00:00Jubail Mangrove Park, a newly opened facility in the capital that offers a walk through
00:05the mangroves, is set to attract more than 20,000 visitors on the second weekend after
00:10its opening.
00:11Located on the northern tip of Abu Dhabi's Jubail Island, the 120,000 square meter park
00:17allows visitors to immerse themselves in nature while taking a look at the birds, fish and
00:22other wildlife in the vicinity.
00:25The park currently has a boardwalk with three walking routes ranging from 1 km to 2 km.
00:31A casual stroll takes about an hour or longer if visitors pause to take in the environment.
00:37There are also six nodes through the walkway that provide more information about various
00:41elements including mangroves themselves and the wildlife that makes them their home.
00:46Some of the zones, which include newly planted mangroves, are visible from the boardwalk
00:51marked out in orange cordoning.
00:53Richard Russell, chief operations officer at the Jubail Island Investment Company, said
00:58there are plans to construct even more parks across the island.
01:01The whole of Jubail Island is a sort of a magical place.
01:06It's a very unique environment and our aim is to preserve this environment.
01:10Actually, the more time that you spend on this island, the more enamored you become
01:15with it.
01:16It's actually very unique, very pristine, and our idea here is to educate the public
01:22about its unique beauties and we want to preserve and enhance those beauties, not only
01:27with what we're doing here, but what we're doing on the entire Jubail Island development.
01:31Jubail Island is home to various bird species, fish, although most visible fish are small
01:37and may be hard to distinguish between species, a total of 13 different crab species including
01:42sand crab, mottled crab, and blue swimmer crabs.
01:46Entry to the park is currently free for all, but the facility is only open between 8am
01:50and 6.30pm every day.
01:52Park attendants also advised a visit during periods of high tide so that fish and other
01:57aquatic animals are visible.
