00:00Can't nobody take my pride, can't nobody hold me down, oh no
00:07Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at famous figures whose reputations were seriously damaged in 2024
00:13While some may rebound by this time next year, others seem destined to traverse a long, possibly infinite road with redemption forever out of reach
00:20The notion that I had the power to just produce whatever I wanted and have it, is completely false
00:26Okay
00:26There were many, many levels of scrutiny
00:31Katy Perry
00:32Sexy, confident, so intelligent
00:39143 marked Katy Perry's first studio album in nearly four years
00:43Perry took a hiatus from original music, focusing on American Idol, her Vegas residency, and her daughter
00:48Motherhood and female empowerment were the inspirations behind songs like Woman's World
00:52Many found this hypocritical, considering that Perry collaborated on the album with Dr. Luke, who was accused of sexually assaulting Kesha years earlier
00:59She's a winner, champion, superhuman, number one
01:07Kesha also claimed Luke assaulted Perry, which she denied
01:10Although Kesha's case was settled out of court, Perry's controversial decision to re-team with Luke sent a mixed message
01:16It didn't help that the album itself was a critical dud and underperformed on the charts
01:20With the consensus being that Perry lost her spark following so much time away from songwriting
01:24It's a woman's world and you're lucky to be living in it
01:29Jennifer Lopez
01:30Pop superstar Jennifer Lopez has new music on the way
01:33J.Lo celebrated the 20th anniversary of her hit album, This Is Me, then
01:37By announcing a new project called This Is Me Now
01:40The soon-to-be-released record will chronicle Lopez's life journey across the last 20 years
01:45With new songs about her childhood, as well as her history of unsuccessful relationships
01:49Jennifer Lopez seemed poised to kick off 2024 on a high note with her ninth studio album, This Is Me Now
01:56Lopez herself covered the album's $20 million budget, an investment she seemed likely to make back given the high volume of publicity
02:02The album even received a companion documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told
02:06Which some, specifically those from the Bronx, found inauthentic
02:26The album's reception wasn't much better, not even cracking the Billboard 200's top 20
02:30Although a tour was planned, Lopez pulled the plug only a few months before her divorce from Ben Affleck was announced
02:36In addition to rumors about Bennifer, Lopez's past relationship with P. Diddy returned to the zeitgeist amid his scandal
02:42Yeah, we'll get to that later
02:56I did really find the beauty and the poetry and the irony in the fact that it's The Greatest Love Story Never Told
03:05Blake Lively
03:06The beauty of what a flower is has been lost, right? It's, it's um, it's like we order them like takeout now
03:13It's, it's yes, right? You know, so it's what you're talking about
03:15It's highlighting the pain and the tension and the, you know, the fact that it's fleeting and storytelling
03:22And, I don't know, that's actually what I find beautiful about it
03:25As far as box office goes, few enjoyed a better year than Blake Lively
03:29She had a prominent cameo in the billion dollar blockbuster Deadpool and Wolverine
03:33And headlined another hit with It Ends With Us
03:35Doing publicity for the latter film though, Lively's public image suffered
03:39Lively was already under a magnifying glass due to her alleged feud with director slash co-star Justin Baldoni
03:44What are you doing?
03:47Nothing
03:48You got it, you have to stop, you have to stop this
03:52Please
03:53What?
03:54This, the, you know, staring at me like that and the
03:58I'm just looking at you
03:59Okay, you're just looking
04:01Stop showing up at my flower shop and sending me flowers
04:04My sister works there
04:05Since the film explores domestic violence, many found it tone deaf that Lively promoted her new hair care brand around this time
04:10Although a source claims the product launch wasn't meant to coincide with the film's release
04:14It made for an uncomfortable connection with Lively at the center
04:17Lively nonetheless maintained a flowery presence while doing press
04:20Suggesting movie goers adopt a similar floral ensemble
04:22Are you happy?
04:27Um, are you okay?
