00:11More than 40,000 buildings in Dubai have been connected to a new life safety dashboard launched
00:16by Dubai Civil Defence.
00:18The agency aims to cover 70,000 buildings in the emirate within the next three years,
00:23said Major General Rashid Thani Al Matrushi, Director of Dubai Civil Defence.
00:28The buildings currently connected include high-rises, warehouses, hospitals, schools
00:32and factories, he said.
00:33Scandalhead bank HSBC said today it would cut its global headcount by up to 50,000 as
00:39part of a restructuring that entails its withdrawal from Brazil and Turkey, while it also considers
00:44abandoning London as its headquarters.
00:47The bank also said in a statement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that it intends to save
00:50$5 billion in annual costs within two years.
00:54The UN has presented a draft proposal for a Libyan unity government to warring factions
00:59in an attempt to stabilise the conflict-torn country. The plan, unveiled at talks in Morocco,
01:04addresses terms of a truce and disarmament of armed groups. UN Special Envoy Bernardino
01:09León urged the Libyans to back the proposal.
01:13The last of the Angola III inmates, whose decades in solitary confinement on a Louisiana
01:18prison farm drew international condemnation and became the subject of two documentaries,
01:22was ordered released Monday.
01:24The ruling would free 68-year-old Albert Woodfox after more than 40 years in solitary.
01:30Woodfox, who was serving an armed robbery sentence, had said he was singled out for
01:34harsh treatment, including isolation, because of his political activism.
