23Immediately after the slap, practically everyone had something to say.
00:31:26Everyone except for the person who got slapped,
00:31:29other than a comment about this being, quote,
00:31:31the greatest night in the history of television.
00:31:34Rock said that he was still, quote,
00:31:35processing what happened while performing at the Wilbur Theatre days later.
00:31:39It took another year.
00:31:40But Rock unleashed all of his thoughts in selective outrage.
00:31:44People like, did it hurt?
00:31:46It still hurts.
00:31:49I got summertime ringing in my ears.
00:31:51In addition to numerous jokes about Will,
00:31:53Rock used some harsh words to describe Jada.
00:31:56Rock even tackled Jada's reported, quote,
00:31:58entanglement with Jaden's friend August Alsina,
00:32:01who denies watching the special.
00:32:03I didn't have any entanglements.
00:32:06While Rock didn't fight back at the Oscars,
00:32:08he pulled no punches or slaps here.
00:32:11Sources claim that he's ready to move on.
00:32:13But can the rest of the world?
00:32:15She hurt him way more than he hurt me, okay?
00:32:19Okay?
00:32:21The quiet on-set documentary exposed many disturbing,
00:32:25behind-the-scenes allegations from some beloved children's television shows.
00:32:30And as you might imagine,
00:32:31many celebrities went public with their reactions to the eye-opening expose.
00:32:37The big story in the room, as you know,
00:32:38is this documentary called Quiet on the Set, the dark side of kids' TV.
00:32:43Welcome to WatchMojo.
00:32:45And today, we're looking at more stars who've publicly commented on
00:32:48Investigation Discovery's shocking docuseries, Quiet on Set.
00:32:51But I just felt like it would be remiss if I didn't ask you,
00:32:54given it's so buzzy in the news.
00:32:55Yeah, I've been trying to figure out how to address it on social.
00:32:59Angelique Bates
00:33:00From 1992 to 1996, I was a series regular on Nickelodeon's All That.
00:33:07I was only 12 years old, and that's when my nightmare began.
00:33:10For years, Angelique Bates, one of the original All That cast members,
00:33:14has spoken out about being, quote,
00:33:16verbally and emotionally abused at Nickelodeon.
00:33:19In a March 2024 interview with The Blast,
00:33:22Bates detailed an alleged on-set incident when producer Dan Schneider yelled at her.
00:33:26She recalled that episode's guest director and others spoke to him,
00:33:30and he later apologized.
00:33:31Bates also discussed feeling tormented by fellow cast members
00:33:35and her mother rejecting the alleged advances of a producer.
00:33:38The show was number one. It was just like all this love that I wasn't getting.
00:33:42So to have that taken away from you and not be able to do anything
00:33:47and not be able to make a living, it's hard.
00:33:51According to the actress, she was asked and declined to participate
00:33:54in I.D.'s Quiet On Set docuseries since her previous accusations resulted in backlash.
00:34:00After it premiered, Bates shared her support and well-wishes
00:34:03for those who were able to finally open up.
00:34:05That's what I live for, just to make sure that they're okay
00:34:09and they don't have to go through any of the things that I had to go through.
00:34:13Michael Bauer
00:34:14Shouldn't we say a few words?
00:34:17I'll say something.
00:34:18Michael Bauer, best known for playing Eddie,
00:34:20Donkey Lips Galfin on Nickelodeon's Salute Your Shorts,
00:34:23didn't appear in the docuseries, but shortly after it aired,
00:34:26he released a video on his YouTube channel, recalling a time in the early 1990s
00:34:31when a Nickelodeon executive allegedly preyed on him and a friend,
00:34:34giving them gifts and inviting them to theme parks.
00:34:37Just hanging out with an older man.
00:34:39But then there was an instance where, you know, because
00:34:44he was picking us up every once in a while in like a car, a rental car,
00:34:48he invited us back to the hotel.
00:34:50Two of the most shocking claims Bauer made were that this executive
00:34:53was likely involved in hiring Dan Schneider,
00:34:56and that Schneider himself hired Brian Peck,
00:34:58the dialogue coach accused of abusing Drake Bell,
00:35:01which the producer previously denied.
00:35:03Bauer also alleged that Peck was inappropriate with him
00:35:06while they worked on a film together, The Willys,
00:35:08trying to be around the actor while he was undressed.
00:35:11He had 14 or whatever age I am.
00:35:13I'm like, no, you ain't coming in here.
00:35:16Ain't nobody seeing me naked.
00:35:18I know how to change my own clothes.
00:35:20I don't care.
00:35:21I don't care if you guys need to get ready for the next scene.
00:35:24I don't care.
00:35:25Madison Shipman
00:35:26While many viewers, former child actors, and other industry figures
00:35:30were shocked by the disturbing revelations in Quiet On Set,
00:35:33some still set out to defend Dan Schneider.
00:35:36I'm sorry, did we start a new conversation?
00:35:38Yeah, what's happening here?
00:35:39From 2015 to 2019,
00:35:41Madison Shipman starred as Kenzie Bell in one of the creators'
00:35:44Nickelodeon shows, Game Shakers.
00:35:46In a lengthy post to Instagram,
00:35:48she addressed the haters and, quote,
00:35:50close-minded trolls who condemned her for supporting Schneider.
00:35:54Shipman urged others to focus on, quote,
00:35:56viable information such as Brian Peck's criminal record,
00:35:59and reiterated that Drake Bell stated Schneider
00:36:02was a source of comfort during the harrowing time.
00:36:04Dan just goes, you don't need to talk any more about it.
00:36:07That's all I needed to hear.
00:36:09Are you okay?
00:36:10You know, do you need anything from me?
00:36:12Is there anything that you need?
00:36:14Brian was spending so much time around me that it was pretty obvious.
00:36:28She also seemingly dismissed the producers' alleged verbal abuse
00:36:32as, quote, some anger moments.
00:36:34Unsurprisingly, Shipman received heavy backlash
00:36:37for her insensitivity to the traumatic experiences
00:36:40of those who came forward.
