00:00Welcome back to From the South. The governments of Russia and Egypt stressed
00:04the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and for the
00:08Israeli occupier to allow unrestricted humanitarian access to the area. The
00:12statements were made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Egyptian
00:16counterpart Badr Abdelati during talks held in Moscow on Monday. The two top
00:22diplomats assessed the current situation in the Gaza Strip in view of the
00:26persistent Israeli bombardments and reiterated the need to establish a
00:30Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. In their talks, the minister
00:34discussed other international issues including the situation in Syria, Libya,
00:38Sudan and the whole of Africa, as well as the conflict in Ukraine.
00:44Egypt and some other countries aspire to find recommendations that would be
00:58acceptable for both Israel and Hamas. We welcome any steps that are aimed at
01:03stopping the bloodshed as soon as possible and ensuring a sustainable
01:06permanent ceasefire. And we are striving for the same in the United Nations
01:10Security Council. We are acting in parallel with our Egyptian friends.
01:21Meanwhile, on Monday, Israeli genocidal forces struck the Gaza Strip overnight,
01:26claiming at least 27 lives. Ten of the fatal victims, including four women and
01:30two children, were on a house hit by shelling, which injured 15 others in the
01:35Nusayrat refugee camp in central Gaza. All were taken to the hospital.
01:40Meanwhile, Israeli attacks have brought about at least five deaths at a bakery in
01:44al-Mawassi, and another 10 fatalities, among them children, have been registered
01:49in the Seitan city and Sheikh Jadwan neighborhoods. Moreover, another two
01:53Gazans didn't survive an overnight attack on Rafa. Rescue teams have been
01:58actively searching for survivors on the Debris. In all, Gazan health ministry
02:02amounted the death toll to 41,226, in addition to 95,413 injured so far.
02:16We were sitting at home when we were surprised by a missile that fell on the
02:19area, causing what felt like an earthquake in the area. The people here
02:23are simple trying to live and have nothing to do with anything. Children,
02:27young men and women were sitting in their homes. They all have been killed.
02:31On Monday, heavy rainfalls made hardships to the lives of Palestinians in
02:35central Gaza Strip. In this regard, on Sunday, the Palestinian Civil Defense
02:39warned Gazans of expected heavy rainfalls for the upcoming week, urging
02:44them to take due measures to face the weather event, particularly the
02:47displaced in tents, shelters and damaged homes. Expectedly, flash floods
02:52have impacted those sheltered in al-Sawida refugee camp in central Gaza,
02:57following five minute downpours. In this context, a displaced Palestinian
03:01describes his suffering.
03:08The rain fell on us and we were flooded. The roof is rickety and made of
03:13ribbons. Our flower was ruined. The rainy season hasn't even started yet,
03:18but five minutes of rain has already flooded us, as you can see.
03:23The mattresses are damaged and I don't know where to go. The rainy season
03:28and winter haven't even started yet. We're still in September. What are we
03:33going to do when it really starts raining?
03:37The Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a military operation targeting Israeli
03:41military positions in the Palestinian region of Jaffa. The operation was
03:45carried out with a new hypersonic ballistic missile that succeeded in
03:49reaching its target. This operation is part of the fifth phase that seeks
03:54to respond to the Israeli attacks and to bypass all obstacles and
03:58interception systems on land and sea, including those of the US. The Armed
04:02Forces stated that the Israeli aggressions will not prevent Yemen from
04:06fulfilling its moral duty of supporting the Palestinian people.
