00:00PKR leader Iswardi Murni has relinquished all his party positions after being fined
00:07RM5,000 last month for insulting the young Diputuan Agong four years ago.
00:12In a video posted on TikTok, the Petra Jaya Division Chief and PKR Information Coordinating
00:17Secretary said he will officially step down from his leadership roles in PKR tomorrow.
00:23Iswardi said because he has been fined from his court case and did not appeal the sentence,
00:29he is unable to contest in the next general election.
00:33He also said he doubted that the party would allow him to contest any post for the party
00:37elections.
00:40On January 23rd, the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court found Iswardi guilty and slapped him
00:45with a RM5,000 fine for statements he made on Facebook deemed to be seditious and insulting
00:51towards former King Al Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.
00:56The federal constitution disqualifies anyone from standing as an election candidate for
01:00five years after being sentenced to at least one year in jail or fined a minimum of RM2,000.