04:31Yeah, I'm just, I'm just curious
04:39I wasn't
04:41Neil Gaiman
04:42From Coraline to Stardust to the Sandman series
04:45Neil Gaiman is a prolific author whose influence has extended to TV and film
04:50While his stories and their adaptations may endure
04:52Gaiman's career possibly reached its abrupt end in 2024
04:55As five women accused him of sexual misconduct
04:58Among Gaiman's accusers was his child's former nanny
05:01Who had been a fan before he allegedly assaulted her hours after their first meeting
05:04Although Gaiman has denied the accusations against him
05:07Several of the productions associated with him were put on hold
05:10This included the final season of Good Omens
05:12Which will now be produced as a 90-minute special without Gaiman's involvement
05:15Disney's film adaptation of Gaiman's The Graveyard Book also might be dead and buried after this
05:19Little Dirk
05:25In 2022, rapper Kwando Rondo, his sister, and his cousin Lil Pab
05:30Were the victims of an LA shooting that cost the latter their life
05:33Two years later, six arrests were made in the case
05:35All of them had ties to the Only the Family record label
05:38Including its founder, Little Dirk Devontae Banks
05:41You know Alex, this is a very serious charge
05:43Conspiracy is one of those charges that
05:46All it takes is voluntary knowledge
05:49So as long as you had any conversation with two or more
05:53About something, a plan to further this plot for hire
05:57And it resulted in a death
05:59You are looking at those either life imprisonment and up to the death penalty
06:03Little Dirk is the suspected ringleader in a murder-for-hire plot
06:06That supposedly targeted Rondo as retribution for the killing of King Von
06:10In exchange for Rondo's life, Little Dirk allegedly offered his five associates
06:14A hefty payday and future perks
06:16Dirk is pleaded not guilty, although he's likely to remain in custody
06:19Leading up to his trial, which is set for early 2025
06:22Chicago rapper Lil Dirk has pleaded not guilty to a murder-for-hire plot in LA
06:26Reports out of LA say Dirk, whose real name is Dirk Devontae Banks
06:30Entered the plea this afternoon and was ordered held in the federal prison there
06:34Dirk is accused of paying five people to kill a rival in LA
06:38Sean Kingston
06:40You're way too beautiful, girl
06:44That's why it'll never work
06:47Sean Kingston is another singer who went to jail in 2024
06:50Although he might be the only one who faced the music with his mother, Janice Turner
06:54The mother and son were arrested following a raid at Kingston's Miami mansion, which he rents
06:58Two months later, they found themselves being indicted for wire fraud and conspiracy
07:02This came all after BSO received complaints that the singer had not completed certain payments
07:09So he was not home when they raided his house, so he was arrested over in California
07:14His mother arrested right here in South Florida
07:16Kingston and Turner stand accused of fraudulently purchasing $1 million worth of luxury items
07:21That they allegedly didn't pay for
07:23It isn't the first time Turner has been linked to theft
07:25A year before Kingston released Beautiful Girls, Turner pleaded guilty to bank fraud, serving 1.5 years
07:30Kingston and Turner could see much longer sentences if found guilty this time, amounting to 20 years per count
07:36Jimmy Mr. Beast Donaldson
07:38Well, it's not The Hunger Games, but Beast Games
07:42That's at the center of the lawsuit here
07:44Amazon MGM Studios announced the show and its $5 million cash prize
07:49Now five people are taking the company that produces Mr. Beast's show and Amazon to court in California
07:56They cite poor working conditions
07:58Whether you call him Jimmy or Mr. Beast, this internet personality has dominated social media for more than a decade
08:03He's even ventured beyond the web as of late with Amazon Prime Video
08:06Picking up the reality competition series Beast Games
08:09This series has also been the subject of controversy
08:11As multiple contestants have named Mr. Beast, Amazon, and others in a class action lawsuit
08:16Previously when we've asked Mr. Beast reps about similar allegations
08:20They pointed to his charity work
08:22They also told us that one particular shoot in Vegas
08:25Was quote, unfortunately complicated by unexpected logistical and communications issues
08:31And they've taken steps to ensure that we learn from this experience
08:35The accusations include being deprived of essential resources like food
08:38Receiving no overtime pay and enduring sexual harassment
08:41It wasn't the first time that Mr. Beast faced allegations of creating a toxic work environment
08:45Whether or not the lawsuit plays in his favor
08:47The scandal gave the show a bad reputation before it even debuted
08:50Calling Mr. Beast's future endeavors into question
08:53So he is hugely influential, hugely popular
