Much of the southeastern U.S. could be in the path of another winter storm with snow and ice from Jan. 20-23.

00:00We have a lot of activity that's going to be encompassing along the East Coast as we head
00:05into the weekend. First, we have this front that's going to be bringing with it some of that
00:10rain, but we already are seeing some of that rain already impacting areas across southern Texas.
00:15That's going to include the Austin area, the I-35 corridor, Houston, and then on
00:21East as we do continue throughout the rest of the week. And then we have a front that's going to be
00:25approaching bringing with it that wet weather, but also we have a feature that's going to be
00:29bringing some colder and some wintry weather to parts of the Great Lakes in the Northeast.
00:35It's basically the Polar Express, though. We've continued to have these shots of very,
00:40very cold air, and this is what's on tap for the weekend. We're going to get that
00:46Arctic blast, and when it originates from these areas, it tends to reach pretty far south,
00:55and that's going to extend across a great portion of the U.S. We do have that winter storm potential
01:02here at least Sunday into Monday, and we're going to continue to monitor the situation very closely,
01:07but right now we're looking at the Appalachians, of course, up into the Northeast, New England.
01:12As we head into Monday, though further south, a little bit further into the future, this is
01:18January 20th through the 23rd, this is going to be a mess. This has the potential to be another
01:26debilitating storm across the south. Yet again, we are tracking that potential for significant snow
01:33or ice. It's a little too soon to really match up where that rain-snow line is going to be and
01:40where we're going to be seeing more of that ice, but a lot of these same areas are areas that were
01:45just hit by some ice storms that were making their way on through not too long ago, and I mentioned
01:51that Arctic air, yes, it's going to have influences here, and we are tracking this very close to the
01:57coast just to show you the expanse of this cold air, and we do still have that moisture, plenty
02:03of it to help feed, of course, these storms. We have to watch out for this tricky situation. For expert
