00:15It was a shock at various levels because I didn't think the body of work I did qualified me to be a part of his films and to be an actor in his cinema.
00:30Tell me what should I know about it? Let's start with the basics, why should I watch your movie?
00:36Chhalaan is a film that we kind of thought and conceived of from a purely, very simple point of view of the fact that
00:45it's not a film for kids, we have very few films that kids can watch but this is a film that crosses over like a large demographic.
00:53The adults can also sit with the kids and watch it because it's equally their story and equally a children's story as well.
01:00There's a nice romantic angle, there's a great sort of friendship going on between Raj and his father and his friends
01:07then comes Zeeshan which becomes antagonist so you have like a nice competition and fighting spirit going on
01:13where now suddenly you're rooting from team A to team B, who do you want, which one do you want to win?
01:19They're prepping for it and then of course there's a big competition and there's the full masala drama happening.
01:25Nushrat, you have to tell me like in this era where series such as very violent, very graphic series are doing the rounds,
01:31people are loving it, they love the reality, how relevant would this film be like children's movie,
01:36would a family friendly movie still have its charm?
01:41Of course, I think a family friendly movie will never lose its charm because you will always have children and you'll
01:46always have a conflict between okay this film they can watch and we can't and this film kids need to be put to bed in
01:52and then we'll watch it in the night later or my for example my grandmother, there was a film where my grandmother said I don't want to watch this
01:58and suddenly from a family movie night I would be like okay I'm just going to watch it alone now, what can I do my grandma doesn't want to watch it
02:04but a light-hearted comedy film like this which kids always brighten up a person's life, kids always bring joy to you
02:12so to have kids in a film, it's not a children's film in terms of only children can watch it, it's not like a PG version film
02:21you know what I mean, what I mean to say is that it's got that liveliness of children, their joy, it's a teaching given to teachers, to parents and children
02:31and it's done with such a nice light-hearted humour that you feel like what an amazing world to be a part of and what an amazing story to kind of watch and have
02:41may I ask was there an audition for it, did you ask
02:45oh no, no, no none of that, I knew the film was being made, I didn't know Hansal sir was directing, I knew of course Lapsa was producing it
02:52so I knew that this was the next film he was doing and I just happened to ask him because we've done 4 films together
02:58so I said sir what are you doing and he said I'm doing a sports film, Raj is in it, I'm like oh great, is there something I can do in it
03:04tell me if you think I fit in, tell me if a director would like me and I'm very excited, I'm like who should I talk to, who should I meet
03:10who should I do all these things with and he's like we've not figured out who's going to direct it and help me yet, we're just in conversation
03:17I said great and then I'm like if it happens they'll call me and then I do get a call one day and I get a call from Lapsa saying that
03:24hi Hansal sir wants to cast you in the film and I'm like Hansal sir is directing it, so he said yeah, I'm like he wants to cast me
03:32are you sure you got the actor right, like did he really say Nushrat Bharucha, are you sure, like he knows my name
03:37it was a shock at various levels because I didn't think the body of work I did qualified me to be a part of his films and to be an actor in his cinema
03:49I thought I had a long way to go, I had a lot to prove, a lot to show for finally for him to think that it was something that he wanted to collaborate with me on
03:59but he just happened to say, he happened to say I think she's a great actor and she'd be brilliant as Nalima
04:05what keeps the faith alive I think is the fact that there is a bad patch in everybody's life, there is a downer in everybody's life
04:15but what goes down has to come back around and come up that's just life, I mean you cannot have a night all the while
04:22sunlight will come, the day will rise, so I feel like just the faith that tomorrow will be a bigger, brighter and a different day
04:31if not a happier day, it will be a different day and we'll come through this and I think that's the faith I've been able to keep alive through this pandemic
04:38so did it make you realize, was it the biggest leveller in your life
04:44the biggest leveller in my life is that the ground under your feet can be pulled at any moment, absolutely any moment
04:51you cannot be prepared for it, you cannot have a back up plan for it, you don't know what's going to happen tomorrow
04:59and that daunting feeling of not knowing what tomorrow has in store for you, just actually relaxed me
05:08that if we don't know and we can't control it, what is the point of me stressing about it
05:12I have right now, hi I'm just going to put on a nice show and a nice movie, make a nice cup of coffee, chill, chat with people around, watch a film
05:20and we'll see what tomorrow does, what's the point of stressing about it now, can't do shit about it
05:25so that, I think just that thing of letting it go and saying, hands up, I'm having fun
05:31oh good, good, we'll also promise to have fun, Nushrat I really hope you stay safe during COVID-19
05:37and we enjoy your movie, that's the most important, I really hope Amazon Prime, Telangana does a good job
