00:00We're here with first-time Grammy nominee Rema. I mean finally, right? I mean you've been working
00:06hard, you've been grinding at it. Yeah, it's a great honor to be here. And to be nominated for
00:10a global album, like how does that feel to feel like your music represents something even bigger?
00:16Uh, it's a great honor. You know, it's just seeing, seeing the Grammys show me this love,
00:22show me this respect. It shows that I'm doing something that is impacting way beyond my space,
00:28way beyond how I imagine it, and in a global scale. And being able to represent Afrobeats
00:34here, it's amazing. And I really feel like Afrobeats is rooted in community and culture.
00:40And how has it felt to be able to, you know, physically represent something that's so
00:45personal to you, like your culture, where you're from? Um, you know, we all, we all play our roles
00:52and I'm happy, um, with the unconscious responsibility, you know, because they call
00:59me the Prince of Afrobeats. It's not something that I chose, it was just something that was
01:04bestowed on me. And I feel like there are things that I need to do, there are places I need to be
01:09to represent the people who put their trust in me. And that's what I'm doing.
01:13And how does it feel like being a young guy in the game? Because you know, if you was to win
01:17tonight, you would, you know, win before even somebody like DeVito. So like to have, you know,
01:21people that have kind of paved the way for even you, how does it feel to win?
01:24It's a, I must give big shout out to everyone who paved the way. Very important. Um, man,
01:30it's been like, what, almost six years in the game. And I'm very grateful for God's grace,
01:36um, for coming this far, you know, it's, it's like 10 years put together in, in five years.
01:43It's just been a lot, it's been a lot of pressure. It's been a lot of competition,
01:46but I'm grateful for God's strength, God's favor, the vision to keep going.
01:51And then lastly, I want to ask you about somebody who have been a part of your career,
01:53Selena Gomez. She's got to be like at the Oscars, you know, Amelia Perez,
01:57how's it been to watch her success? Uh, she's amazing. God bless her for the impact she,
02:03she made in my life. Um, uh, I must say, I must say, it's, it's, it's a lot to say about her.
02:10Uh, she's just amazing. And I hope if she's watching right now, I hope I'm making you proud.
02:14I'm sure you are. And we are so proud of you as well. Congratulations. So well-deserved.
