00:00We've come to Abu Dhabi to meet an Emirati entrepreneur whose five-year-old daughter
00:10inspires her to open a gluten-free bakery and give back to the community.
00:14Before I got married, I didn't have any clue what gluten-free is. But when I got pregnant
00:22and I had my first child, Maryam, when she was six months, I felt that there is something
00:31wrong with Maryam because her skin does not look normal from the first bite when I feed
00:40her with Cerelac. I felt that we need to do something because I will support Maryam by
00:49not eating, not participating in any, you know, food gathering because of her allergy
00:55and because people, they don't understand what's a gluten allergy.
01:02I called Ghada Al-Khalaf. She's the owner of a bakery in Kuwait. And I told her that
01:11my name is Mouza and I would like to open a bakery in UAE. And she asked me the first
01:20question, Mouza, are you allergic? I said no. And then she said, well, I said, but my
01:28daughter, she is. She said, okay, now we can talk. And this is how we started the business.
01:37Maryam, she inspired us. Most of our recipes, and this is what makes us different, that
01:43our recipes is very moist. It's not too dry. As people, they know of the gluten-free items,
01:55it's not too dry. It's very moist and delicious. Most of the customers who comes to us, they
02:02have allergy or they are celiac. The other percentage, which I consider them as 20 to
02:1025 percent, they are health conscious.
02:13Really, I'm a big time coffee lover. And in all of Abu Dhabi, there's some seriously good
02:18coffee that's served here. But also my wife is always trying to get me to be healthy,
02:23right? You can tell. And because it's gluten-free.
02:26Oh, I love it. It's very cozy, very comfortable. You can come, you can sit, have coffee. The
02:32staff is very friendly, very accommodating. Everyone's very nice. So, I love it.
02:36My ambition is to be available for everybody. For everybody who needs us. I wish to be available.
02:44Moza's Bakery doesn't just cater to the gluten-free community. It's also a comfortable place
02:50where people come to hang out and meet friends. I'm Sarvika Rampaya, Gulf News.
