00:00A senior citizen in Manila has been arrested for raping his minor stepdaughter.

00:06The accused insisted that he was being held responsible for the crime because of his family's fight.

00:11Here's the news from Bea Pinlac.

00:13I'm the leading judge of the trial.

00:15I was arrested on the basis of warrant of arrest in the case of statutory rape.

00:21This senior citizen remained silent and did not speak.

00:25He was arrested in Manila for repeatedly raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter.

00:33According to the police, the crime lasted for three years.

00:38From 11 years old up to 14 years old, he was abused by his stepfather.

00:46On June 20, 2024, the accused repeatedly raped his stepdaughter but the victim refused.

00:52Even though he refused, he was afraid that his siblings and his parents would kill him.

00:58He said that he would not continue his studies and that he would support his studies.

01:03The accused continued to rape the victim that's why he was released.

01:07A few days after his absence from school, he was found by his teacher.

01:13When he saw this...

01:15The child said that he reported it to his teacher.

01:18The victim's medical results also confirmed that he was raped.

01:22But the accused insisted that he was only raped because of the fight between his family that started when he was a child.

01:30I was surprised. I came from work. I was arrested. I don't know if it's my fault.

01:38No ma'am, it's not true.

01:40It's positive in the medical report because there's evidence.

01:44Statutory rape is the main complaint of the accused, who is now in prison at Baseco Police Station.

01:50Under counseling, the victim is under the care of his father.
