00:00Two women were prevented from going on vacation in Thailand.
00:05The Bureau of Immigration said that the two women were possibly involved in being scammers in other countries.
00:11Jonathan Andal is a witness.
00:13The Bureau of Immigration
00:17A colleague of the call center company introduced himself and he was on vacation leave to travel to Thailand.
00:24But when he asked, the answer of the two women who were in front of the Immigration Officer in Nhaia did not match.
00:31When they were asked about the basic details about each other and their trip, their answer was a bit vague.
00:39The truth is that their vacation in Thailand was not really a vacation, but a connecting flight to Laos.
00:46They were only accompanied by a recruiter and a pecking document was issued.
00:51They were promised a salary of P50,000 per month as a customer service representative.
00:57The fixer they met online was paid P3,000 to make the documents.
01:02The two women turned over to the Interagency Council Against Trafficking.
01:06The Immigration said that it is possible for the two women to come to Laos as scammers,
01:11just like what happened to other Filipinos who were rescued there.
01:14They target call center agents or those who have experience in call centers because that is their job there.
01:24Seemingly like a BPO, but it's actually a scam hub, scam operations.
01:30If they do not achieve the quota, they are physically tortured, they are not allowed to eat and they are not paid properly.
01:39This August, more than 70 Filipinos were arrested in almost 800 cyber scam networks
01:47on the border of Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.
01:50That is different from the case of other Filipinos who were rescued from illegal recruitment in 2024,
01:55just like the two Filipinos who were prevented last March.
01:58For example, Telco employees who are on vacation in Thailand, but the truth is that when they arrive in Bangkok, they will be taken to Laos.
02:05There, they were also promised a job as a call center agent in a company involved in a crypto investment scam.
02:12The salary is also more than Php 50,000 if it is regular.
02:16The salary of a Filipino who was hired to be a customer service representative but became an online love scammer in Laos is almost the same.
02:25But in the end, he did not receive a salary. He was repatriated in May 2024.
02:30Immigration reminds those who want to work abroad to go through the process with the Department of Migrant Workers
02:35and do not just believe the rumors on social media.
02:39It really looks like a big syndicate is involved in this.
02:42For GMA Integrated News, I am Jonathan Andal, your witness.
02:47There is an increase in the price of oil tomorrow.
02:50The price of diesel and gasoline is 87 cents per liter.
02:54It is 10 cents per liter of kerosene.
02:57The DOE Oil Industry Management Bureau said earlier that the increase in the price of oil
03:02is a result of rising tensions in the Middle East and the issuance of sanctions in America, Iran, and Russia.
03:11A man who is just doing his job was caught red-handed.
03:15He was brought back to life after being stabbed in the neck by a suspect in the theft of an e-bike in Manila.
03:21Witness, Marisol Abdurrahman.
03:28He is very sad because...
03:32That is the pain that the descendants of Feton Biazon feel after he was stabbed in the neck by a suspect.
03:40His wife, Biazon Sanacawan, responded to the Barangay 281 in Binondo, Manila yesterday early in the morning.
03:46The people who were called to the two-way radio saw that someone was pushing an e-bike.
03:55Usually, when someone pushes an e-bike, it is our suspect who steals it.
03:59When our people called, they caught him.
04:04Feton and his accomplices caught the suspect until he was cornered.
04:08But...
04:09There was a commotion and that's when the suspect said that he was stabbed in the neck.
04:21The victim was rushed to the hospital but he died instantly.
04:25We cannot accept what happened because that person is a very kind person.
04:31His parents, all of us, we are his siblings.
04:33He helps us.
04:34He gives us all of his salary.
04:38He died in such a brutal incident.
04:42The suspect ran away immediately after the victim was stabbed in the neck.
04:46But he was also caught in a place not far from the crime scene
04:50after the police backtracked him.
04:53Through CCTV, we found out his whereabouts.
04:56The murder weapon used by the suspect was recovered.
05:00The suspect defended himself.
05:02I was scared.
05:04I didn't plan to fight.
05:07I just wanted to protect myself.
05:09The second time I was scared, he approached me.
05:12I didn't expect him to follow me.
05:16I was scared.
05:18What were you scared of?
05:20A screwdriver.
05:22The suspect asked for an apology.
05:24He was ready to settle the matter with the victims' relatives.
05:26We will fight.
05:28We will not allow what happened to my brother to happen again.
05:32The suspect will file a complaint of murder.
05:34He is now in jail in the Manila Police District.
05:38For GMA Integrated News, I am Marisol Abdurrahman, your witness.
05:44The Department of Migrant Workers plans to expand the OFW Hospital.
05:50They plan to build branches in different parts of the Philippines
05:54to provide more services to OFWs and their families.
05:58According to the DMW, more than 80,000 patients
06:02were served by the hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga in 2024.
06:08They also plan to add 50 hospital beds
06:14and have a dialysis treatment facility.
06:2017 luxury vehicles and an expensive motorcycle
06:24were discovered by Bureau of Customs in a showroom in Makati.
06:28The dealership did not show any documents
06:30that they were paid a fee for entering the vehicles.
06:34The vehicles are worth more than P300 million.
06:38They should be paid P100 million.
06:40The vehicles also have a license plate
06:42which is why the BOC works with the LTO
06:44to find out how it was registered.
06:48The establishment has 15 days to prove that the vehicles are not fake
06:54because if not, the Customs will punish them.
