Transcript
00:00It's been called the largest massive deportation operation in history.
00:06What more do we know and how long will this process take?
00:17Yeah, the Trump administration has started flying out immigrants
00:20who entered the United States illegally.
00:23A concerted effort by the administration to highlight
00:26one of Donald Trump's campaign pledges that he would clamp down
00:30on this illegal immigration.
00:32We've seen images shared by the White House press secretary
00:35Caroline Levitt on social media
00:37showing individuals literally in handcuffs boarding military planes.
00:42In the tweets or on the Post on X,
00:45she says that deportation flights have begun.
00:47President Trump, she says, is sending a strong and clear message
00:51to the entire world that if they do try to enter
00:55the United States of America illegally,
00:57then they will face severe consequences.
01:00Part of Donald Trump's plan, but also, as I say,
01:03a concerted effort to publicise this widely and to speak,
01:08as they have done, about the raids that they want to see
01:11take place in various American cities.
01:13Boston, Denver, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Seattle, Miami, Washington, D.C.
01:19I will just add that arresting hundreds of people in this fashion
01:23is not actually unprecedented.
01:25That figure is in line with the sort of statistics
01:28that come out from Donald Trump's predecessors.
01:31It's just the manner in which they are publicising this
01:34in this fashion on social media.
01:37Not just this, but other of Donald Trump's vast array of measures
01:41that he's trying to implement vis-à-vis immigration.
01:44They are likely to face legal, economic, logistical,
01:49maybe even moral challenges.
01:52The message from the White House to officials or politicians
01:56or lawyers that try to stand in Donald Trump's way
01:59is that the Justice Department will investigate them
02:02if there are any attempts to block these new immigration laws.
02:06So, Mr Trump trying to force through his policies on this issue
02:11in the face of opposition.
