Char Siu Pork Recipe – Flavorful & Juicy 🍖🔥
Char Siu pork is a famous Chinese dish with a caramelized glaze, rich flavor, and tender texture. It pairs perfectly with rice, bread, or noodles.
Ingredients:
500g pork (pork belly or pork shoulder)
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp Chinese rose wine (or white cooking wine)
1 tbsp honey (or sugar)
1 tbsp chili sauce (or sate if you prefer it spicy)
1 tsp five-spice powder
1 tsp garlic powder (or minced garlic)
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
Instructions:
Marinate the pork:
Clean the pork and cut it into long strips (about 3-4cm wide).
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and coat the pork evenly.
Let it marinate for at least 2 hours (or overnight in the fridge for deeper flavor).
Cooking methods:
Oven roasting: Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F). Roast for 30-40 minutes, flipping the pork every 15 minutes and basting with the marinade to keep it juicy.
Pan-searing: Heat a pan, sear the pork over low heat, flipping frequently. Add a little water, cover with a lid, and let it simmer until the liquid reduces and the pork becomes caramelized.
Serving suggestions:
Slice the pork into thin pieces and serve with steamed rice, bread, or noodles.
Pair with cucumber, fresh herbs, and soy sauce with garlic & chili for extra flavor.
Tips:
Pork belly for a fattier, juicier texture, or pork shoulder for a leaner option.
Honey helps create a glossy, caramelized outer layer.
Enjoy your Char Siu pork!
