00:00Trying to stay healthy can be a challenge as there is processed sugar in most of the
00:09food that we consume. We've come to meet one Emirati entrepreneur who started a healthy,
00:14processed sugar-free and dairy-free juice shop in Abu Dhabi.
00:19Being in college, me and my cousin had a business plan for a juice shack, exploring the different
00:23opportunities and risks and to see how can we grow basically. Opportunities came back
00:29to back and then eventually we found this store and we thought it was perfect to open.
00:33We looked around and we saw it was a niche market that could have been tackled and what
00:37better way to do it than to serve healthy juice.
00:40Juices were served in cafeterias, canteens, where they have that push mentality. So you
00:45have a lot of the businesses would be, I'll make any drink for you and they would add
00:49a ton of sugar in it until eventually it tasted sweet enough for you to say okay. But here
00:55we want to raise the awareness that having sugar in juices is not the right choice. So
00:59what differentiates our juices from others is that it actually involves almond milk which
01:05gets rid of the lactose. And at the same time we pick fresh fruits ourselves and we include
01:10them in our juices.
01:13I come from a long line of family members that are lactose intolerant. So almond milk
01:19is a very good alternative. Most of our customers are frequent customers. A lot of them do come
01:23back and it served our purpose at the end to raise conscience of healthy choices.
01:28We hope to grow in the sense that we become part of the community. A choice for people
01:33that live in Abu Dhabi. When it comes to nutrient drinks, so stuff that are good for them as
01:39opposed to consuming different, very, very much available products that are not good
01:44for their health.
01:44Opportunities come and go while you're growing with the business. You have a lot of additions
01:49and changes that you would add to the business as well. So these are the stuff you need to
01:54take into consideration and you don't really need to stall and think of a perfect business
01:57plan. You can just go ahead and start and from that you can grow with it.
02:01Tariq is a great example of how a simple idea can be turned into a business that contributes
02:06to the welfare of the community. Sarvika Ampaya, Golf News.
