00:00So could you introduce yourself and tell me your position at the Beach House?
00:06I'm Cheryl Trevelyan and of course I'm one of the owners alongside my husband Hagar.
00:12So could you tell me a little bit about, last time we spoke we talked about you refurbishing it every year,
00:20just to keep the Beach House fresh and as one of the top venues in Blackpool.
00:26Can you tell me a little bit about why the Beach House was refurbished?
00:31Probably because we're mad and we've got this passion to always offer what we think is going to be the best for our customer.
00:40It's really important to constantly reinvest in your business, keep things fresh and to keep things in line with what we feel the customer would like to see when they come here.
00:54Keep them happy, keep them coming, keep Blackpool on the up and up.
01:00So can you tell me a little bit about what the Beach House offers to customers as a whole?
01:07We're a venue that's open seven days a week, we open obviously for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.
01:14We offer beautiful wine, homemade cocktails, amazing food all prepared from scratch from 12 o'clock until 9.30 every single day.
01:26So it's a constant flow of energies, creativity, always trying to think outside the box,
01:35think about things that are different, unique and of course keeping the quality at the best we possibly can.
01:45So can you tell me, what was the inspiration for the refurbishment?
01:53I just think that what it is with us here at Beach House, apart from looking at what we feel our customer would want and need,
02:03we like to keep, we see new ideas, we have different visions and we just like to try different things as well as always maintaining the quality of the product.
02:15Because we're open every day, we're busy every day, things take, become tired, we don't ever want Beach House to look tired.
02:25We want it always to be fresh, always for it to be inspirational, for people to keep coming and keep seeing our vision,
02:33which our vision is to keep Blackpool and Beach House at the forefront of the hospitality industry.
02:43When will the members of the public be able to come in and see the new renovations?
02:51They can come now. We've opened it softly today because we've been finishing things off, getting things ready,
02:59there's always something else to think of, there's always something goes wrong, there's always something that you forget.
03:05So yeah, we're up and ready, we're open now.
03:09So can you tell me what some of the biggest changes are? Because I remember this was a lot of tables in the high stalls,
03:17now it's a more raised area.
03:19We've kept this as a raised area and we've also decided to make it low-level seating so it's more comfortable for people to dine,
03:29to have food, because a lot of people come on spec, they just think, oh we'll just bob in for a coffee, or we'll bob in for a light bite or something.
03:39And we didn't feel that they were as comfortable in the high area, whilst we still want to maintain that people can come in just for a drink,
03:49it's absolutely fine, they can still bring their dogs in here, it's absolutely fine, but we just wanted to make a more comfortable environment for them.
03:59How long has it taken to do the renovations?
04:05Well, not only are we very lucky here, but we make sure we outreach to Blackpool and the Tylde area.
04:15All our local businesses have been used here, there's nobody from anywhere else but Blackpool.
04:23We've used South Shore Metal to do all our metal work, an amazing joiner company led by a guy called Grant.
04:34We use Lawson Home Signs, we use local Keds and Stuart at the Classic Upholstery, we use Peter Jones Carpets for all our flooring.
04:45So everybody that's been involved in the refurb has worked together so well.
04:51It's taken them about three weeks from literally ripping everything out to bringing everything in.
04:59And we've also been extremely lucky this year that my son's girlfriend has done all the drawings, Alicia Rose, she's done all the architectural drawings and she shares our vision, which is amazing.
05:15What's this?
05:20These have been here, these were here originally, these have all been made by South Shore Metal, a bit like a jigsaw piece, they all come in pieces and all put together.
05:31Those designs were done a couple of years ago by Joe Boniface, who is also a local architect.
05:38So it's really, really important for us to keep things local.
05:43Do you have a particular favourite part?
05:46Favourite part? All of it, I love it all.
05:49I find inspiration in seeing nice quality products.
05:55We try to make sure that whatever we use is the best quality and just adding textures into the venue.
06:03We've got the lovely bamboo here, which creates that nice beachy vibe.
06:10We've still got to keep the beachy vibe, but also making sure that every single thing we use is the best quality that we can get.
06:18So you've gone through the refurbishment, are there any other future plans for 2025 for the Beach House?
06:28I just think that we want to get open to the public now properly.
06:33We want the public to enjoy this and to share our vision and our passion for what we do here at Beach House.
06:39Because I just think if anything's worth doing, let's do it well.
06:43Let's do your best. Do your best to be amazing.
06:49Always strive to be better than what you are today.
06:54Always be inspirational. Always be innovative.
06:59And we again are lucky here at Beach House, we've got a fantastic team.
07:03A really dedicated team from professionals, from managers, from bar staff to mixologists.
07:11Fantastic kitchen team.
07:13And even the youngsters that work here, they have pride in what they do and that's so important to us.
