00:00What an honor. I'm here with Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, Judas Priest. I mean, how special to
00:05be here at the Grammys and celebrating, you know, how music has been changing. I mean,
00:09how have you seen music change in your decades plus long career?
00:14Ah, well, this is the great thing about heavy metal because,
00:17yeah, heavy metal has morphed a little bit over the decades into different genres.
00:22But we are from the roots. We're from the roots of heavy metal.
00:26It's all these definitions of what is Judas Priest. First and foremost,
00:29we're a heavy metal band. We're a British classic heavy metal band. And there you go.
00:35Music changes. Some music stays at its source. And that's what Priest is all about.
00:41Yeah. And I mean, you guys are such an iconic band and you work so well together. What is the key to
00:47longevity when it comes to so many different personalities, so many different music styles
00:51in one group? Sense of humor helps.
00:55It always does. I agree.
00:58Sense of humor and tolerance.
01:01I love that.
01:02No, the main thing is we've been buddies for years, you know, and that never goes away.
01:08You know, once you've got a friend, you generally keep them for a lifetime.
01:12I feel like that's what you hear most from people is that you're friends first
01:15and then bandmates because that's what keeps a relationship alive.
01:18That's absolutely right. Yeah, it's absolutely right.
01:20Any band will tell you that it's like an extended family, you know, and it's very important,
01:27whatever you do, particularly in a group, in a band, to have respect and love for each other
01:32and to keep everybody at the same level. You know, nobody's more important than the next person.
01:37And so keeping the playing field level and everybody feeling that we're all in the same
01:45idea for success is what's kept people like Judas Priest together and so strong.
01:51Are there any new artists right now that are inspiring you? I mean,
01:54you guys probably it'd be an honor for them, I'm sure.
01:58Well, in the category that we're nominated in heavy metal,
02:03there's a couple of new bands, Spiritbox and Knock Loose with Papi.
02:08You just spoke to them. They're great.
02:09So, yeah, this is the great thing about heavy metal.
