00:11His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister
00:15of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, has announced a project to transform Dubai into a smart
00:20city.
00:21The project will link the Emirates government services and the public through the use of
00:25smart devices accessed freely.
00:28Through the project, high-speed wireless internet connections will be provided in public locations
00:33and smart sensors will be installed throughout the city to provide live information and services
00:38to the public.
00:40The average total spending of an Emirati family in May was about 22,960 dirhams per month,
00:46a study conducted by Abu Dhabi's Department of Economic Development showed.
00:51The survey found an increase in household expenses.
00:54The same expenses for March was 20,652 dirhams.
00:59The study also found that Emiratis are taking fewer loans from banks.
01:04Nine Lebanese pilgrims who were kidnapped by rebels in Syria in May 2012 have arrived
01:09back in Beirut a day after being released.
01:13There were jubilant scenes as they were greeted on the tarmac by family members and Lebanese
01:17politicians.
01:18Two Turkish pilots who were being held hostage in Lebanon were also freed as part of a complex

01:25A state of emergency has been declared in New South Wales as Australian firefighters
01:30battled bushfires that are expected to worsen in hot and windy weather.
01:36More than 200 homes have already been destroyed and another 120 damaged by the wildfires,
01:41which broke out in unseasonably warm weather.
01:45Sport and hosts UAE will be under pressure to win their crucial Group A match of the
01:50U-17 FIFA World Cup against Brazil today.
01:54The match in Al Ain kicks off at 8pm and will be telecast live on Al Jazeera Sports.
