Losing Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn will NOT be the end of the Lions ... at least, that's what Calvin Johnson is saying -- as the Detroit legend tells TMZ Sports he's confident his squad will recover.

00:00I was excited to see Jared Allen get in because I played against him.
00:07I didn't directly play against him, but I saw the impact he had against, you know, our
00:11offensive line.
00:12Whenever we played him, they had an infamous cut of Dan Olauski running out the back of
00:17the end zone, you know, away from Jared Allen.
00:18You know, I was running around on that play, which is hilarious.
00:21So yeah, man, I was happy to see him get in there.
00:27So absurd for all the guys that get in, that did get in last night.
00:32Dang, I'm at a loss right now.
00:36How many did we put in?
00:38Jared Allen, Eric Allen, Antonio Gates.
00:43Antonio Gates, man, I mean, one of the best, one of the best ideas we've seen in the league.
00:49And then Sterling Sharp was on the, got in on the senior committee.
00:53One of the guys that definitely looked up to and watched growing up.
01:03We've seen now in back-to-back years, last year, a lot of people thought Antonio Gates,
01:08one of the greatest tight ends of all time.
01:09And now people are saying Eli or even Adam Vinatieri, you know, doesn't get in on the
01:13first ballot.
01:14As a first ballot Hall of Famer, I mean, do you, one, you probably have pride in that,
01:19but it seems, do you see that, that it looks like it's harder for people to get in on their
01:23first crack at it?
01:25I don't know, I don't, I don't, I just, I just, I don't know, I wouldn't say it's hard
01:31to get in, I guess, you know, period.
01:33I would say it's like, in some cases, so, you know, just don't take it for granted,
01:38you know, but it's hard to get in period.
01:41I mean, you've seen guys that you grew up watching that was like, dang, you would think
01:45that they would probably be in, but yeah, man, it's just, it's not easy and that's all.
01:54I heard this.
01:55I heard this question asked somewhere this week, so I'm going to ask you, obviously the
01:58gold jackets, the pinnacle of the sport from a, from a personal standpoint, the Superbowl
02:04ring, you know, hoisting L a Barty from the team aspect, would you trade it?
02:08Would you trade one for the other?
02:10When you look back at you?
02:12That's the hilarious thing, man.
02:13You actually think about that, like, you know, would you rather have a, but if you know that
02:17thing, you know, I would say when I thought about that at once, that's what I thought
02:20about.
02:21If I had a Superbowl ring, I'd definitely have a gold jacket.
02:26So the ideal situation is to have both.
02:29I mean, if you don't, yeah, I figured out if I get the ring and the jackets don't come
02:33after that one.
02:34Not that that's the case, but this is the way it played out.
02:38Last thing on the Lions, amazing year.
02:42And when, when you have a good year like that, everybody comes poaching coaches, they've
02:46lost both command co coordinators, a bunch of other coaches.
02:50What impact do you think that'll have moving, moving forward?
02:54Man, um, is, you know, Dan Campbell show over there.
03:00I just, you know, it's hard to say, um, when, um, you know, you've had, I guess, co coordinators
03:08on both sides of the ball that you've kind of built a rapport with, you know, your team
03:11has built, you know, chemistry with over the last couple of years, and then you have to
03:16go try something new.
03:17So, um, and who knows, it might not be too different, there might be a little subtleties
03:20that are similar, but not the same.
03:22So I'd imagine that, you know, some of them, Aaron Glenn's probably rubbed off a little
03:28bit on, on Calvin, but I'm sure he keeps coming with his own, he's coming with his own thing.
03:32So what, you know, the one thing that I can say is the way that Dan gets these guys ready
03:37the way they're ready, even when they maybe just picked up a guy and they get them out
03:41there, he's able to make plays because they have these guys prepared to ever to break
03:45it down and keep it simple.
03:47I think that they, they, if anybody out of anybody have most, you know, I guess the highest
03:54percentage of probability there, when it comes to being able to come in and continue to win.
04:01Because they got the same team, they got the same leadership, you know, as far as from
04:04when it comes from the team.
04:05So those guys can lead the pack, you know, Dan's gonna, you know, he's gonna lead lead
04:10the organization.
04:11And I don't think that the change in the coordinators, you know, potentially could, it might not
04:17be as bad as people might, might think.
