00:00Hi everyone, Phil here from the Riverside where I've just arrived. I thought I'd bring
00:05you up to speed with the transfer latest as things stand on deadline day. Now, it's five
00:10o'clock at the time of recording, so there's about three hours till kick-off and about
00:13six hours until the deadline closes. Obviously everything at the moment is a very fast-moving
00:17situation and things can change very quickly, but what we understand at the moment is this,
00:21that Sunderland are still working on a deal to sign Jade and Dan's on loan from Liverpool.
00:28They'll offer some cover and some competition for Wilson East Stowe and Eliza Miandra up
00:31front, a deal that Sunderland are really excited about. A lot of championship clubs were interested
00:36in him. He's been part of Liverpool's senior group for much of the season. Lots of pace,
00:41good finisher, one that Sunderland are really excited about. Hopefully, all being well with
00:46his medical which happened this afternoon, that'll be announced before the deadline at
00:4911 o'clock tonight and he'll be able to play some part this weekend. Beyond that, at the
00:54moment, there's no major news on deals that are going to happen. Brighton have been in
00:59talks with Sunderland for much of the day, as they were over the weekend, for Tommy Watson,
01:03but we understand that at the moment no agreement has been reached. Sunderland have always said
01:08from the start, Regis Abriza was really, really clear that he wanted two wingers on each flank,
01:14the left and the right, and that therefore Sunderland couldn't afford to let Watson go
01:17unless they got a replacement. Now as of yet, they haven't been able to do that. They did
01:22actually look at Brighton's Simon Odingra, but that's a move that doesn't look like it's
01:26going to happen. They've also been linked with Leicester City's Casey McAteer, who obviously
01:30can play off either flank. My understanding is that there has been an offer put in, but
01:33Leicester have made very clear that at this stage, they don't want to sell McAteer. So
01:37at the moment, that's not happening and with Sunderland unable to secure a replacement,
01:41they're not going to let Watson go. It's also my understanding that at this point, although
01:44Brighton have put a very, very big offer on the table for a play of Watson's experience,
01:49they have not yet matched Sunderland's valuation. So listen, there's six hours to go. If Brighton
01:54come back with an even bigger bid, could that change things? Of course it could. It might
01:58be that Leicester or another club, their circumstance changing, that means a player that Sunderland
02:04have been interested in could be on the move, but at the moment, no sign of that. So potentially
02:09in terms of incomes, it could be a little bit of a quiet end to the window, potentially
02:12just Dan's, but we'll have to wait and see. One done deal that has happened is the goalkeeper
02:17Nathan Bishop, who went on loan to Wickham in the summer, you might remember. He started
02:21in the team, picked up an injury and hasn't been able to play regularly since. Sunderland
02:25have recalled him from his loan and have sent him on loan to Cambridge United, where he
02:28should play week in, week out ahead of the summer. Obviously, there may well be some
02:32outgoings for some fringe players in the squad. Abdullah Barr, we know that's been interesting.
02:35Sunderland are happy for him to go. Jefferson Bennett and Joanne Nesson would also be in
02:39that category. So we're still expecting a few deals to go through before the 11pm deadline.
02:43You can see everything on our live blog. You can follow me on Blue Sky. We'll have
02:47all the updates, not just from tonight's game, but also the final hours of the deadline day
02:51window. Of course, things, as I say, can change very quickly, particularly Watson. It's been
02:55a situation that's been changing every five minutes over the weekend. So let's wait and
02:59see what happens. But at the moment, no agreement with Brighton. At the moment, Watson stays.
03:03Him and Mundell sort of offer some competition on the left flank when they're ready. But
03:07let's see how it goes over the next few hours.