00:36:42Instead of spending the time that you took
00:36:45being the kind, wonderful person that you are, heart emoji,
00:36:48you could have literally made a letter saying
00:36:50that you support the victims.
00:36:53Just that, that came forward.
00:36:54And I'm sorry if anyone out there has misinformation
00:36:58about where I stand when it comes to these issues.
00:37:01And I believe in protecting the children.
00:37:03You know, whatever you're saying, whatever.
00:37:06That shows everything about you in present day.
00:37:12Giovanni Samuels and Brian Christopher Hearn.
00:37:15It was freeing to get the role on All That,
00:37:20but that wasn't the reality.
00:37:22On April 7th, 2024, Investigation Discovery
00:37:25will premiere a fifth episode as a follow-up
00:37:27to the initial four-part docuseries Quiet on Set.
00:37:30Along with Drake Bell, former All That cast members
00:37:33Giovanni Samuels and Brian Christopher Hearn
00:37:36will return for another interview
00:37:38to discuss the revelations of previous episodes.
00:37:40Your childhood is gonna be a little tainted
00:37:43after watching it, but I hope that it helps you protect
00:37:47the next group of kids that comes up.
00:37:50Since the release, both Samuels and Hearn
00:37:52have kept the conversation going,
00:37:54showing appreciation for all the support
00:37:56from viewers and fans, as well as advocating
00:37:58for change in kids' television.
00:38:00Samuels also defended other former child stars,
00:38:03such as Ariana Grande and Amanda Bynes,
00:38:05who haven't yet made public statements.
00:38:08Joining Samuels and Hearn in the new episode
00:38:10will be another All That alum, Shane Lyons.
00:38:12How did you get in here?
00:38:15To- with the key.
00:38:17What key?
00:38:18The space key.
00:38:19Yeah.
00:38:21What's a space key?
00:38:23What isn't a space key?
00:38:28Matthew Underwood
00:38:30Matthew Underwood, aka Logan Reese on Zoey 101,
00:38:33responded to Quiet on Set with his own traumatic experience
00:38:36as a young actor.
00:38:37He denied having any bad interactions on set,
00:38:40but revealed that he was abused by his former agent,
00:38:43which was the catalyst that made him end his acting career.
00:38:46Underwood said he felt it was necessary
00:38:48to share some personal experiences
00:38:49due to being harassed online by people demanding him
00:38:52to comment on the docuseries.
00:38:54While people commended him for bravely sharing
00:38:56the pain he endured, others, including his former co-star
00:38:59and Quiet on Set participant, Alexa Nicholas,
00:39:02felt part of his statement invalidated
00:39:04what others experienced.
00:39:05When anyone is wanting to be an ally
00:39:08and saying that they support all the victims,
00:39:10that they don't just downplay the predator,
00:39:12for example, as an asshole.
00:39:15That always feels icky because that's not it.
00:39:18And then he's kind of saying, like,
00:39:20he thinks he can work well in the future.
00:39:22I don't know about that.
00:39:23You know what I mean?
00:39:24Like, I don't know about that.
00:39:27So, you know, those are my thoughts for now.
00:39:29I was going to talk about it on Monday,
00:39:30but I thought I would talk with the members first
00:39:32about it before going into open secret,
00:39:34because what he said was very valid
00:39:35when it comes to what happens to, you know,
00:39:38children, adults within the industry,
00:39:40and how these people don't face any consequences
00:39:44and they're still, you know, running amok.
00:39:46Underwood took to Reddit to clarify.
00:39:49Melissa Joan Hart.
00:39:50I'm making a statement, or I will be,
00:39:53as soon as I figure out exactly what that statement is.
00:39:56From 1991 to 1994,
00:39:58Melissa Joan Hart starred as the titular teen
00:40:00Clarissa Darling in Clarissa Explains It All.
00:40:03On a March 29th episode of the Megan McCain
00:40:05Has Entered the Chat podcast,
00:40:07Hart said she'd not yet watched Quiet on Set herself.
00:40:10However, she expressed she was in full support
00:40:13of the survivors.
00:40:14I have to say, I've never heard a story
00:40:15from a Nickelodeon star personally.
00:40:18No one's come to me and talked to me
00:40:20about any of these situations.
00:40:21And that's not to say anything about anyone's story
00:40:23that they, you know, I absolutely trust them,
00:40:26believe them 100%.
00:40:28But my experience was that I was in Orlando
00:40:32from 1989 to 1993 or 4.
00:40:36And I think maybe there was a difference
00:40:38between Hollywood Nickelodeon and Orlando Nickelodeon,
00:40:41although I'm not 100% sure on that.
00:40:44There weren't a lot of the executives were still in,
00:40:47when I was doing it,
00:40:47a lot of the executives were in New York.
00:40:49They were in the 1515 Broadway building,
00:40:51the Viacom building in the center of Times Square.
00:40:54Unlike the shows covered in the docuseries,
00:40:56Clarissa Explains It All was filmed
00:40:58at Nickelodeon's Universal Studios location
00:41:00in Orlando, Florida.
00:41:01Aside from long hours and a packed schedule,
00:41:03Hart said she had a positive experience
00:41:06and worked in an environment she felt was safe
00:41:08with people looking out for her.
00:41:09There were some good eggs.
00:41:10There were some people that really took care of me.
00:41:12I mean, to be honest, a few of them
00:41:14are still my very best friends.
00:41:15So, you know, from the producers down to,
00:41:18you know, the sound guys all took care of me
00:41:20and we're just, we were a wonderful family.
00:41:23Kenan Thompson
00:41:25I have fond memories of that place, you know,
00:41:26and I have fond memories of, you know,
00:41:29my co-stars and stuff like that.
00:41:31So to hear that they've gone through
00:41:36terrible things like that is just, it's really tough.
00:41:38These days, Kenan Thompson is known
00:41:40as a longtime cast member of Saturday Night Live,
00:41:43but 90s kids first got to know him
00:41:45on hit shows All That and the spinoff Kenan & Kel.
