A 13-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after the stabbing of a Coles employee. Police allege the teenager approached the 63-year-old woman while she was working at the supermarket in Ipswich's Yamanto Shopping Centre, southwest of Brisbane, and stabbed her in the back with a knife. 00:00Detectives from the Eastridge Crime Group are investigating an unlawful wounding that

00:08At about 5.25pm, police were called to the Yamanto Central Shopping Centre in regards
00:15to a Hollingwood Park woman who'd received a serious injury which we believe was inflicted
00:21by a knife.
00:23The offender attempted to leave the centre and was promptly apprehended by some members
00:28of the public along with security and I want to acknowledge those persons for their brave
00:33actions.
00:34So the 13-year-old youth has since been charged overnight with one count of attempt to murder.
00:40We are already drafting plans to conduct additional high visibility patrols in these locations
00:49to restore community confidence.
