00:00I've just recently set up a business called Ties of Trade and it's a local market, mainly
00:10small businesses, people that are making stuff, charities, it's a big sense of community
00:19basically.
00:20So originally I have a background in design, photography and marketing and stuff like that
00:27and my mum has a business which is inside and garden, sells home and garden decor products.
00:34So I helped her build that business for the last two years, I never really actually thought
00:38I was going to get into markets but during that process I learnt a lot more about markets
00:43and then Nikki was running an event, it was a company called Streetwise Events in Hastings
00:51and then she decided to move up to Norfolk and so that left a gap in the market and she
00:56said does anybody want to take it over, my mum didn't want to take it over on her own
01:02then she suggested maybe I should take it over and she can kind of help out where needed
01:07with her contacts and her knowledge about markets so we thought we'd give it a go and
01:15here we are.
01:16Typically we've got them planned so that they're one Saturday per month basically all throughout
01:23the year and then try to kind of tie them up with like cultural events that are already
01:28happening, say stuff like Pirate Day, things like that.
01:33Plans going forward is to meet more people that are doing interesting stuff like making
01:39things, all kinds of stuff, maybe people that make things out of copper or different kinds
01:44of metal, yeah basically anybody that's doing anything interesting, like making stuff, doesn't
01:50necessarily have to be making stuff but just small businesses, yeah meet as many of them
01:55as possible, hopefully make the event into a vibrant marketplace where lots of people
02:02want to come and see what's going on, hopefully all the stall holders sell loads of stuff
02:08and hopefully grow it a bit as well and maybe make it into something that's quite interesting
02:13and hopefully pulls people into the town.
