00:00Aaron Jay Jack in Houston watching the snow fall, you know
00:04But I can tell that the consistency of the snow when you first reported this morning
00:08It was those big what I call big bomber flakes big flakes now as the cold air gets deeper and deeper
00:15It's more of a drier snow and it's really starting to accumulate Aaron. How much do you have?
00:24Yeah, that's definitely right now, you know, we were seeing those big huge flakes earlier now almost
00:29I was under some trees earlier is almost kind of an icier snow
00:32I could hear it hitting the trees right above me, but we're probably sitting around that two-inch mark
00:37Maybe two and a half inches so far, but it looks like you know
00:40We're gonna continue to get this snowfall for several more hours
00:43I was looking at radar and some of the more widespread coverage that I've seen before, you know earlier
00:48We kind of had those bands of snow that moved through so there be
00:51Moments where the snow is heavier and lighter at times, but now it's more of a you know, a more widespread
00:57Steady snowfall that's falling here in downtown, Houston
01:01You know people are starting to actually come out more than you know
01:04Pretty much a ghost town early this morning starting to get light out now a little bit later in the morning
01:09People are starting to venture out walk around
01:11I actually just watched a guy doing some doughnuts here in this parking lot a few minutes ago
01:15Probably first time he's ever got to test out his four-wheel drive vehicle in the snow
01:19He's lived here all his life because this is a rare event here in the Houston area a once-in-a-lifetime event here
01:25You know, this is the first time I've ever covered a winter storm along the Gulf Coast and this is a widespread
01:31you you mentioned a thousand miles, you know from San Antonio and I-10 through Houston East and to Louisiana where they've actually got a
01:38blizzard warning right now in southeastern, Texas Beaumont, Texas, southwestern, Louisiana
01:42And points further to the east later today all the way to the the Texas the Florida panhandle
01:47We'll see this wintry mix is wintry
01:50Winter storm impacting the area, but again people are starting to venture out the snow is continuing to pile up
01:56They got people dancing in the snow out here. I've talked to several people
02:00This is the first time they've ever seen snow
02:02They one guy was from Florida and he moved here and he's like I've never seen snow before and big smile on his face
02:08So, you know, it might be
02:10You know up north there might be another day of snow for people up north, but for here this is a this is an event
02:16This is a lifetime something. Don't probably remember the rest of their lives what happened with this winter storm here and early 2025
02:23So back to you guys from Houston, Texas
02:25Wow, yeah, just imagine people who you know
02:28Maybe adults and they've never seen snow before and it's you know, it does
02:32I mean even I get excited for the first snowfall so we can imagine there
02:35You can see it accumulating in his beard to a snow star to move on through. We appreciate that update from Aaron J jack