00:41:48At the end of March 2024,
00:41:50the SNL cast member appeared on The Tamron Hall Show
00:41:53and was visibly upset while opening up
00:41:55about how hard it was to view the docuseries.
00:41:57I think it's a good thing that the doc is out
00:41:59and is, you know, putting things, you know,
00:42:01on display that need to be, you know,
00:42:03stories that need to be told for this,
00:42:04you know, accountability sake.
00:42:06But it's definitely tough to watch.
00:42:08Although Dan Schneider was credited
00:42:10as a writer and or producer
00:42:11on the two Nickelodeon shows Thompson starred in,
00:42:13as well as the 1997 movie spinoff Good Burger,
00:42:16the actor comedian claimed
00:42:18he wasn't around Schneider often.
00:42:20Still, he expressed his support
00:42:21for the victims and their families
00:42:23and believed that people should,
00:42:24quote, investigate more.
00:42:26Will you be watching episode five?
00:42:28We also reached out, of course,
00:42:30to the production company and they said that,
00:42:31you know, they investigate all of these things,
00:42:35investigate all of the allegations.
00:42:36Well, investigate more.
00:42:41I mean, because it's like, you know,
00:42:45it's supposed to be the same space,
00:42:46you know, it's supposed to be a safe place for kids.
00:42:48And like, to hear all about that is just like,
00:42:52how dare you, you know?
00:42:55Okay, it's now time to see how Hollywood reacted
00:42:58to the revelations surrounding
00:43:00the so-called Epstein list.
00:43:04I don't know Jeffrey Epstein.
00:43:05I've never met Jeffrey Epstein.
00:43:07I'm not on a list.
00:43:08I was not on a plane or an island or anything ever.
00:43:11Welcome to WatchMojo.
00:43:13And today we're looking at the most notable reactions
00:43:15to the unsealed court documents
00:43:17relating to a lawsuit against Jeffrey Epstein
00:43:19and his former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell.
00:43:21Jeffrey Epstein claimed,
00:43:22Bill Clinton likes me young.
00:43:24I mean, are we, like, you know?
00:43:30Mark Epstein.
00:43:31In unredacted court documents,
00:43:33Jeffrey Epstein victims are shown to have recounted
00:43:36many powerful men and women that they met
00:43:38during their time with the late financier.
00:43:40Just some of the famous names among a list of 150
00:43:44revealed overnight in newly unsealed court papers.
00:43:48However, Jeffrey Epstein's brother Mark
00:43:50feels that the release so far means nothing.
00:43:53He reacted to the so-called Epstein list
00:43:55by saying in part,
00:43:56quote, I don't know what to make out of these documents.
00:43:59I don't know how these lists were compiled
00:44:01and I have nothing to do with that,
00:44:03you know, and it's not my business.
00:44:04He says he's not surprised the documents
00:44:06don't contain any bombshells,
00:44:08but he's also convinced his brother Jeffrey Epstein
00:44:11was murdered in jail to keep him quiet
00:44:14about what everyone was hoping
00:44:15would come out in these documents.
00:44:17Mark also continues to believe
00:44:19his brother did not take his own life,
00:44:21but was in fact, quote, murdered.
00:44:23So the question then becomes, if it's a cover-up,
00:44:26I don't think Bill Barr killed my brother,
00:44:29so then who is he covering up for?
00:44:31That becomes the question.
00:44:32Cameron Diaz.
00:44:33In addition to royals, businessmen, and politicians,
00:44:36Jeffrey Epstein socialized with many celebrities
00:44:39during his lifetime.
00:44:40Another major revelation was made about magician
00:44:42David Copperfield.
00:44:44He allegedly performed magic tricks for Epstein
00:44:46and several of his victims.
00:44:48In fact, one of Epstein's victims, Johanna Sjoberg,
00:44:51alleges that Epstein name-dropped plenty of them,
00:44:54including actress Cameron Diaz.
00:44:56I used to be a bright star.
00:45:00Sjoberg says that she never met Diaz, however.
00:45:03Upon the release of her name in the documents,
00:45:05Cameron Diaz issued a statement
00:45:07through her representation denying any connection
00:45:09with Jeffrey Epstein.
00:45:11The statement reads, quote,
00:45:12Cameron never met Jeffrey Epstein,
00:45:14nor was she ever in the same place as him
00:45:16or had any association with him whatsoever.
00:45:27Rainn Wilson and Jax.
00:45:29The Office star Rainn Wilson and Victoria's Secret singer Jax
00:45:32collaborated for an Instagram where they reacted
00:45:35to a particularly disturbing aspect of the released
00:45:37Jeffrey Epstein documents.
00:45:43Namely, the inclusion of Dr. Stephen Hawking's name
00:45:46and the insinuation that he took part
00:45:48in an alleged, quote, underage orgy.
00:45:51The highly anticipated documents also mentioned
00:45:54theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking.
00:45:57Rainn Wilson, who famously played Dwight Schrute
00:46:00on The Office, joined Jax for an expletive-laden
00:46:03musical reaction to the Hawking mention.
00:46:05The best part?
00:46:06It was all done to the tune of The Office theme song.
00:46:10The Royal Family.
00:46:12A major chunk of the released court paper
00:46:14centers on Prince Andrew's affiliation
00:46:16with Jeffrey Epstein.
00:46:18The Duke of York has long been accused
00:46:20of appalling acts by Epstein's victims,
00:46:22and the unsealed court documents further implicate Andrew.
00:46:25No, nothing.
00:46:26It doesn't, never happened.
00:46:28Epstein's housekeeper, also in a Florida court
00:46:31legal deposition, said that you visited
00:46:33the Duke of York's residence,
00:46:34and that you visited the Duke of York's residence
00:46:37in a Florida court legal deposition,
00:46:38said that you visited the Palm Beach residence
00:46:41around four times a year.
00:46:43Many outlets have turned to Buckingham Palace
00:46:45for comment on these accusations,
00:46:46but they have received little response.
