00:00Through the dust and the haze, the ruins of Gaza emerge in the distance.
00:11This is the view from one of the Jordanian Black Hawk helicopters on its final approach.
00:18Our journey starts almost 200 kilometres away at a military base just outside the Jordanian
00:23capital, Amman, where tonnes of aid from Jordan and further afield is carefully loaded on
00:29board.
00:30Like medicine, some medical equipment, some food items for the baby, baby milk.
00:39So we started this operation from Jordan, as a Jordan aid, and with the support of some
00:47countries like Malaysia, like Qatar today.
00:54These helicopters are operating in pairs, two return and other two are sent out, and
00:58while they're on the ground, they are restocked with those vital supplies.
01:01It is very busy here at the airbase, you can see another bunch of choppers about to take
01:06off.
01:07The Jordanians have spent months trying to negotiate this access with Israeli authorities.
01:10Off goes another chopper again, making that journey towards Gaza.
01:15This is a very narrow window of opportunity, and the Jordanians want to make every possible
01:20chance they can get to get these vital supplies where they're needed the most.
01:29With limited spots per day, we rush to board the first available flight.
01:34You can see just how tightly packed these choppers are, they obviously can't carry as
01:54much as a plane, but the high value items on board require special treatment.
02:03The trip takes just under an hour and a half, heading first to southern Jordan, the weight
02:07of the cargo meaning a refuelling stop is needed, before the team cross the Dead Sea
02:14and into Israeli airspace, heading west to Gaza.
02:20The crew anxious to see what's there, having watched this war from over the border for
02:24more than 15 months, then touchdown.
02:52We've landed here on the edge of Gaza, in the Israeli controlled buffer zone, one of
02:56the few areas the IDF is still maintaining a presence.
03:01Over there is the Kibbutz of Kissel Fim, and the Kissel Fim land crossing in Israel.
03:06Over this side is Gaza.
03:08We can see that as quickly as these choppers were loaded over in Jordan, they are being
03:12unloaded very quickly as well.
03:14That's because this helipad that we've landed at can only accommodate two choppers at a
03:19time.
03:20There's another one just behind us there.
03:22These guys are working as quickly as possible to unload all of the equipment and supplies
03:27on these choppers, so they can get back up in the air, as there is another pair of choppers
03:32not that far behind us, which will need to land here as well.
03:36The Jordanians had hoped that this would be a bigger operation, that they'd be given more
03:39space to land, but this is all that the Israelis have offered them.
03:44And for us, this is as far as we can go into Gaza, Israel still controlling all access
03:49in and out of the territory, even though this ceasefire is now in place.
03:56In just five minutes, it's back on the chopper and back to base.
04:02The relay is reaching the end of its eight-day stretch, but the Jordanians are hoping they
04:06can continue for as long as they're allowed.
