00:00The Department of Agriculture will continue to urge stakeholders to set a maximum suggested retail price for pork in the next month.
00:10This is Vel Custodio reporting.
00:14The Department of Agriculture is conducting a consultation with stakeholders
00:19on setting a maximum suggested retail price for pork in March.
00:23According to the DA, the retail price for pork should not reach Php 400.
00:28If your farm gate is Php 250,
00:30then the mentioned Php 100 plus profit margin,
00:36so Php 380 is reasonable.
00:38Aside from the establishment of MSRP,
00:40another thing the DA is studying is the possibility of adding an additional option
00:45where pork and chicken can be bought at a lower price.
00:49Similar to rice, where we introduce rice for all,
00:53we are also looking at the possibility
00:56that the DA can also intervene on the possibility of pork.
01:04Meanwhile, many retailers are following the new maximum suggested retail price
01:09for 5% broken imported rice,
01:12after the Department of Agriculture lowered the price of imported rice to Php 52,
01:17from the previous Php 55 per kilo.
01:20According to the DA,
01:21even though there are some that are not yet lowering the MSRP to Php 52,
01:25these are the rice that the old stocks of rice are letting run out.
01:29The agency is targeting to lower the MSRP to Php 49 in March.
01:34The DA also issued the first 150 metric tons of NFA rice
01:39to the local government units that are signifying this week,
01:42following the declaration of the National Food Security Emergency on rice.