00:46:49For the most part, the palace has stayed silent,
00:46:51declining to comment by noting that Andrew
00:46:53is no longer a working royal,
00:46:55and has not been since 2019.
00:46:57I mean, he lost his title of HRH because of all this,
00:47:02and he lost a huge amount of money,
00:47:04and lost all credibility,
00:47:05and was kicked out of public life.
00:47:07So if he hasn't learned the lesson yet,
00:47:08I don't know what will teach him the lesson.
00:47:10They have reiterated their previous statement,
00:47:13saying, quote,
00:47:13Andrew deplores the exploitation of any human being,
00:47:17and the suggestion he would condone,
00:47:19participate in, or encourage any such behavior
00:47:21is abhorrent.
00:47:23As for one of Andrew's daughters, Princess Beatrice,
00:47:25she seemingly showed support for her father
00:47:28by visiting him following the document's release.
00:47:30However, she did not share an official statement.
00:47:34Alan Dershowitz.
00:47:35Former Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz
00:47:38responded to the tranche of documents
00:47:40relating to his former client Jeffrey Epstein
00:47:42with a fiery video defense.
00:47:44And these documents,
00:47:45if all the documents are revealed,
00:47:47will prove categorically that she did misidentify me,
00:47:52that I never met her, never heard of her,
00:47:53never spoke to her.
00:47:55The documents contained allegations
00:47:57that Dershowitz had relations with underage victims,
00:48:00and was named a total of 137 times.
00:48:04His response included in part,
00:48:05quote,
00:48:06Of course I'm on that list.
00:48:07I was his lawyer.
00:48:09I flew on his plane.
00:48:10He added,
00:48:11quote,
00:48:11I had an innocent relationship with a man who I didn't know,
00:48:14and nobody suspected had done anything wrong.
00:48:17He made the case that if someone is accused in court papers,
00:48:20quote,
00:48:21people will assume those accusations must be true,
00:48:24but there is little reason to believe that.
00:48:30In the days leading up to the so-called Epstein list release,
00:48:39late night host Jimmy Kimmel was involved in a public spat
00:48:42with NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
00:48:44This stemmed from an appearance on the Pat McAfee show,
00:48:47where Rodgers insinuated that Kimmel's name
00:48:49would appear on the list.
00:49:00On his first show back from holidays,
00:49:07Kimmel tore into Rodgers during his opening monologue,
00:49:10calling him Karen Rodgers.
00:49:17Kimmel reiterated that he has no connection with Epstein,
00:49:20and would never be listed in any of the documents.
00:49:23As for accusers like Rodgers,
00:49:25he went on to say,
00:49:26quote,
00:49:27This is how these nuts do it now.
00:49:29If you don't like Trump, you're a pedophile.
00:49:31It's their go-to move.
00:49:33And by the way, are you looking for someone
00:49:34who actually was a friend of Jeffrey Epstein,
00:49:37who called him a terrific guy,
00:49:38and bragged about his affinity for younger women?
00:49:41I have very good news, Epstein hunters.
00:49:43I found one for you.
00:49:53Former Fox News personality Megyn Kelly
00:49:55had a rather cryptic response
00:49:56to the newly unsealed court documents.
00:49:58We're not done with Jeffrey Epstein.
00:50:00I can tell you that for a fact.
00:50:01Can't tell you how I know,
00:50:02but I can tell you for a fact.
00:50:04During her SiriusXM podcast,
00:50:06The Megyn Kelly Show,
00:50:07the host said, quote,
00:50:08I can't tell you how I know,
00:50:10but I can tell you for a fact
00:50:12we're gonna hear a lot more about Jeffrey Epstein
00:50:14in the coming year,
00:50:15and you may even be hearing from him directly.
00:50:18She followed by saying, quote,
00:50:20More on that as I'm allowed to tell you.
00:50:22Will there be more?
00:50:23Kelly also made it clear
00:50:25that while the latest revelations
00:50:26were, quote, shocking to her,
00:50:28they were not the least bit surprising.
00:50:30It's shocking, but not surprising.
00:50:32Like I said, we've seen this history
00:50:33of his for a long, long time.
00:50:35Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
00:50:37Politician and presidential hopeful
00:50:39Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
00:50:40responded to the unsealed
00:50:41Jeffrey Epstein court documents
00:50:42by saying that he, quote,
00:50:44will be left unscathed.
00:50:45I think it's important.
00:50:48I mean, I think it's important
00:50:49that he be left unscathed.
00:50:51It's important for the American public
00:50:53to know whether Jeffrey Epstein
00:50:56had some kind of corrupt influence
00:50:58on public officials
00:50:59or any public figure.
00:51:00The independent presidential candidate
00:51:02previously admitted
00:51:03that he flew on Epstein's plane.
00:51:05However, he has yet to be named
00:51:07in the unsealed documents.
00:51:08You weren't on Epstein's get,
00:51:10well, I mean, twice,
00:51:10you know, with my family,
00:51:11once to go fossil hunting,
00:51:12but aside from that.
00:51:13Kennedy Jr. said, quote,
00:51:15I like what's happening today.
00:51:17I like the fact that all these papers
00:51:18are being released.
00:51:20I've been an advocate for transparency.
00:51:22I think the government
00:51:23keeps too many secrets.
00:51:24He also hopes that the releases continue
00:51:27until everything is made public.
00:51:29I hope everything that is known
00:51:31about Jeffrey Epstein comes out.
00:51:35While Bill Clinton is not implicated
00:51:37in anything illegal
00:51:38in the unsealed court papers,
00:51:39the former president was mentioned
00:51:41as having a specific preference
00:51:42in the opposite sex.
00:51:44The release of Johanna Schauberg's
00:51:452016 testimony revealed
00:51:47that Jeffrey Epstein told her
00:51:48that Clinton, quote, likes them young.
00:51:51She is asked, did Jeffrey ever talk
00:51:54to you about Bill Clinton?
00:51:56She responds, he said one time
00:51:59that Clinton likes them young.
