00:00The ESG Positive Impact Awards, ESGPIA, Winners' Showcase, kicked off with sponsor OCBC Bank
00:09Malaysia Berhad, spearheading the event with a talk on sustainable financing held at Manara
00:14Star on Wednesday.
00:16Attending the event was OCBC Bank's Commercial Banking Head, Kevin Chew, who said the event
00:22allowed ESGPIA winners to share their experiences and insights, providing valuable inspiration
00:29and learnings for current participants of the award.
00:31It's a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come together, share ideas, explore new
00:38possibilities in sustainability approaches.
00:41Well, transitioning to ESG excellence is rarely a straight path.
00:46There is bound to be challenges along the way.
00:49Embracing those ups and downs as learning opportunities is all part of the journey.
00:54What truly matters is the commitment to innovate and persevere, even when faced with obstacles.
01:02OCBC Malaysia's Sustainable Finance Vice President, Teo Shi Sheng, began the speaking
01:07session with an elaboration on the bank's sustainable financing, which he said has already
01:12been providing green financing to SMEs since five years ago.
01:18Next to pre-sent were the winner of the Most Outstanding ESG Initiatives of the Year award
01:23for the SME to Mid-Tier category, Iskandar Malaysia Studios, and gold winner in Talent
01:29Management category, AIA Burhad.
01:32Both talked about their experiences in setting up their ESG-related programs that have made
01:38them winners in the ESGPIA 2023.
01:42I'll be speaking about health and well-being, especially AIA's purpose of helping people
01:47live healthier, longer, better lives.
01:50And I'll be talking about how AIA has integrated health and well-being into our employee wellness
01:57programs.
01:58The way it can benefit employers is by improving productivity of employees and generally their
02:03financial well-being, their mental well-being, and of course their health and fitness levels
02:08as well.
02:09I'll be talking about the ESG journey of Iskandar Malaysia Studios, why we did what we did,
02:15and hopefully give some context on how we planned our ESG journey.
02:22And hopefully that would serve as inspiration for other companies beyond just the film and
02:28TV industry.
02:30Bursa Malaysia's Bursa Carbon Exchange Assistant Vice President Business Development and Sales
02:35Mohamad Rizal Azmi was also present to delve into the intricacies of carbon credits that
02:40can be traded on the Bursa Carbon Exchange.
02:43He said the globe will not be able to reach net zero by 2050, going with what is available
02:48at the moment.
02:49A lot of these technologies are not commercially viable yet nowadays.
02:54So the carbon markets actually provide an avenue, a market-based instrument to actually
02:59allow offsetting and to develop actually more carbon projects in the world, in Malaysia
03:05and the world, so that we can actually achieve our net zero goals together.
03:09The event also featured exhibitors which were previous ESG PIA winners.
03:15They showcased some of their sustainability efforts at the foyer of Cybertorium.
03:20The ESG PIA Winners Showcase was organized by Star Media Group in partnership with OCBC
03:27Bank Malaysia Berhad.
