00:00In a move to strengthen local farming and preserve the carabao population,
00:04the Department of Agriculture's Philippine Carabao Center recently provided 57 carabaos
00:09to farmers in Lamut, Ifugao. The initiative focuses on enhancing dairy production and
00:14tackling the decline of carabao numbers, ensuring the species' future in the region.

00:24The Department of Agriculture Philippine Carabao Center, Kagayan,
00:28distributed 57 carabaos to seven farmers' organizations in Lamut, Ifugao recently.
00:34The animal dispersal is intended for the dairy herd buffalo production project of the municipality
00:40in partnership with the DAPCC. The carabao development program also aims to address
00:45the declining population of carabaos in the area. The reduction of carabao population
00:50is attributed to slaughtering practices during celebratory feasts.
00:57The farmers' organizations expressed gratitude for the assistance they received.
01:28Lamut hopes to establish a buffalo multiplier farm breeding center to increase the carabao
01:38population. An ordinance will be enacted to regulate the slaughter of carabaos in the area.
01:44The municipality ambitions to be the dairy herd center of Ifugao in the coming years.
