00:00Proudly Filipino-made is a technology that can count and determine the species of fish in the sea in an instant.
00:18Come on, let's change the game!
00:24If it's just the sea of the Philippine Territory, it's a challenge to equalize.
00:31So how can we take care of the sea?
00:34In the Philippine waters, which is 2 million square kilometers wide,
00:39the Philippines is also in the Coral Triangle,
00:41which is why it has the highest marine biodiversity in the world.
00:44We have about 2,500 species.
00:47In other places, like the Caribbean, it's only 1,500.
00:51In Australia, it's less than 2,000.
00:55Monitoring under the sea is important for better care.
00:59The problem is that the number of marine researchers in the country is small.
01:03You should know what it looks like because we see less than a dozen experts.
01:09If they are the ones who will measure and count, even if they are there every day, it's not enough.
01:17That's why experts from the UP Marine Science Institute and the UP Department of Computer Science
01:23have created a gadget that can count fish in one area
01:27and determine what species they are.
01:30Presenting the latest version of FishEye.
01:33FishEye uses hardware and software technology.
01:37The hardware is called FishEye Underwater Camera Rig.
01:41And the software is FishEye DeepNet Video Analyzer.
01:45Aside from the number and type of fish, it can also know the length and weight of them.
01:50This FishEye collects information within 10 meters of where you place the camera rig.
01:56Here, in the corner, there is the number of species in that area.
02:01Indicator and target.
02:03Then next to it is the total biomass or the total weight of the fish in that area.
02:10So it's really fast.
02:12Instant information makes it easier to study the fish.
02:16And because it can record the state of the sea,
02:19there is a comparison when a part of it is damaged.
02:22Which helps in answering questions.
02:25You should have proof of what it looks like before the oil spill hits.
02:29What does it look like after?
02:30Then just drop the FishEye.
02:32Look at what's there.
02:33When the oil spill arrives, do it again.
02:36You already have proof.
02:37The current FishEye is an improvement to the previous versions that are more difficult to use.
02:42We used to have a 360-degree view underwater.
02:45We are using this 12-camera rig.
02:48It's a bit heavy.
02:49This camera doesn't even have a camera.
02:51Look.
02:52The FishEye system has been being developed for 8 years since version 1.
02:56And all versions.
02:58Certified Filipino invention.
03:00We were the first ones.
03:01Underwater, you can get the moving video.
03:05And you can see which fish is there.
03:07That's why we were able to get a patent in 5 countries.
03:11There you have it, Kapuso.
03:12That's right, Kapuso.
03:13A game-changing invention to take care of the beauty of our oceans.
03:18To ensure the well-being of fish.
03:21For GMA Integrated News, I'm Martin Avier,