00:52:01Angel Ureña, a Clinton spokesperson,
00:52:03responded to the latest claims
00:52:04by telling Newsweek that, quote,
00:52:06nothing has changed
00:52:07since Bill's 2019 statement.
00:52:10That being that Clinton continues
00:52:11to stand by the fact that he, quote,
00:52:13knew nothing about Epstein's crimes.
00:52:15A spokesman for Clinton referred NBC News
00:52:17to a prior statement from 2019,
00:52:20saying he had not spoken
00:52:21to Epstein in over a decade
00:52:23and was unaware of Epstein's crimes.
00:52:26Ureña confirmed President Clinton
00:52:27took four trips on Epstein's plane
00:52:29in 2002 and 2003,
00:52:31but had not spoken to him
00:52:32in over a decade prior to his passing.
00:52:36Jeffrey Epstein's accomplice
00:52:38and former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell,
00:52:39has reacted to the released
00:52:41trove of court documents
00:52:42that, in part, named several
00:52:44of their associates.
00:52:45Through her attorneys,
00:52:46Arthur Aidala and Diana Fabi-Sampson,
00:52:49Maxwell continued to insist
00:52:50she is innocent of any wrongdoing.
00:52:52The statement also says that, quote,
00:52:54Ghislaine Maxwell took no position
00:52:56on the court's recent decision
00:52:57to unseal documents in Jouffre v. Maxwell,
00:52:59as these disclosures have no bearing
00:53:01on her or her pending appeal.
00:53:04They iterated that Maxwell's focus
00:53:05is on the upcoming appellate argument
00:53:07in which she's asking for her
00:53:08entire case to be dismissed.
00:53:10I don't think she has anything
00:53:11to talk about, except maybe that
00:53:13if you look at this crime,
00:53:14this overall crime,
00:53:15it's all about men abusing women
00:53:18for a long period of time.
00:53:19A lot of men.
00:53:20That's what we're waiting for this list.
00:53:21And there's only one person in jail, a woman.
00:53:24What has been your reaction
00:53:25to the unsealed Epstein court documents?
00:53:27What the, what the f*** is that?
00:53:31Really, what the f*** is he doing?
00:53:34As shocking investigations unfolded
00:53:37against Sean Diddy Combs,
00:53:39celebrities began to react.
00:53:41From shock to silence.
00:53:44Take a look.
00:53:45The former Danity Kane member
00:53:47writing on Instagram,
00:53:48what you saw, you shall read.
00:53:50Welcome to WatchMojo.
00:53:51And today we're looking at
00:53:52notable celebrity reactions
00:53:54to the illicit allegations levied
00:53:56against Sean Diddy Combs
00:53:57in the ongoing investigation.
00:53:59I just don't like it.
00:54:00I don't like it just because it's sad.
00:54:02Like, you know, how many,
00:54:03how many people's legacies
00:54:04have we watched burn to the ground?
00:54:08Kesha.
00:54:08During the halfway point
00:54:10of Renee Rapp's performance
00:54:11at Coachella 2024,
00:54:13the Snow Angel singer brought out
00:54:14a surprise special guest, Kesha.
00:54:17The renowned pop star
00:54:18proceeded to give a rendition
00:54:19of her 2010 hit song, TikTok.
00:54:21However, Kesha would go on
00:54:23to change a key lyric.
00:54:25The original opening to the song went,
00:54:27Wake up in the morning
00:54:29feeling like P. Diddy.
00:54:31But for this performance,
00:54:32she added an expletive
00:54:34before Diddy's name
00:54:35and promptly put her middle finger
00:54:37in the air alongside rap.
00:54:39This in reaction to the music mogul's
00:54:41ongoing litany of legal troubles.
00:54:44I'm like, P. Diddy, where my-
00:54:47Akon.
00:54:47You're so beautiful.
00:54:51So damn beautiful.
00:54:54When the folks at TMZ
00:54:56caught up with Akon at LAX,
00:54:57they asked the multi-platinum
00:54:59recording artist for his thoughts
00:55:00on Sean Combs' string of accusations
00:55:02and scandals.
00:55:03When discussing Diddy's infamous party scene,
00:55:05Akon noted that he himself
00:55:07does not party much
00:55:08and therefore doesn't know
00:55:09about those details.
00:55:10Everyone's been there.
00:55:11Well, I mean-
00:55:12The Kardashians, everybody.
00:55:14The thing is, I don't really party much,
00:55:16so I couldn't really speak much on it.
00:55:17However, he did say that
00:55:19quote, God knows best
00:55:21and is quote, dealing with it.
00:55:23He added that he is quote,
00:55:24praying for the man.
00:55:25Speaking of Diddy.
00:55:27I would like to say, you know,
00:55:30just pray for the man.
00:55:33Akon finished by saying
00:55:34that the situation was
00:55:35unfortunate for the business,
00:55:37but that 2024 will be quote,
00:55:39the year of truth in the music industry.
00:55:42How he's exposed,
00:55:43to whom he's exposed from,
00:55:44those things, I mean,
00:55:48everyone's gonna have to answer
00:55:49for what we do on this earth.
00:55:53Aubrey O'Day is a former singer
00:55:55for the Danity Kane girl group
00:55:56and has long called out her former boss,
00:55:59Sean Diddy Combs.
00:56:06So when Combs' L.A. and Miami homes
00:56:08were the subject of a federal raid,
00:56:10O'Day took to social media
00:56:12to share her thoughts.
00:56:13Along with screenshots of the events,
00:56:15Aubrey wrote quote,
00:56:17what you sow, you shall reap
00:56:19and hoped the situation
00:56:20would embolden victims to speak out.
00:56:22And now Aubrey's praying
00:56:24it paves the way for quote,
00:56:25all of us victims to finally speak out
00:56:27on what we've endured.
00:56:28She also called out Diddy
00:56:29for reportedly taking off to Barbuda
00:56:31during the investigation.
00:56:33O'Day has previously accused Combs
00:56:35of abusive behavior
00:56:36on the set of the reality show,
00:56:38Making the Band.
