Katla Fish – 4-5 pieces (cleaned and washed)

Potatoes – 2 medium (cut into wedges)

Onion – 1 large (sliced)

Tomatoes – 1 (chopped)

Green Chilies – 3-4 (slit)

Turmeric Powder – 1 tsp

Red Chili Powder – 1 tsp

Cumin Powder – 1 tsp

Coriander Powder – 1 tsp

Salt – As per taste

Mustard Oil – 3 tbsp

Water – 1.5 cups

Step-by-Step Cooking Process:

Step 1: Marinating the Fish

1. Rub the Katla fish pieces with turmeric and salt and let them sit for 10-15 minutes.


2. Heat 2 tbsp mustard oil in a pan and fry the fish until golden brown. Remove and set aside.



Step 2: Frying the Potatoes

1. In the same oil, add potato wedges and fry until lightly golden.


2. Remove and set aside.



Step 3: Preparing the Masala Base

1. Heat 1 tbsp mustard oil in the pan.


2. Add sliced onions and sauté until light brown.


3. Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt.


4. Cook until the oil separates from the masala.



Step 4: Cooking the Curry

1. Add the fried potatoes and stir well.


2. Pour in 1.5 cups of water and let it boil.


3. Once the potatoes are almost soft, add the fried fish pieces and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes.

1. Turn off the heat and let the curry rest for a few minutes.
