With so many businesses now only accepting card and contactless payments, we went out into Manchester to ask people on the street about their thoughts.

00:00Hi I'm Theo and this is People on the Street. Today I'm out in Manchester asking people about
00:04cash and card. That's because a lot of businesses in most cities across the UK now only take card.
00:11We want to know if people should be forced to accept both card and cash or whether it's
00:15understandable that businesses should be able to pick and choose what they accept.
00:19I am a cash girlie, I'm not gonna lie. We get loads more bench space, we don't have to cash up
00:24at the end of the day. I can't remember the last time I did carry cash to be honest, I just used
00:29Apple Pay for everything. Personally I've been using card for years now, the only thing I use
00:34cash for is like the occasional tips and if I need someone to walk around with you know and
00:38someone to coin if they're out a lot. We started off kind of working with festivals and things
00:42like that so it was really like an ease thing so we would um just be in pop-up vans and festivals
00:47with a tiny little iPad and you know a card. Also if you if you're shopping it's a small business
00:52especially a small local one if you pay by card they've then got fees that are coming out of that
00:56so they're not getting all the money. Cash should be everywhere I think.
