00:00Hi guys, it's past 3 p.m. here and we're having our breakfast or lunch.
00:06And why am I telling you this?
00:08Join us on our journey towards intermittent fasting and low-carb regimen.
00:17Our last meal was about 10 p.m. last night.
00:20I just had a salad.
00:21We just had a salad.
00:22How is it?
00:23Spicy.
00:24Do you like it?
00:25Not bad, right?
00:26I like it plain, but if it's spicy, I don't.
00:40So my wife and I had been on this low-carb intermittent fasting, we call it LCIF journey
00:46in the last few months.
00:49So since then, I've lost at least 10 kg, 10 to 12.
00:52I've kept the scales at between 75 to 76 for most of my adult life.
01:00According to my BMI or body mass index, my healthy weight should range from 62 to 67.
01:08If you'll remember, BMI, it's a mathematical formula to measure your body fat.
01:13It's your weight in kilograms divided by your height in meters squared.
01:19And the first month of LCIF regimen, it involves three times a day, thrice daily, monitoring
01:27of blood sugar after each low-carb meal.
01:31So that involves daily hand pricking and random blood sugar testing, which is then followed
01:36by blood pressure tests.
01:38This is all done at home, of course.
01:41You have to write down the numbers in a monitoring sheet.
01:46So basically we started with abnormal or higher than the desired level of blood pressure and
01:54blood sugar level.
01:56And by day 30, it's gone back to normal or almost normal.
02:04The point is to stick to it and never give up.
02:09Now, it's been said that if you do something straight for 21 days, it becomes a habit.
02:15And I think that's the point of this exercise.
02:19So this is our low-carb stand at home.
02:24Nothing really fancy, just psyllium husk, almond flour, and some low GI rice, low glycemic
02:33index rice, which we occasionally eat.
02:36Still occasionally eat when we miss eating rice.
02:40Some erythritol, a sugar replacement.
02:42I also went up to a local pharmacy because we ran out of strips, and I had my blood sugar
02:47tested, paid 30 pesos.
02:50And the level, the number that came out is 113, 113 milligrams per deciliter.
02:57A blood sugar test, random, is the measure of your blood sugar at the time you're testing.
03:04You don't need to fast.
03:06And according to the CDC, a blood sugar level of 200 grams or milligrams per deciliter,
03:14mg per dl, or higher indicates that you are, that you have diabetes.
03:21I'm quite happy with this result, this number.