08:57Despite some of this bad press that is now coming out
09:00So we're going to have to wait and see how it all plays out of course for Mr. Beast
09:03And his brands going forward
09:05But nonetheless, very popular amongst the younger folk
09:08Yeah, those kids these days
09:10Alright, I'm going to have to tune in
09:11Yasmin, thanks very much
09:13Kanye West
09:14What you doing in the club on a Thursday
09:17She said she only here for a girl birthday
09:20From interrupting Taylor Swift's VMA acceptance speech
09:23To breaking bread with a white nationalist
09:25Kanye West has quote unquote ruined his career more than a few times over the years
09:29Yet, there's rarely been an erratic decision he couldn't bounce back from
09:322024 might mark the beginning of Ye's true downfall however
09:36Former assistant Lauren Pesciata has brought multiple lawsuits against West
09:40Accusing the rapper of wrongful termination, breach of contract, and sexual harassment
09:44Filled with champagne but still look thirsty
09:47Rock forever 21 but just turned 13
09:50This includes allegedly being drugged and assaulted during a recording session linked to West and P. Diddy
09:56While West called Pesciata's accusations baseless
09:58He's facing yet another lawsuit from America's Next Top Model's Jen Anne
10:01Who claims he sexually strangled and gagged her on a music video set in 2010
10:05I know I got a bad reputation
10:08Walk around always mad reputation
10:11Leave a pretty girl sad reputation
10:14Dan Schneider
10:15Watching over the past two nights was very difficult
10:18Me facing my past behaviors
10:21Some of which are embarrassing and that I regret
10:24And I definitely owe some people a pretty strong apology
10:28Some might argue that Dan Schneider's career was ruined several years ago
10:31When accusations of his allegedly cruel and unethical behavior first surfaced
10:35Leading to his termination at Nickelodeon
10:37Whatever little hope of a comeback was seemingly crushed in 2024
10:40With the docuseries Quiet on Set
10:42Although he wasn't the only controversial figure covered
10:45Much of the reported trauma at Nickelodeon was traced back to Schneider
10:48Let's talk about the massages
10:50Okay
10:51Watching the content yesterday, it was disturbing
10:54It was wrong
10:55It was wrong that I ever put anybody in that position
10:57It was the wrong thing to do
10:58I'd never do it today
10:59I'm embarrassed that I did it then
11:01I apologize to anybody that I ever put in that situation
11:04As new stories of sexism and angry outbursts were revealed
11:08Schneider responded in an interview with iCarly actor Boogie
11:11While Schneider owned up to a few of his mistakes
11:13He claimed some of the accusations against him were untrue
11:16Many viewed the video as a disingenuous apology
11:18Writing off Schneider for good if they hadn't already
11:21No writer should ever feel uncomfortable in any writer's room
11:24Ever
11:25Period, the end
11:26Again, no excuses
11:28Most TV writers, comedy writers have been in writer's rooms
11:32And they are aware that a lot of times
11:34There are inappropriate jokes made
11:36And inappropriate topics come up

11:53P. Diddy
11:54The case against Sean Combs
11:55Might as well just be called the freak-offs
11:57These allegedly illegal freak-offs
12:00It's all about the freak-offs in one way, shape, or form
12:03Freak-offs?
12:04Freak-offs
12:05Freak-offs
12:06Freak-offs
12:07The freak-offs sometimes lasted days at a time
12:09Prosecutors say that these were elaborately produced events
12:13It's safe to say that no celebrity
12:15Had a more substantial fall from grace in 2024 than Sean Combs
12:18Depending on how things go in 2025
12:20It could be the biggest downfall since Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby
12:23The leaked video of Diddy assaulting former partner Cassie Ventura
12:27Would have been enough to warrant a spot here
12:29The PR nightmare continued to balloon
12:31As 120 accusers took legal action against Diddy
12:34Citing various sex crimes
12:35Federal prosecutors said Sean Combs did not act alone
12:39He had assistants, managers, security staff
12:42Who would make sure that women and male prostitutes
12:45Were at these freak-offs
12:47That the hotel rooms where they were staged
12:50Were stocked with supplies like baby oil and lubricant
12:53Many supposedly took place at Diddy's so-called freak-offs
12:56Painting his once revered parties in a more disturbing light
12:59Time will only tell if this is truly the end of Diddy's career
13:02If Diddy is convicted though
13:03Numerous other big names could be dragged down with him
13:06The culture of silence was colossal
13:09You know, it really protected Sean for a number of years
13:12These people think that they're so powerful
13:15That he was never going to catch up with them
13:17Which celebrity would you be shocked to see make a comeback?
13:19Let us know in the comments
