00:00We can talk about the cold, but let's show you most of the snow has moved out of Western and
00:04Central Kansas. But, oh, there's Tony. It's sunny now. Are you so bundled up?
00:09Yeah, look at that. I mean, that is just an unbelievable shot. Not so much Tony,
00:15but behind the white and the blue. It's cleared on out, Tony.
00:22Yeah, it has. And, you know, I'm very insulted that you had to throw in that.
00:27Oh, not Tony. The stuff behind him. I don't see your face at all, Tony.
00:32Oh, there you are. OK, there we go. Peekaboo. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I was hoping you were going
00:38to continue with the old cold thing because I was going to mention, like,
00:42I was bundled up head to toe because if I wasn't, Ari would scold me.
00:47Oh, that's a good one. I'm sorry, Tony. You know, I would have scolded you too,
00:51though. But tell us how it feels out there. Well, swing and a miss.
00:54It's miserable. Let's just call it what it is, folks. Yeah, this is a little bit more scenic
01:00because, you know, we weren't at the top of the hour because I had some issues with the equipment.
01:04Shocker, right? You know, if your equipment's cold, you should bring it inside.
01:08You know, a lot of it's not made for this. Sometimes we have issues. So I'm a little bit
01:12more rural than the last time you saw me. But this kind of gives you an idea of western Kansas.
01:16Actually, kind of cool. You can kind of see what's left of the Kelvin Holtzman wave clouds,
01:21I guess you could call them there off in the background. Actually, didn't really. I think
01:24that's what they're called. I don't know. My brain's frozen here this morning, but
01:28I didn't even notice that before I pulled in. So that's kind of nifty. But it is certainly cold
01:32here. We're between Oakley and Wakini on I-70. That is the major interstate that's running here
01:38behind me. And we're sitting at AccuWeather real field temperatures currently right now at about
01:4326 below zero. So we are slowly climbing up. And I think the real feel actually will probably do
01:49that quicker now that we've got more sun than clouds. Still noticing, though, a little bit of
01:54the blowing snow and the real field temperature factors in the wind. And there's just enough of
01:58it in this powdery snow. So I am seeing little fine particles of snow still blowing around.
02:03But for the most part, we can really kind of take the snow out of the equation, I think,
02:07for us here. Yesterday, a whole different story. Certainly a messy day across central Kansas. We
02:13saw anywhere up to about nine inches reported in Great Bend. Travel was very, very difficult at
02:19times. Very, very limited visibility in a lot of areas when that snow was falling. And sometimes it
02:24was coming down heavy. We saw banded snow yesterday across portions of central Kansas,
02:29which really varied the accumulation totals. Some places picking up two, maybe three inches. And
02:35then you go up the road a little bit and suddenly we're talking six, seven, eight, even up to nine
02:39inches. Some double digit totals, especially as you got further southeast past the Wichita area.
02:44So areas dealing with a very fine powdery snow. Not a ton of moisture content with it,
02:49but certainly enough to make a mess of the roads. Today, it's going to be the cold that is going to
02:54remain the story for us as the snow has moved on out of here and left the sunshine in its wake.
03:01Looks like a Kansas, a mountain in Kansas behind you. Do you have any idea what that is over here?
03:06Is that your right shoulder? There's a little, what is that little, what is that? That is a
03:11construction. That's where they put the dirt for like CDOT and the construction crews. And then
03:15snow on top of it. That's what it is. All right. I thought there was, you know, we know where you
03:19are. Yeah, we're like, what is this little mountain in Kansas doing? We love it. A little
03:22weather 101 with Tony Laubach. Yeah, we appreciate it.
