05:00Here in the land of the under, in Australia,

05:03lives one of the most dangerous spiders in the world,

05:08the Sydney Funnel Web Spider.

05:11But recently, a study was published in the BMC Ecology and Evolution Journal

05:16that discovered a larger and more dangerous species of the Sydney Funnel Web Spider,

05:22the Atrax Christenseni, or Big Boy as they call it.

05:26Atrax Christenseni, or Big Boy as they call it, is 9 centimeters long.

05:31It's almost twice the length of most Sydney Funnel Webs.

05:35The Atrax Christenseni, named after the former head of spiders in Australia's Reptile Park,

05:40Kane Christensen, was first discovered in the early 2000s near the coastal city of Newcastle.

05:45This particular spider is a lot larger.

05:48Its venom glands are a lot larger and its fangs are a lot longer.

05:51Sometimes you might find them in a garage or in a bedroom or somewhere in the house

05:55that you might have wandered in during the night.
