00:00Why we're here today is to remind the Labour Party, politely, that they have neglected
00:13their principles. After the war, they gave us the cheap food policy that gave security
00:19to the workers in the countryside, empowered us to own our own land, which at the time
00:23was quite radical, and allowed us to work and provide cheap, nutritious food for the
00:28people. And the Conservatives removed those safeguards, and we're now going through the
00:32agricultural transition, and many farmers are screaming, that's why we're here today.
00:36But the Labour Party should have our corner on these issues. It needs to help the workers
00:42in the countryside, just as we need to help the workers in the cities who already have
00:47trouble affording food, who already have poor standards of nutrition. And inevitably, this
00:51is going to get worse as more and more farms go out of business, and we become more and
00:55more reliant on substandard imports.