00:56:39It isn't easy to take on
00:56:40one of the most powerful people
00:56:42in the industry.
00:56:43Cassie.
00:56:43Cassie made several damning accusations
00:56:46against her former partner of 11 years,
00:56:48Sean Diddy Combs,
00:56:49in November of 2023.
00:56:51After years in silence and darkness,
00:56:54she's finally ready to tell her story.
00:56:56After filing a lawsuit against Combs
00:56:58for what she called repeated abuse,
00:57:00the two settled out of court.
00:57:02However, when news of the raids
00:57:04against her ex broke,
00:57:05Cassie shared a statement.
00:57:07In part, the singer and dancer
00:57:08showed support for law enforcement.
00:57:10She also hoped that this was quote,
00:57:12the beginning of a process
00:57:14that will hold Mr. Combs responsible
00:57:16for his depraved conduct.
00:57:18Many believe the ongoing investigation
00:57:20against Diddy is directly connected
00:57:22to Cassie's allegations.
00:57:23This has yet to be made clear though.
00:57:25Lawyers said in a statement in part
00:57:27that his client vehemently denies
00:57:29the allegations,
00:57:30calling them baseless and outrageous.
00:57:32Suge Knight.
00:57:33Convicted felon Suge Knight
00:57:35reacted to Combs' recent troubles
00:57:36on the Collect Call podcast,
00:57:38which the music executive hosts
00:57:40from a California state prison.
00:57:41The Death Row Records founder
00:57:43showed empathy for his long-time
00:57:44rival's family,
00:57:45especially his sons.
00:57:54However, he would go on to say
00:57:56that Combs' life is in danger.
00:57:58This because he quote,
00:57:59knows the secrets and who's involved
00:58:01in the quote,
00:58:02little secret room.
00:58:09Knight encouraged Diddy to turn himself
00:58:11over to the authorities,
00:58:12just as he did.
00:58:14He also offered some advice
00:58:15as it relates to Combs' latest nickname,
00:58:17saying quote,
00:58:18brother love is not a good codename
00:58:20for prison.
00:58:28Megan McCain.
00:58:30There is no question
00:58:31that the allegations against Diddy
00:58:33are not true.
00:58:34The allegations against Diddy
00:58:35are not true.
00:58:36Diddy's Los Angeles and Miami mansions
00:58:39raided by SWAT teams.
00:58:41His sons, Justin and King,
00:58:42in handcuffs in their own yard.
00:58:44It's also caused some people
00:58:46who you might not expect to speak out.
00:58:49One such individual is former co-host
00:58:51of The View, Megan McCain.
00:58:53McCain weighed in on the Diddy situation
00:58:55by posting on X, quote,
00:58:56we all really need to start listening
00:58:58to every single thing
00:59:00Captain America has to say.
00:59:01Diddy is not the only person
00:59:03who has been accused of raping Diddy.
00:59:05Every single thing Cat Williams is saying.
00:59:08This was in reference
00:59:09to an infamous interview
00:59:10comedian Cat Williams gave
00:59:11on the Club Shea Shea podcast.
00:59:13It was there that Williams
00:59:15discussed having to say no
00:59:16when quote,
00:59:17P. Diddy wants to party.
00:59:19The post has since been deleted.
00:59:21Uh, because P. Diddy be wanting to party
00:59:23and you gotta tell him no.
00:59:25You gotta tell him no.
00:59:28I did.
00:59:29Slim Thug.
00:59:35Houston rapper Slim Thug
00:59:37has been a longtime supporter of Diddy's,
00:59:39even throughout the music mogul's
00:59:40most incriminatory allegations.
00:59:42And so when Combs' legal troubles
00:59:44mounted during the homeland security raids,
00:59:47Thug once again showed his dismay
00:59:48at the situation.
00:59:49I ain't got no criminal case, man.
00:59:52And you innocent until you proven guilty.
00:59:54The rapper took to Instagram to say
00:59:56that the black community was quote,
00:59:57losing another billionaire
00:59:59over the allegations.
01:00:00He also pointed the finger
01:00:02at those wishing for Diddy to fall,
01:00:04saying that quote,
01:00:04it's his own people.
01:00:06This is a perfect example
01:00:08of how fast the public will turn on you, kid.
01:00:12Without no criminal charges,
01:00:13the public will turn on you.
01:00:15He concluded his Instagram live video
01:00:17by stating he didn't want to see anybody
01:00:19quote, go down
01:00:20and was simply hoping for the best.
01:00:23Charlamagne Tha God.
01:00:24Radio host, comedian, and businessman
01:00:26Charlamagne Tha God
01:00:27took time during an episode
01:00:28of the Brilliant Idiots podcast
01:00:30to reflect on the ongoing situation
01:00:32surrounding Diddy.
01:00:33Why do people always got to crash and burn?
01:00:38Like always.
01:00:39Like, like, like,
01:00:40I don't like seeing another legacy
01:00:42go up in smoke.
01:00:43Charlamagne expressed sadness
01:00:45over the situation.
01:00:46He was particularly upset
01:00:48over Combs' legacy being completely ruined.
01:00:50I just don't like it.
01:00:52I don't like it just because it's sad.
01:00:53Like, you know, how many,
01:00:54how many people's legacies
01:00:55have we watched burn to the ground?
01:00:57When his show co-host Andrew Schultz
01:00:59countered by saying that some legacy
01:01:01should be quote,
01:01:02burned to the ground
01:01:02when it involves individuals hurting others,
01:01:04Charlamagne responded by saying
01:01:07He suggested that everyone
01:01:09has mixed emotions about Diddy's downfall
01:01:11and are quote,
01:01:12lying to themselves if they say they don't.
01:01:14We all were inspired by them
01:01:15if you were in entertainment
01:01:16because you wanted to build
01:01:18what they built.
01:01:19R. Kelly.
01:01:20Disgraced singer R. Kelly,
01:01:22who is serving a 30-year prison sentence,
01:01:24reacted to the Diddy situation
01:01:26during a conversation with WAC-100.
