00:13on Thursday morning to mark the 15th of Shaban, the eighth month in the Islamic lunar calendar
00:18and the start of preparations for Ramadan.
00:21This is traditional Middle Eastern practice and usually has children dress up and visit
00:26family and friends asking for treats.
00:29It is also locally known as Haka Leila.
00:32The Jumeirah School volunteers with Red Crescent enhanced the joint effort.
00:37Dressed in colourful traditional dresses and gold jewellery, the children went around the
00:41newsroom and other departments greeting people, asking for treats and singing.
00:46They stayed for over an hour.
00:48The Red Crescent told Gulf News that they had organized the event in a bid to reacquaint
00:52children's wits, culture and traditions and help people understand the celebrations before
00:58Ramadan.
