00:00So hi, my name's David, I'm the manager here at our brand new bar in Blackpool, Tommy Cooper's
00:27Blackpool, as you can see we're just finishing up little bits now, we're due to open tomorrow
00:32night, so we're going to have a soft opening tonight just for a few little friends and
00:37family just to make sure everything's working, and then tomorrow night we're going to have
00:40our VOV night from 7 till 9, and then at 9 o'clock the doors will open to everybody.
00:45So first of all, sorry about the scruffy attire, we're all in and working very hard and fast
00:50to get things going.
00:51So you can see the signs all going up now, they're just finishing up with the signs now.
00:59And then we're going to go through the front door, so I think you'll find there's been
01:03some big changes since last time we was here.
01:08So we've come to the main entrance, it's going to be the main entrance.
01:11So into the main room, so as you can see on your left there we have the booths, I really
01:19like these lights, when it's dark outside it really illuminates the area really nicely.
01:26We're still working on a big sign for the brick wall, it was going to be a south wall
01:31at first, but we think we can just put a nice big sign up there now.
01:35So although we're going to open tomorrow, there's still going to be 101 things to fix
01:40and remedy, so we're going to be working as we're going.
01:43We're keen to get the doors open, we're at a point where we can open the doors and everything's
01:46ready, so everything, this room is actually back to brick from its original state, so
01:54everything you see has been built and installed by our workers and ourselves and we're very
02:02super grateful and proud of everybody that's put in some mega hard work.
02:07Particularly the bar centrepiece, if you want to come this way a little bit.
02:12So the bar as you can see, all the stainless steel trim, we've got this sort of crossbar
02:20form situation which I think is very, very cool.
02:23And in the middle there, that's all been handcrafted by Joey Legas, who's got a really
02:28really hard time with these, he's actually just finishing up now, he's one of the last
02:31ones to finish.
02:32He's been here since pretty much the start and everything's still a little bit of woodwork
02:36and joinery.
02:38So he actually built that by hand, which is pretty amazing, it looks great.
02:42If you sit around you can see the bar, we're at the back of the bar area over here.
02:46We've been keeping all our optics, all the shelves have been LED lit.
02:52You can see we've got a bottle of fridges over there, which have all been lit and turned
02:56on.
02:57We've got a big selection of tequilas and sambucas and that sort of business.
03:01We'll be serving our cocktails as well, so I think there's seven on the menu at the moment.
03:05They're all made fresh with fresh produce.
03:07And we have our sort of Jager bombs and things like that as well, our bomb selection.
03:12We'll be introducing different cocktails throughout our specials and things like that.
03:17Do you have a favourite cocktail?
03:19I'm not really a cocktail guy, but I do like the Pornstar Martini, which we're serving,
03:25which is very good.
03:26It seems to be a favourite of everybody's at the moment.
03:29So this screen here is going to get cleaned up and we'll have all our sorts of advertising
03:32for upcoming events.
03:33Speaking of events, if you want to book the venue, you can for anything for Christmas
03:36party nights or for birthdays or whatever, but it is a strictly over-18s venue.
03:41But if you are interested in using us for an event, then please get in touch.
03:45Is there any particular reason you decided to go with the purely over-18s?
03:50Yeah, we're next door.
03:51So the owners have the New Philly as well, which is a big venue next door, which is a
03:56family venue.
03:57It's the biggest family venue in Blackpool with the latest licence for children.
04:01So we already have that angle of things.
04:03So we're very keen to, I think the owner wanted to, we said this before, wanted sort of an
04:07expensive experience.
04:08This is Gaz, our joiner.
04:09There he is.

04:15Yeah, so we were keen to do, the owner wanted to set up a venue whereby, as we said before,
04:21you get that sort of expensive experience at affordable prices.
04:26And wanted to do something more for the adults.
04:28And like I mentioned a couple of times, we're very keen to invest into Blackpool as a town.
04:32We're hoping that this might inspire other people to do the same.
04:34There's been a lot of money spent on this project.
04:37So yeah, we're very excited about it and it's just something different.
04:40So it'll be the family venue being next door and obviously this being a purely over-18s.
04:44We have a sports bar upstairs for everybody that's into sports and another events room.
04:48So we're just trying to cater for every sort of demographic in the area really.
04:52That's the idea behind it.
04:54And there we are.
04:55And we're back.
04:57Yeah, I'm just going to set you upstairs.
04:59So last time this was full of sort of all sorts of tools and things.
05:02But I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with what's happened.
05:05They're all cast and trimmed.
05:07All the banisters have gone in and spindles and everything.
05:11All the toppings have gone on ourselves.
05:14Yeah, very proud of it.
05:15Everyone seems to like it.
05:16So follow me up.
05:19If you remember the magnificent views, they've not changed.
05:21The views of Blackpool and all the magnificence is still there, thriving.
05:25But the actual space itself is pretty stunning to be fair.
05:33So we come up into the...
05:36We've sort of nicknamed it the Snug at the moment.
05:38Although we're not sure if that's going to be what we're going to stick with.
05:41So this is an area where we can come and relax.
05:45All the water, as you can see, are down there.
05:47We've got to finish off that lighting feature.
05:50We've got our posing tables, they're called, in the windows.
05:53We're going to come this way.
05:55So it goes through into the sports bar there.
05:57Because we are developing further, but we're going to sort of come back to them, if you like.
06:03And let you know what we're planning.
06:04So you come through this way.
06:07So eventually there'll be a Juliet balcony here, which we're still waiting on.
06:11But we still get a go.
06:14It's magnificent.
06:15Yeah, it's lovely.

06:25So yeah, we're very proud, very excited.
06:27It's been a long time coming.
06:28And I think the overall sense is that it is an achievement.
06:31And sort of, I don't know, excitement mixed with nerves.
06:35But we're all keen to get open and come down and see us.
