00:00The government is working to strengthen Muslims' understanding about the challenges to their

00:05faith in light of concerns by certain parties about Christian proselytization movements

00:10in the country, says Religious Affairs Minister Naeem Mokhtar.

00:14In a written parliamentary reply, Naeem said the government took a serious view of any

00:19attempt to disrupt religious harmony in society, especially as Islam is the religion of the

00:24federation.

00:25Naeem also said the government was strengthening collaboration between religious institutions

00:29at the federal and state levels, as well as national security agencies, to monitor activities

00:35that could undermine the faith of Muslims.

00:38He was responding to a question from Pocosina MP Ahmad Sa'ad about the extent of the threat

00:43of Christianization in Malaysia.

00:45Naeem said the propagation of non-Islamic religions to Muslims was a sensitive issue

00:50that could threaten the country's peace, adding that action could be taken under the

00:54relevant state laws that control and restrict such matters.

00:58He said the government will continue to strengthen law enforcement and intensify Islamic missionary

01:03work and educational initiatives to ensure that Islam continues to thrive in Malaysia

01:08and that religious harmony in the country is preserved in line with the federal constitution.