01:01:28In response to Combs' homes being raided,
01:01:31Kelly says federal agents are quote,
01:01:33mad because he's flagrant.
01:01:34He went on to say that he doesn't believe
01:01:36the allegations levied against Diddy.
01:01:38He also took issue with others
01:01:40making light of the situation in the media.
01:01:42He cautioned that while they're making jokes
01:01:44and laughing about it,
01:01:45quote,
01:01:46they could be next.
01:01:47It's so stupid.
01:01:48They don't even realize the move that's going on.
01:01:50I mean, it's crazy, man.
01:01:51I mean, that's why I don't believe none of this.
01:01:52Kelly believes that celebrities
01:01:54are being targeted
01:01:54regardless of if the allegations
01:01:56are true or false.
01:01:5850 Cent.
01:01:59Perhaps no one has trolled Sean Diddy Combs
01:02:02more during his ongoing scandal than 50 Cent.
01:02:10The rapper has relentlessly taunted Diddy
01:02:12with a barrage of posts on his social media.
01:02:14This includes posting a clip
01:02:16of Mike Tyson and Combs on a talk show
01:02:17where 50 Cent says Tyson wasn't happy
01:02:19with the position of Diddy's hand.
01:02:22He's also shared plenty of jokes
01:02:24and expletive-filled comments aimed at Diddy.
01:02:26He even posted a Donald Trump deepfake
01:02:28where video of the former president
01:02:30is manipulated to show him
01:02:31discussing Diddy's woes.
01:02:33All too obscene to play here.
01:02:35If one thing's for sure,
01:02:36it's that 50 Cent is enjoying
01:02:38the downfall of Sean Diddy Combs.
01:02:52What has been your reaction
01:02:54to the allegations against Diddy?
01:02:55Well, P. Diddy does it.
01:02:58Homes in LA and Miami
01:03:00raided by federal agents.
01:03:02Few people would have expected
01:03:04Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni
01:03:06to find themselves in a bitter public feud
01:03:10following the release of their film
01:03:11It Ends With Us.
01:03:12And yet, here we are.
01:03:15Here's how the entertainment industry reacted.
01:03:18Amber Heard is coming
01:03:20to Blake Lively's defense.
01:03:22Welcome to WatchMojo,
01:03:23and today we're looking at notable celebrities
01:03:25who have weighed in on the public feud
01:03:27between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni
01:03:29and the shocking accusations
01:03:31the Hollywood stars have levied
01:03:32against one another.
01:03:33Does this guy have a charity?
01:03:34I feel he has big, like, charity energy,
01:03:37like, like, like women's equality
01:03:41charity energy.
01:03:43Colleen Hoover.
01:03:45When filmmaker and actor
01:03:46Justin Baldoni's Wayfarer Studios
01:03:48took on the film adaptation
01:03:50of Colleen Hoover's best-selling novel
01:03:51It Ends With Us,
01:03:52the author initially expressed excitement
01:03:54over the project,
01:03:55calling Lively her, quote,
01:03:57dream lily,
01:03:58and applauded Baldoni as the, quote,
01:04:00perfect rile.
01:04:01Are you happy?
01:04:06Um, are you okay?
01:04:10Yeah, I'm just, I'm just curious.
01:04:18I wasn't.
01:04:22You make me happy.
01:04:25Are you happy?
01:04:26However, after Blake Lively
01:04:28filed a bombshell lawsuit
01:04:30alleging that Justin Baldoni's behavior
01:04:32caused her, quote,
01:04:33severe emotional distress
01:04:34while working on the film,
01:04:36Hoover publicly expressed her support
01:04:37for Lively in an Instagram story.
01:04:39Hoover herself coming out in support of Lively
01:04:42on social media this weekend.
01:04:43Sharing a photo of herself and the actress,
01:04:45she praised their bond with the caption,
01:04:47quote,
01:04:48you have been nothing but honest, kind,
01:04:50supportive and patient
01:04:51since the day we met.
01:04:53She concluded her message
01:04:54with heartfelt thanks,
01:04:55adding, quote,
01:04:56never change, never wilt.
01:05:03Following a December 21st, 2024
01:05:06New York Times report titled
01:05:07We Can Bury Anyone
01:05:08Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine,
01:05:11many of Blake Lively's co-stars
01:05:12spoke out in her defense.
01:05:14The allegations first made public
01:05:15in a New York Times investigation
01:05:17by Megan Toohey,
01:05:18whose reporting on sex abuse in Hollywood
01:05:20helped trigger the Me Too movement.
01:05:22Among them were America Ferreira,
01:05:24Amber Tamblyn and Alexis Bledel,
01:05:26who took to social media
01:05:27to release a joint statement.
01:05:29As longtime friends of Lively
01:05:30since their days filming 2005's
01:05:32Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,
01:05:34the trio stated that they stand with her
01:05:36in solidarity as she, quote,
01:05:38fights back against the reported campaign
01:05:40waged to destroy her reputation.
01:05:42This being in reference
01:05:43to the New York Times claim
01:05:44that Justin Baldoni attempted to, quote,
01:05:46bury Lively through a coordinated
01:05:48social media takedown
01:05:49with the help of a crisis PR firm.
01:05:51It's really a story that raises questions
01:05:54about the integrity and authenticity
01:05:57of the online narratives that exist today
01:06:01and to what extent they're being manipulated
01:06:04by people for hire.
01:06:05The 80-page legal complaint,
01:06:07a precursor to a possible lawsuit,
01:06:09alleges in graphic detail harassment
01:06:11by Baldoni on the production set,
01:06:13including kissing and touching Lively
01:06:14in unwanted ways during filming
01:06:17and repeatedly commenting on her appearance,
01:06:19weight, and sexual history.
01:06:20An attorney for Baldoni
01:06:22calling the allegations categorically false.
01:06:26Outspoken comedian Whitney Cummings
01:06:28didn't hold back when addressing
01:06:29the Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively discourse
01:06:32in a TikTok video.
