00:00White Tangi Day is known as New Zealand's most important day.
00:05And recently, it was celebrated as New Zealand's most important day here in the Philippines.
00:11To find out what happened during this celebration, let's watch this video.
00:17It can be found in the South Pacific Ocean and is known as Manuka Honey.
00:22Ship and wine, that is New Zealand.
00:25They are called New Zealanders or Kiwi,
00:29who have a tendency to be positive and give importance to family and relationships.
00:35And every 6th of February, White Tangi Day is commemorated.
00:39White Tangi Day is a commemoration of the founding of the British Crown
00:45and more than 500 Maori chiefs who were deported to the island of White Tangi in 1840.
00:52Through this, the Maori, New Zealand Indigenous People and the British Crown
00:59that was established by the New Zealand government were freed.
01:02And here in the Philippines,
01:04the commemoration was postponed for a short time for the leadership of the New Zealand Embassy here in the country,
01:10where it was led by some diplomats and leaders of the country.
01:14The National Defence Secretary, Gibo Teodoro, also led the gathering,
01:19which was announced by GALAX at the start of the first round negotiation of the SOFPA.
01:50Ambassador Catherine McIntosh also gave a message
01:54about the Philippine and China territorial dispute in the West Philippine Sea.
01:59We are deeply concerned by the current developments in the West Philippine Sea.
02:09And New Zealand has been consistent in our messages around de-escalation of tensions.
02:20Furthermore, we encourage all countries that are in dispute to resolve matters peacefully
02:39in accordance with international law, including UNCLOS.
02:42New Zealand is one of the countries that will lead tomorrow's bilateral negotiations in the Philippines.
02:49And this year is the 59th anniversary of the bilateral relations between the two countries.
