Expat Marc Hall has vivid memories of the day he met Sunderland legend Bobby Gurney - and got a Wembley ticket out of it.

00:00So, in 1990, I was on leave from the Army, spending a bit of time in Sunderland, when my grandmother, who was a member of the Towns Women's Guild,
00:10she said that she knew Bobby Gurney's wife, and would I like to meet the great man.
00:16Of course I said yes, and she arranged that for me.
00:22So I went round to his house in East Harrington, and we spent a good half hour, three quarters of an hour, just chatting really.
00:30I wish I could remember lots more of what he told me, unfortunately I can't.
00:36He told me about the goal that he scored at Wembley, he showed me his England cap.
00:42My overriding memory of him was that he was such a really nice guy, to be honest with you.
00:47And that's what I took away from him, and a ticket for the playoff final that year against Swindon.
00:54So that's my Sunderland story, I guess.
00:59My wife's Sunderland story is that when we lived in England, before we emigrated, she was airline cabin crew,
01:06and worked out of Birmingham Airport, and she worked with Rob Hindmarcher's wife.
01:14And on a non-Sunderland front, she also worked with Archie Gemmill's daughter.
01:19So that's our footballing story, that's our links to all these footballing greats.
01:25Hello to anybody in Sunderland who might remember me, although I did leave when I was 17 and a half and I haven't been back since.
01:32But if anybody does know me, hello again, nice to see you again.