01:06:33Cummings criticized Baldoni
01:06:34for what she describes as, quote,
01:06:36performative feminism
01:06:38and took several digs at his past behavior,
01:06:40saying, in part,
01:06:41I don't like when guys,
01:06:43especially symmetrical ones,
01:06:45try to get points
01:06:47for being like a feminist
01:06:49or like an ally.
01:06:51She also accused him of having, quote,
01:06:53big charity energy,
01:06:54suggesting he might use donations
01:06:56to charities as a way to mask bad behavior.
01:06:59What else have you changed?
01:07:00Oh, your wife's mind
01:07:02on her stance on polyamory?
01:07:05Baldoni had previously been recognized
01:07:07by the organization Vital Voices
01:07:09for elevating women
01:07:10and helping to end domestic violence.
01:07:13However, they rescinded his award
01:07:15in the aftermath of Blake Lively's lawsuit.
01:07:19Much like Blake Lively's sister, Robin,
01:07:21her brother-in-law, actor Bart Johnson,
01:07:24has been very vocal
01:07:25in support of the Gossip Girl alum.
01:07:27Responding to the New York Times expose,
01:07:30he reminded fans that, quote,
01:07:31her complaints were filed during filmmaking
01:07:34and added that, quote,
01:07:35the cast unfollowed him for a reason.
01:07:37This was in reference to an earlier discovery
01:07:40where the actors of It Ends With Us
01:07:41were found to be following Blake
01:07:42but not Justin on social media.
01:07:45Johnson further criticized Baldoni's PR team,
01:07:47calling them, in part, quote,
01:07:49gross and disgusting.
01:07:50This really reveals a new playbook.
01:07:53This raises questions about
01:07:54who else is sort of being targeted.
01:07:56I mean, to use their own language,
01:07:58they use the terms social manipulation.
01:08:01The legal battle only beginning,
01:08:03the PR battle raging on.
01:08:05The high school musical actor
01:08:06had previously defended Lively
01:08:08during backlash over her perceived,
01:08:09quote, tone-deaf efforts
01:08:11during the It Ends With Us promotional tour.
01:08:13Drama surrounding It Ends With Us
01:08:15has been all the talk lately
01:08:16and unfortunately with so much attention,
01:08:18Blake Lively has been put in the hot seat
01:08:21on social media.
01:08:22Christina Ricci
01:08:23Responses to Blake Lively
01:08:25and Justin Baldoni's feud
01:08:26have come from some unexpected figures,
01:08:28one such being Christina Ricci.
01:08:30The veteran actress took to Instagram
01:08:32to voice her support for Blake Lively,
01:08:34as well as Amber Heard,
01:08:36both of whom have been
01:08:37at the center of discussions
01:08:38about the demonization of women
01:08:40on social media.
01:08:41Curiously, Ricci's past work
01:08:43includes films with Amber Heard's ex,
01:08:45Johnny Depp,
01:08:46including the movies
01:08:47Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
01:08:49and Sleepy Hollow.
01:09:06In her post,
01:09:07Ricci criticized
01:09:08the perceived societal manipulation
01:09:10that pits women against each other
01:09:11and called for reflection,
01:09:13writing, quote,
01:09:14misogyny exploits the jealousy
01:09:16women feel for each other,
01:09:17specifically when it comes
01:09:19to beautiful women and girls.
01:09:21Brandon Sklenar
01:09:22When it comes to the cast
01:09:24of It Ends With Us,
01:09:25they appeared aside with their co-star,
01:09:26Blake Lively.
01:09:28Following the New York Times story,
01:09:30Brandon Sklenar,
01:09:31who played Atlas
01:09:32in the $351 million grossing film,
01:09:35showed his support for Blake
01:09:36by urging followers
01:09:37to view the report,
01:09:38writing, quote,
01:09:39for the love of God, read this.
01:09:41Earlier in August,
01:09:43during the film's contentious press tour,
01:09:45he also defended Lively,
01:09:46calling the backlash, quote,
01:09:48disheartening and condemned
01:09:50the online backlash.
01:09:51Blake is receiving backlash
01:09:52for responding to a serious question
01:09:54in reference to the theme of the movie,
01:09:56which is domestic violence with a joke.
01:09:59So if someone understands
01:10:01the themes of this movie,
01:10:02comes across you in public
01:10:04and they want to really talk to you,
01:10:05what's the best way for them
01:10:07to be able to talk to you about this?
01:10:08How would you recommend they go about it?
01:10:09Like asking for like my address
01:10:11or my phone number
01:10:13or like my location share.
01:10:14I could just location share you
01:10:16and then we could...
01:10:18He took to social media to say, quote,
01:10:21vilifying the women
01:10:22who put so much of their heart and soul
01:10:24into making this film
01:10:25because they believe so strongly
01:10:26in its message seems counterproductive
01:10:28and detracts from what this film is about.
01:10:31Jenny Slate
01:10:32Blake Lively's It Ends With Us
01:10:33co-star, Jenny Slate,
01:10:35defends her amid the legal drama
01:10:37playing out with Justin Beldoni
01:10:40after Blake accuses him
01:10:41of trying to destroy her reputation.
01:10:44Another It Ends With Us performer,
01:10:46Jenny Slate,
01:10:46has made it clear
01:10:47that she also stands with her, quote,
01:10:49castmate and friend, Blake Lively.
01:10:51I know it's like the beauty
01:10:53of what a flower is.
01:10:54This is ridiculous.
01:10:55The beauty of what a flower is
01:10:56has been lost, right?
01:10:58It's like we order them like takeout now.
01:11:01It's yes, right?
01:11:02So it's what you're talking about.
01:11:04It's highlighting the pain
01:11:05and the tension and the,
01:11:08you know,
01:11:08the fact that it's fleeting
01:11:09and storytelling.
01:11:10And I don't know,
01:11:12that's actually what I find
01:11:13beautiful about it.
01:11:13And that's what I'm trying to do here.
01:11:15So that's absolutely beautiful.
