AccuWeather's Tony Laubach was live from Castle Rock, Colorado, where snow was making travel tricky for drivers on Jan. 30.

00:00Snow is falling today across the Eastern Colorado Front Range.
00:05Yeah, so our Tony Laubach, AccuWeather meteorologist, joins us live from Casserole, Colorado
00:11with a look at what we can expect today. Tony, good morning.
00:17Good morning, Ari. Tony in the gloves, as you always like to remind me, the mother in you,
00:22to keep safe and warm out here. Fortunately, it's not overly cold.
00:27We don't have a lot of wind out here, so the AccuWeather real field temperature
00:30and the actual temperature are hovering right about 30 degrees.
00:34For most of you, that's pretty chilly. For me, it's almost summer-like.
00:37But here, I-25 behind me, see traffic a little slower than the last time you saw us here
00:42about an hour ago as we're just starting to get into sunrise here as the snow continues to come down.
00:47About a half an inch so far here in Castle Rock, although we are starting to pick up heavier amounts,
00:51especially as you get a little bit further south toward Colorado Springs and particularly out east.
00:56Along I-70 near Lyman, that's where some of the heaviest snow is coming down right now.
01:01But it has already caused some problems. We'll show you this video.
01:04This, just about an hour ago, right on I-25, about a mile north of where I'm situated here,
01:10just a little slide off here with two cars that collided with each other.
01:14Some of those slick conditions exist, especially as you get onto the on-ramps and off-ramps
01:19where you're starting to make those moves between lanes.
01:22That's where things are starting to get a little bit slick.
01:24I've noticed a lot of the side streets also pretty slick as well.
01:27I've seen a few cars that are having some issues with some of the turns,
01:30especially on some of the intersections here.
01:32We're in kind of some hilly terrain, though, so a lot of the intersections kind of have turns
01:36that dive down or up hills, and that makes it a little difficult for some drivers to get around.
01:40So it's going to be a slow go here this morning, especially south of Denver,
01:44particularly Colorado Springs, even down to Pueblo and Trinidad, further down I-25
01:49and southern Colorado, seeing some pretty good snow.
01:51So it's going to be a messy morning commute for a lot of the I-25 urban corridor
01:56here in northeast Colorado.
01:58As we go through the rest of the morning, I think really the biggest impacts are going to be out east.
02:03I think I-70 east of Denver between Denver and Lyman, that is going to be a huge trouble spot.
02:08One of the terrain features here we call the Palmer Divide,
02:11which is usually very instrumental in tornadic production out this way.
02:15It's going to be an issue with the snow because we see a lot of upslope in that area.
02:19Elevated terrain out as you get a little further east, and that is going to cause some issues out that way.
02:24So it wouldn't surprise me if we see some significant issues on I-70 east of Denver.
02:29For the metro area itself, if you're waking up with us, like again, south and east, you're going to do all right.
02:35We're going to be a lot of disappointed snow lovers today, I think, especially as you get further north.
02:40Areas from, say, Thornton, Westminster, up toward Fort Collins, Greeley, up in my neck of the woods,
02:46likely not to see much of any snow at all up that way, but could see some significant accumulations again
02:51along a band from Colorado Springs, Castle Rock, northeast into the eastern plains there.
02:58So that's going to be the issue for us here today.
03:00That snow is going to clear up pretty quickly, guys, and then believe it or not,
03:04we're going to be talking about 60s here in the next couple of days.
03:09Tony, I'm glad you have the gloves, but now it's like, where's your hat?
03:12You won't need it in the next couple of days.
03:14This is Tony Lovack in a snowy Castle Rock, Colorado, this morning.
