00:00President Trump is scheduled to come to Los Angeles tomorrow, and Gavin Newsom, I'm guessing,
00:12may actually be there.
00:14And these two guys who detest each other, how do they interact?
00:19How does Newsom, how should Newsom play this when each knows the other can't stand them?
00:26Well, I would tell you, tell them each very directly that these problems are bigger than
00:32politics.
00:34You are public servants, both of you, and you need to work together, find common ground,
00:41and go help people that are really suffering.
00:44Nobody wants to hear about your political grievances about each other, and nobody wants
00:47to hear about your political differences.
00:49There are thousands of people out of jobs, out of their homes.
00:53Simple as that.
00:54You get paid to be a public servant, and we really need both of you.
00:58So I'm hopeful that they're going to rise above it and do the right thing.
01:02It seemed like they were going to get the right, the number of signatures needed for
01:09the recall with Mayor Bass.
01:10I don't know if they're going to actually get to it, but that effort seemed pretty strong
01:14a couple of weeks ago, immediately after the fire.
01:18Your take on if it should actually play out that there is a recall, what can we expect,
01:26what you would do if there were a recall?
01:28Are you going to run?
01:29Honestly, I'm not thinking about it at all.
01:32The recall is going to play itself out.
01:35That's going to be the will of the people.
01:37I think Mayor Bass has to figure out her future on her own, for sure.
01:43My focus right now is leaning in everywhere I can for the rebuilding, to get the red tape
01:49cut, to get the right policies in place so we can get people their homes back.
01:54We've got to put infrastructure into the Palisades.
01:57We can't go put power lines behind people's homes again.
02:00We've got to underground it.
02:02So I really want to be an advocate for that community, and also Altadena.
02:06Let's get out of people's way.
02:07Let's get it cleaned up quickly.
02:09We've got to have a mobilization by federal force, FEMA, to come in here and get all the
02:15toxins out, redo the infrastructure, and cut through the red tape so people can build their
02:20homes.
02:21We've got to have something similar to COVID.
02:23Federal government, state government comes in and provides federal assistance to keep
02:27people going.
02:28We've got to have a moratorium on mortgage payments, a moratorium on tax payments for
02:33people's land in their homes.
02:35So everybody's got to lean in.
02:37Let's take a little bit of a playbook from COVID.
02:40We all hope that would never come back.
02:42Well, some of it's come back, and we've got to reinstate a lot of those things that kept
02:47people's lives going.
