A dire shortage of infantry troops coupled with Russian drone attacks on supply routes are weakening Ukraine's resistance in the key city of Pokrovsk.

00:00Pokrovsk, in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, is under siege. Weeds of constant
00:08shelling have devastated large parts of the city, as here recently. Most of the population
00:14has been evacuated. Less than 2,000 of its formerly 60,000 inhabitants are still there.
00:22Maksim, a civil-military cooperation officer with the Ukrainian army, has helped many to
00:27leave, but some are hard to convince.
00:58The pensioner lets us into his home to show us how he survives.
01:20So you are not afraid if Russian troops capture Pokrovsk?
01:27Russians, like here. By passport, I am Ukrainian. And in my soul, there are no Ukrainians here.
01:38All Russians. I want peace. That's what I want.
01:48Those who wished, have almost gone. Pensioners, unfortunately, have no desire. And those who
01:53expect, as they say, the Russian world, they, unfortunately, still expect it. That you will
01:58come and everything will be rebuilt here. But, as practice has shown, nothing is rebuilt,
02:03except for such ruins, nothing is left.
02:06It's curfew time. We have to leave the city quickly.
02:11The shop owners don't want to talk to us. They say that in one hour there will be no
02:16more light. The shelling is intensifying and those who are still around are scurrying home.
