00:00Welcome back to Tactics Zone, where we'll be looking back on Hibs winning all the key battles in their 3-1 win over Motherwell.
00:07It's a tale of a dominant midfielder, an unsung hero, free movement up top, and collective discipline providing a platform for individual brilliance.
00:17Motherwell knew they had to prevent the Hibs midfielders getting on the ball.
00:21At the very least, they wanted them always playing the ball backwards.
00:25Hibs could be aggressive in stepping up to compete for possession, with Iredale coming out of central defense into midfield more than once because the players are confident that their teammates will cover.
00:35By getting bodies in the box, allowing Martin Boyle to roam in pursuit of weak spots, and getting Nectar Triantis on the ball, Hibs took a grip of this game.
00:45Triantis, Boyle, and Dylan Leavitt were all involved in the attack leading up to the opening goal.
00:50Look at Leavitt providing an option, just to draw a marker and leave an inviting space for Obita to attack before crossing.
00:57The second Hibs goal is, on the face of it, a great solo effort from Triantis.
01:03But he can only gamble on jumping out of the line here because he's sure of the security behind him.
01:09It's clever play by the young Australian, recognizing that Hibs have only one man beyond the ball, and backing himself to win it, and then to score.
01:18Hibs could easily have scored a third before briefly allowing Motherwell a way back into the game via a free kick.
01:24But the fact that they were able to bring on Lewis Miller from the bench, the big man using his aerial power to win a penalty put away by Boyle, speaks to a certain depth about this squad.
