00:00It is said that one meal a day or OMAD diet helped some Filipinos to lose weight.
00:10But an expert found out that it should not be done every day.
00:13And that's what Bon Aquino is pointing out.
00:20Aislinn Capili gained almost 100 kilos in 2024
00:25while Chito Lim, a 31-year-old businessman, gained 135 kilograms.
00:41Because of this, Aislinn and Chito tried the one meal a day diet or OMAD.
00:47This is fasting for 16 to 23 hours and eating only once a day.
00:53Now, their pegs glow up after losing 40 kilograms in 6 to 7 months.
01:00But OMAD was not easy.
01:03In my first months, I planned to give up because my head hurts.
01:08Mostly at night, I still feel hungry.
01:12I snacked on bananas and apples.
01:17According to a lifestyle doctor, the right way to do the one meal a day diet
01:22is to eat something that is good for the body.
01:25Instead of using carbohydrates, the energy of the body shifts to fats.
01:31It also increases insulin sensitivity.
01:35That's why sugar is more beneficial for the body and cellular repair.
01:39When there is an energy depletion, your body thinks,
01:43okay, this is the time to clean my body and destroy the cells that are already defective.
01:50But according to the doctor, OMAD should be done 2 to 3 times a week.
01:56It cannot be done every day.
01:58You will notice that those who fast for a long time, they would lose weight.
02:01But once they return to the normal eating pattern, they suddenly go crazy.
02:05The Filipino Department of Health should also follow
02:08half vegetables and fruits, one-fourth carbohydrates,
02:12and one-fourth healthy protein to avoid nutrient deficiency.
02:16OMAD should also not be done to pregnant women, teenagers,
02:20children, individuals with eating disorders, diabetes, heart disease,
02:24and other chronic illnesses.
02:26Consult your doctor first.