06:58Customs is also investigating if it has anything to do with POGO.
07:02According to the admin staff of the dealership,
07:04they do not have any customers because they are on vacation.
07:07But they are not directly importing the vehicles
07:10and have already called their customers
07:13to give them all the documents they need.
07:17Pork for All Program was studied by the Department of Agriculture
07:21because of the high price of pork.
07:24The DA directly buys the supply from importers and traders
07:28to sell at a cheaper price.
07:31But in Kadiwa Outlets,
07:33it is only sold in the surrounding provinces.
07:36Based on the monitoring of the DA,
07:38the price ranges from P350 to P480 per kilo of pork
07:43depending on the type.
07:45According to the Agri-Group of Sinag,
07:47the effect of African Swine Fever is still felt
07:50but the supply of pork is still sufficient.
07:53So there is no reason for the price to go up to P400.
07:57The DA will check if there are any symptoms.
08:01Pope Francis, who has bronchitis for more than a week,
08:05is recovering in the hospital.
08:07According to the Vatican,
08:08he is in good health.
08:10He will remain in the hospital as long as necessary
08:14because he was assigned by the doctors to rest.
08:17In an ex-post, Pope Francis thanked those who loved him
08:22and prayed for him.
08:24For GMA Integrated News, I am Ian Cruz.
08:27Your sexy!
08:29Flooding in some areas of Botas
08:32caused a 20-minute downpour there earlier this afternoon.
08:36It also flooded in the area of Di Tuason,
08:38corner of Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.
08:41And even though there is no new low-pressure area or storm,
08:44there are other weather systems that can cause rain.
08:47Along with the cold winds and hot Easter Leaves,
08:52when it rains, a shear line forms.
08:56It also affects the country,
08:58the Intertropical Convergence Zone or ITCZ.
09:01According to the Rainfall Forecast of Metro Weather,
09:03there is a high chance of rain
09:05in a large part of Northern and Central Luzon,
09:07as well as in some areas in Southern Luzon,
09:09along with Quezon and Mimaropa.
09:12There is a strong rain that can flood or cause landslides.
09:16Thunderstorms in Metro Manila are also possible tomorrow,
09:20especially in the afternoon.
09:22In Visayas and Mindanao,
09:24there is also a chance of heavy rain
09:26along with Sulu Archipelago,
09:28Caragas, Davao Region, and Sok Sarje.
09:33An expert has a reminder about different home remedies
09:36that are used for patients with dengue.
09:39Witness, Katrina Son.
09:45A few years ago,
09:46Grace Tigao and her two children
09:48had dengue.
09:50When they were diagnosed with the disease,
09:52they were immediately taken to the hospital.
09:55Her brother died first,
09:57then her brother and his cousins followed.
10:01When she tested positive for dengue,
10:03she was admitted to the hospital by the children,
10:05especially when her daughter's nose was bleeding.
10:08Even when she was in the hospital,
10:10they were asking her children
10:12to drink carrot juice and tawa-tawa.
10:15Tawa-tawa is for the elderly.
10:17Tawa-tawa is number one until now.
10:20It's herbal.
10:22For the elderly, it's the best.
10:25According to her daughter, Joanne,
10:27aside from tawa-tawa and carrot juice,
10:30she was also fed with boiled eggs several times.
10:33At night, I only had dengue attacks
10:37because my head hurts.
10:41Drinking boiled eggs
10:44and tawa-tawa
10:46or papaya leaves
10:48while eating boiled eggs
10:50are just some of the beliefs of some Filipinos
10:52that can help cure dengue.
10:55But according to an adult infectious disease specialist,
10:59Let's start with boiled eggs.
11:01It has no side effects
11:03that can help increase platelet count.
11:06Second is herbals, tawa-tawa.
11:09We also don't have substantial data
11:11that will help us increase platelet count.
11:15Our advice here, Katrina,
11:18is that we shouldn't use
11:21new and solid evidence.
11:27What is needed for dengue is hydration,
11:30rest, and monitor the patient's condition.
11:34Avoid eating colorful or dark-colored foods
11:38to monitor if there is inflammation in the body.
11:42Also, don't drink ibuprofen
11:44because it can be harmful.
11:46Also, remember the symptoms of dengue.
11:49First, you will experience fever,
11:51body aches,
11:53headache.
11:54After three days,
11:55you will experience a drop in platelet count
11:58and some of you may experience a nose inflammation.
12:02After five to seven days,
12:04the fever will go down
12:06but the platelet count will go down even more.
12:09This is called a critical phase.
12:12If you can't recover from this,
12:14you may experience severe dengue.
12:16My advice to patients is
12:18to look at the first three days of symptoms
12:21because the most common symptom is fever.
12:24The so-called frontal rashes
12:26might not be present during the first three days.
12:29It's important that early diagnosis
12:33and we will anticipate the possibility
12:36that they will be admitted or sent home.
12:39According to Dr. Solante,
12:40on the first day of the disease,
12:42the patient should be given a dengue test.
12:45If there are negative but dengue-like symptoms,
12:48the patient can be returned to the dengue test in three days.
12:52The platelet count should be taken every day
12:55to monitor the condition of the patient.
12:58It is also important not to be impatient
13:00and to see the doctor immediately.
13:02For GMA Integrated News,
13:04I am Katrina Son,
13:06your witness.
