00:00Now with us live in the studio is Ms. Leigh Gloria, the Moonton Games PHE Sports Business Development and Partnership Lead.
00:09Good morning, ma'am!
00:11Good morning!
00:12Let's start!
00:14What is the view of Moonton's on the entry of known international esports brand from Team Liquid and now Team Falcons and Twisted Minds?
00:22Of course, we are very excited to have them in our league.
00:26It only means that our ecosystem in MLBB Esports, especially here in the Philippines, is expanding.
00:32Having those foreign investors and non-Southeast Asian organization invest into Philippine esports is something huge for us to consider.
00:43What do you think about the entry of these international teams? How big is this?
00:49Technically, it will contribute a lot to our viewership.
00:52Of course, the viewers in the Philippines and also in Southeast Asia is already big.
00:57But us tapping the audiences as well from other continents, it's something that we are looking forward to.
01:04And especially, it only means that Philippines as a region is also attracting these kinds of foreign investors.
01:14And meaning, of course, our ecosystem here in the Philippines is expanding.
01:18And speaking of entering, how did the exit of RSG and Blacklist affect the landscape of the Mobile Legends?
01:27Well, of course, the exit of both RSG and Blacklist affected us because they've also built their own fan bases.
01:35They've contributed a lot in terms of our community.
01:38And these two teams are also strong teams to begin with.
01:43Both of them have been champions of MPLs in each respective season.
01:48And they represented the Philippines in international tournaments wherein they've also came home with championship titles.
01:55Like for example, for RSG, they were an MSC, Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup champion.
02:01And then for Blacklist, M3, world champion of MLBB.
02:07So, we will really miss them.
02:09But, you know, as a league partner, we can only respect and support their business decision
02:15depending on the direction that they want to pursue.
02:17But how important is that? How important is that for you?
02:20It's important for us because a lot of fans love them.
02:25So, they've built a solid community who comes to our venue, who support them solidly.
02:32So, I think we will feel the adjustment coming to the season.
02:37But of course, we also have new teams to introduce to them that they should also watch out for and support.
02:42Right. Well, you mentioned the new teams coming in.
02:45What do you think? How will the fans, you know, welcome them?
02:48How do you think the HOD Gamers will welcome the new teams that will be joining this season?
02:54Well, of course, any team as long as they show that they're really competitive.
03:00And, you know, if they are teams and players that our community should look up to,
03:07for sure, they will earn the respect of our teams even if they are new teams.
03:12And it's something that everyone in the whole ecosystem is actually excited about.
03:18But what's your opinion about the emergence of the China in MPL Philippines?
03:26Well, technically, China, you know, opening Mobile Legends or actually, you know, an esports team in China is exciting.
03:36It makes, you know, it adds spice.
03:40Because we already know that our game, Mobile Legends, is developed also in China.
03:45And compared to other Southeast Asian countries, we already know that those countries like China, Korea,
03:51their gaming is already in their culture.
03:53So, you know, it will add more challenge.
03:56It will keep us on our toes, especially the Philippine esports team.
03:59Well, you mentioned the challenge, you mentioned the excitement.
04:02But a lot of people, when they're just watching games, especially those who are not familiar with ML,
04:08how exciting and challenging is this tournament and the game itself?
04:12Okay, so for the game itself, of course, if you are a gamer already,
04:18we keep on listening to our community's feedback.
04:21So we can keep on improving our product and whatever we're doing in the league.
04:25And one of the things also that we are also working on and we are trying to expand and develop is
04:32the engagement activity that we are bringing in in our MPL playground.
04:35So when the audience goes to our venue, they don't just get to watch the tournament,
04:41but there are also other engagement touchpoints that we are offering to them.
04:45So it's a full experience when they go to the venue.
04:48You've mentioned earlier that you also play.
04:51You started without playing.
04:53Yes, when I started my career in Moonton, I wasn't really a diehard fan of MLBB.
05:00But of course, you know, as someone who has a role inside the organization,
05:04I have to understand our product and that's where I understood why people are hooked.
05:12Now tell us about your opinion as Mobile Legends is the second most watched esports title last year.
05:22Well, it's something that adds better in our hands.
05:26Especially there are a lot of games that were developed and was released before MLBB.
05:33So, you know, I'm going up to the ranking.
05:35It's a milestone for us.
05:38It's a milestone for us considering that, you know, there are harder games, more challenging games,
05:42that have been with us for a long time.
05:44But we are still able to catch up.
05:45I think also because of the accessibility.
05:47And we keep on improving our products so, you know, it doesn't get bored.
05:53And we also have the Olympic Esports Games.
05:56So what can you say about this? Any thoughts about it?
05:59Well, as of date, the game titles haven't been released or announced yet.
06:06But if ever MLBB makes it to the cut, you know, if ever we make it to the Olympics,
06:11then, you know, it's going to be a huge milestone.
06:14Not just for MLBB, but for the MOBA game genre as a whole.
06:19So we want to represent that genre as well.
06:21For sure.
06:23Without esports in the Olympics, right?
06:26So this is beautiful.
06:28But for you, how big is this for the esports community?
06:32Because we're slowly growing.
06:34And now that we're here, we have the Olympic Esports Games.
06:38So what can you say about it?
06:39Well, it's a huge thing.
06:41Because before, gaming, it used to be just a hobby.
06:48But now that we are, you know, we are offering platform for enthusiasts to take it on a pro level,
06:54you know, it's something that we can take pride of.
06:57Especially, we are also, you know, through these platforms,
07:01we are now part of international competitions and legit sports competitions.
07:07So, yes, the stigma that gaming is just a bad influence on kids is also coming down.
07:14Because, you know, esports is a real sport.
07:17It's also a competitive sport.
07:18And, you know, if you only get to know the stories of the players,
07:22we already have a lot of success stories that we can highlight.
07:26And a lot of it has been life-changing for their families as well.
07:29Well, that's a really good idea.
07:30And I hope that you will have a platform to share those success stories.
07:35You can always come to us and call us for that.
07:39But you already mentioned everything that the Pinoy gamers can look out for now.
07:45What can they expect for this upcoming season?
07:49Of course, this upcoming season is going to be very exciting.
07:53We just revealed our roster for MPL PH Season 15.
07:59It's something that a lot of fans and the community is already, you know, waiting for.
08:04So, we have a lot of activities also.
08:07Engagement and collaborations as well with brand partners that are coming in for this upcoming season.
08:15So, do watch out for that.
08:16All right.
08:17Any other message and invites?
08:20Yes.
08:21MPL Philippine Season 15 is going to be starting on February 28.
08:26So, we will be releasing our tickets very, very soon.
08:29So, just keep yourselves posted.
